Happy New Year from The Captain!!!!!!! I’m back after some time off to recap 2021. I’m also here to discuss how we can set intentions this year for the changes we want to see as opposed to making resolutions. Thank you so much for being patient with me. The time off was beyond need for some work/life balance.

This week on the Couch brings us our first Sports Update of the 2021 NFL Season. I also think back on my LiveJournal days and the benefits of journaling for mental health. I give some tips on how to make it more of a habit and how it can benefit your physical and mental health.

This week, I"m back on to work on the Couch. I examined Simone Biles' decision to step away to focus on her mental health during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. I explore self-compassion, the roles we play in our lives, and how to prioritize yourself when necessary for our mental health. I explore the concept of "holding room for ourselves", how we do it, and why it is important to hold room for ourselves so we can hold room for others.
