Politics!! Ain’t that the hype these days?

Well, we don’t talk much about politics but I was able to have a great conversation with our local West Yellowhead MLA Martin Long. 

I met Martin a couple years ago when he was first campaigning for his position and I’ve been watching him work ever since. 

He seems almost omnipresent because I’ve run into him at funerals, graduations and many different events.  I don’t know how he does it, but he doesn’t sure doesn’t sit around!

This week we'll try to steer clear of the more touchy political topics and really just focus on Martin's story and how he got where he is today.  I enjoyed hearing about his perspectives on leadership and what makes him a positive politician.

Hello Everybody 

I am proud and excited to present the first ‘Carla Rand Show: Coaching Edition’.  This is a new idea that I’ve been wanting to try for a while and I’m happy to get off and running.  

In this format I'll be facilitating a session between two individuals, a coach and a participant.  We will be able to listen in as one walks the other through overcoming various personal challenges.  

Today’s episode features Greg Garwood, a nutrition and lifestyle coach, who I have worked with in the past. Hopefully by listening in, you can find some inspiration and helpful tips for your own life journey. 

I met Mesh Hit just this past year when he became the new Pastor for my home church, Edson Baptist and it has been a privilege getting to know him. He has a powerful testimony and a deep love for people both in and out of the church.

In this week's podcast he and I discuss his life and its ups and downs, as well as the things he's learned along the way. 

As a career Pastor he has a lot of insights around the good and the not so good sides of leading a church

Sharon Neufeld is a long time mentor of mine and it was so good to have her back on The Carla Rand Show.  The first time she was on I felt like we barely scratched the surface on the things I wanted to talk about.

She has such a gift in sharing wisdom and truth into the lives of others.  Listen to Sharon take on the topic of womanhood.   What does it mean to be a woman? What rights should a woman have? What is a woman anyway? 

It’s a complex issue and I can honestly say that Sharon does an excellent job breaking it down to what really matters.  If you are a woman trying to navigate your role in today’s society, then you’re not going to want to miss this episode!

It's Shannon here - and I'm blessed to do a quick intro. of this peek into Advent.  I'm not sure if you feel "ready" for Christmas or not - I can't say I'm quite there yet.  

Advent has been a traditional time held dear by many churches and families alike to prepare our hearts to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus.

Here Carla and I chat a little about the journey it has been for me personally and some of the discoveries I've made in the process.

This podcast will be a great way to get you thinking about what Christmas is really about.  The phrase "Who Stole Christmas?" has been rolling around in my mind as of late.  It seems this Christmas will be very different for many - but -what we can remember is that NO ONE CAN STEAL CHRISTMAS - for it is a celebration of Jesus coming to earth to bring us hope, joy, love, peace and light

So join Carla and I in tossing out those internal obstacles and looking at this season in a new, freshly fallen snow kind of way.

Kynan Vine has a unique and inspiring story that I think will really resonate with people struggling in these difficult times. Kynan works for the Calgary Stampede and the Canadian finals rodeo. He competed as a professional bull fighter/rider for many years, until that all changed. In 2013 Kynan made the choice to donate a kidney to save his mothers life. This sacrifice effectively ended his bull fighting career, changing the trajectory of his life. Listen in as he and I discuss his choice, and how he adapted to his new normal, and growing up in and around Canadian Rodeo.

Waldie Neufeld is the former President of the Peace River Bible Institute, a Bible College that I attended when I was young. Brett Gardiner is an award winning Western Sports Announcer. Usually doing around 135 events in a year and travelling all over North America, Brett is living out the dream. Something you might not realize for a successful and hard-working guy like Brett is that despite having so many things going well for him, he reached a point of burnout that brought him to a paradigm shift. He found himself one day staring in the mirror and realizing that he had do something, anything to make a better balance in his life.
