In this foundational episode of the Lies We Believe series, we’re slowing down and taking a hard look at the thoughts running quietly in the background of your life.
You’ll learn how to recognize the thoughts you’ve been believing without question, why they’re shaping your emotions, actions, and results, and how to begin filtering them through truth and purpose.
This is not about fixing everything today. This is about waking up. Becoming aware. And starting the work of renewing your mind in a way that actually leads to transformation.
Key Takeaways:
Most of us are believing our thoughts without questioning them
A thought is simply a sentence in your mind, not automatically a fact
Your thoughts drive your feelings, actions, and results
If the thought is off, everything downstream is affected
You can begin changing your life by asking:
Is this true?
Is this helpful?
Awareness is the first step to renewing your mind
You are not broken, you’ve just been practicing unhelpful thinking
Encouragement / Close:You don’t need to fix everything today. You just need to start noticing.
Because the life you’re living right now is being shaped by the thoughts you believe. And we’re not leaving those unexamined anymore.

You’ve started. You’re showing up.You’re trying to stay consistent.
And it still feels hard.
You’re wondering… is something wrong?
In this episode, we talk about what happens when you’re doing the work and it still feels hard.
You’ll learn why resistance is expected, how your brain is trying to protect you, and why “this shouldn’t feel this hard” is one of the most limiting thoughts you can believe.
This is a grounded, faith-rooted conversation about emotional maturity, self-leadership, and how to keep going without falling back into the cycle of starting over.
Key Takeaways:
Hard is not a red flag. It is a sign you are no longer on autopilot
Resistance is expected when you are creating on purpose
The thought “this should be easier by now” keeps you stuck
Ease comes from repetition, not before it
Your brain is trying to keep you safe, not help you grow
Safety and growth are not the same thing
Emotional maturity means not obeying every feeling
You don’t need to feel like it to follow through
You are becoming the woman who keeps going, not just completing tasks
When you want to quit: name it, tell the truth, take the next step, repeat
Faithfulness over time leads to transformation
You don’t quit because it’s hard.
You become someone who can handle hard.
You were made for this. And every time you stay, you are creating the life you want.
If you are ready to stop starting over and start becoming the woman who follows through, join me inside Full Steam Ahead or book a Right Fit Call.
You don’t have to do this alone.
You don’t have a starting problem. You have a staying problem.
You know what to do. You’ve started before. But staying consistent… that’s where it breaks down.
In this episode, we take the next step in creating your life on purpose by focusing on consistency.
You already know you are creating your life and how to begin doing that intentionally. Now we talk about what actually makes it stick.
You will learn why consistency feels hard, what causes you to stop, and how to keep going even when you don’t feel like it. This is a grounded, practical conversation about identity, decision-making, and building a life through small, repeated actions.
You don’t have a starting problem. You have a staying problem
Consistency is not about motivation. It is about identity and decision
Your brain is wired to seek comfort and avoid effort. Resistance is part of the process
Relying on motivation leads to inconsistent results
It only gets easier through repetition, not before
What you tell yourself when you stop determines whether you keep going
Consistency is not perfection. It is returning again and again
Small, consistent actions create real results over time
Decide ahead of time and remove the daily debate
Keep your commitments to yourself to build trust and identity
Get back to it quickly instead of starting over
You don’t need to be perfect.
You need to be consistent.
You don’t need to start over. You need to keep going.
You are not just living your life. You are creating it. And consistency is how that creation takes shape.
If you want support in building consistency and creating your life on purpose, schedule a Right Fit Call or join Full Steam Ahead starting in May.

You don’t need to start over. You don’t need a new plan. You don’t need to fix everything all at once.
You need your next decision.
In this episode, we move from awareness into action.
You’ve already seen that you are creating your life and that much of it has been happening by default. Now we take the next step.
You will learn how to begin creating on purpose in a simple, practical way that fits your real life. This is not about doing more or becoming perfect. It is about deciding who you are becoming and practicing it one step at a time.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start, this episode will give you clarity and direction.
You do not need a full reset. You need a new way of showing up
Creating on purpose starts with identity, not a plan
Who you believe you are will drive what you do
You can begin choosing your thinking instead of following it
Small, aligned actions are more powerful than big, inconsistent ones
Repetition is what creates transformation

In this episode, we continue the conversation on creation and take a deeper look at what keeps you stuck in default patterns.
You will learn why your brain naturally pulls you toward comfort and familiarity, how your thinking shapes your results more than your circumstances, and what to do when you realize you’ve been living on autopilot.
This is not about blame or shame. It is about awareness, ownership, and learning how to create your life on purpose in a practical, grounded way.
Default creation is not failure. It is your brain doing what it was designed to do
You stay stuck when you believe your thoughts without questioning them
Your thinking often feels like reality, but it is not the same as facts
You are not stuck because of your circumstances but because of what you believe about them
Feelings are not reliable enough to lead your life
Avoiding discomfort keeps you choosing short-term relief over long-term results
Reacting keeps you in default. Deciding ahead of time moves you into intentional living
Awareness is the turning point. Not shame
Change begins with telling the truth, getting curious, and deciding who you want to be
Creation on purpose happens through small, consistent actions over time
You are not stuck. You are practiced.
You have been practicing default thinking and reacting. And you can begin practicing intentional thinking and creating.
You are not just living your life. You are creating it.

