Leon, Brian, Darren and Michiel pair up for a frantic session of the fourth game in Nintendo's cartoon racer series, Mario Kart: Double Dash!! The game launched to great anticipation but a mixed reception in 2003. Was the GameCube game too gimmicky, too chaotic for its own good, or is it only right and proper that this was the instalment that locked in the aesthetic and handling templates for the next 15 years and five instalments (or more)?

An uncommonly recent (at the time of recording) 'AAA' title gets the Cane and Rinse treatment, as just over a year and a half after its release we turn our attentions to Guerrilla's post-post-apocalyptic metallic monster hunt, Horizon Zero Dawn. "The world before the fall, Lovely is the light of dawn, Noble is the heart of man..."

Josh, Leah, Jon and Maya Santandrea continue our journey through the Final Fantasy series with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System's final entry. Hironobu Sakaguchi, who has been intimately involved with the series up to this point, takes a reduced role as Producer for this title and instead Yoshinori Kitase and Hiroyuki Ito take on directing duties. With this change in responsibilities came a change of style and approach as compared with series up to this point. This would ultimately shape the trajectory of Final Fantasy as it moved onto new devices. We discuss how we feel about these changes, plus our responses to the largest cast of playable characters in the series entire history and a villain that represents a very different kind of evil than we've seen up this point. This and more, as we cover Square's 1994 release, Final Fantasy VI.

For the eighth of our ten podcasts on the mainline Resident Evil games, we return to Kijuju for potentially the most controversial and divisive entry in the series. Leon, Charlotte, Jacob and Michiel decide whether or not Resident Evil 5 retained enough of its mighty predecessor's DNA to stay relevant, or if - Uroboros like - the franchise was starting to eat its own tail as a 'me-too' Gears of War type affair. The panel and our contributors also discuss the thorny issue of the game's African setting and accompanying imagery.
