Hey Cannon Cruisers fans! Randy here! This week, JD and I take on John Carpenter Presents Stephen King's Christine (1983), which is what we're calling it whether Carpenter and King like it or not. Keith Gordon stars as Arnie Cunningham, a teenager whose obsession with a battered Plymouth Fury starts changing him in ways that go well beyond fixing up an old car.
Christine gives us plenty to like whenever the car is allowed to feel genuinely monstrous, especially once Carpenter starts showing off what it can do. The bigger problem is how long the movie takes to get there. JD and I keep coming back to the slow pacing. We also question some of the changes from King's novel, especially since a story about a murderous Plymouth somehow feels this restrained. Somewhere along the way, one of Arnie's stranger insults becomes a topic of far more discussion than anyone probably intended.

Cannon Cruisers Season 6 Wrap-Up - Cannon Films Retrospective
Hey Cannon Cruisers fans! Randy here! Season 6 was our pandemic year. What normally took a few months to record stretched across most of 2020 as lockdowns and restrictions kept getting in the way. Somehow, JD and I still made it through 15 Cannon films, including Jean-Claude Van Damme's Cyborg and Kickboxer. The Non-Cannon side added another 13 films, beginning with seven Joe Dante movies in a row. That run included Gremlins and Innerspace, before the rest of a very strange year took us in several other directions. By the time we recorded this wrap-up, enough time had passed that some old ratings were already being re-litigated and a few movies had nearly vanished from memory. One of the two hosts talks too much. It's probably Randy, no one likes that guy.