You are creating your life right now.Not someday. Not when things calm down. Not when you feel ready.Right now.
The question is not if you are creating. The question is whether you are doing it on purpose… or by default.
In this episode, we begin a new series focused on creation and what it actually means to take responsibility for your life in a grounded, practical, faith-rooted way.
You will learn how your thoughts, emotions, and actions are constantly shaping your results, whether you realize it or not. This is not about pressure or perfection. It is about awareness, ownership, and learning how to participate in the process God designed for your transformation.
If you have ever felt stuck, inconsistent, or like you keep starting over, this episode will help you understand why and show you what to do next.
You were made in the image of God, which means you were made to create
You are always creating through your thoughts, emotions, actions, and patterns
There is no neutral. You are either reinforcing patterns or creating new ones
The Creation Cycle:
Thoughts create feelings
Feelings drive actions
Actions create results
Results reinforce thoughts
If you do not create on purpose, you will create by default
What you are experiencing right now was created, which means it can be recreated
Transformation is not accidental. It is intentional and requires your participation
Renewing your mind is the starting point for real, lasting change
Take an honest look at your life without shame or condemnation.
What are you creating right now?
And is it aligned with who you want to be?
You are not stuck. You are learning. And you can begin creating differently starting today.
If you are ready to stop living on autopilot and start creating your life on purpose, explore the resources in the show notes and stay with this series.
This is the work we do inside coaching, and it will change everything.

One of the biggest lies we believe is this: if I really wanted it, I would just do it.
But that is not how the brain works. Most of the things that move your life forward require effort, discomfort, and doing things you do not feel like doing in the moment. Your brain is wired to seek pleasure, avoid pain, and conserve energy. That means resistance is normal.
In this final March episode on taking action, I share three practical strategies that will help you follow through consistently even when motivation is nowhere to be found.
In this episode, Shanna explains why waiting for motivation keeps many women stuck and how understanding the brain’s motivational triad removes shame around resistance.
She then teaches three powerful strategies that make it easier to take action consistently: focusing on how you will feel after completing a task, reconnecting with your deeper reasons for doing it, and celebrating progress along the way.
These simple shifts help retrain the brain and build trust with yourself through repeated follow through.
Key Takeaways
Your brain is wired to seek pleasure, avoid pain, and conserve energy. Resistance is normal.
If you think the reason you are not taking action is lack of motivation, you are solving the wrong problem.
Focusing on how you will feel after completing the task can help override resistance.
Every time you follow through on what you said you would do, you build trust with yourself.
Having a written list of reasons why your goal matters helps anchor you when motivation fades.
Repeated consistent action is what creates results and moves you toward the life you want.
Celebrating small wins releases dopamine and trains your brain to repeat the behavior.
Consistent action becomes an act of stewardship as we care for the life God has entrusted to us.
Closing Encouragement
You do not change your life through one big burst of motivation.
You change your life through thousands of small decisions and actions taken consistently over time.
Start where you are. Commit to what you are willing to do consistently. And take those actions from a place of love.
If you are ready to experience deeper transformation with personal coaching support, schedule a Right Fit Call through the link in the show notes. I would love to talk with you.

Many women believe the reason they are not following through is because they lack motivation.
They assume that if they just felt more inspired, more energized, or more disciplined, they would finally start doing the things they say they want to do.
But motivation is unreliable. It shows up when things feel easy and disappears the moment something feels uncomfortable.
The women who consistently take action are not waiting to feel motivated. They have practiced following through until it becomes part of who they are.
In this episode, we talk about how to build that habit.
In this third episode of the March series on taking action, we move from understanding the problem to learning the practical process of building the habit of follow through.
You will learn why starting too big often leads to quitting, how identity shapes your habits, and why consistent action creates the evidence that transforms the way you think about yourself.
This episode will help you stop waiting for motivation and start becoming the woman who follows through.
• Your brain is wired for the motivational triad: seeking pleasure, avoiding pain, and conserving energy. This is why resistance shows up when something feels uncomfortable.
• Most people fail at habits because they start too big and overwhelm their brain.
• One of the most powerful principles for change is this: start where you are and commit to what you are willing to do consistently.
• The goal in the beginning is consistency, not intensity.
• Habits stick when they are connected to identity.
• Every action you take creates evidence for who you believe you are.
• Confidence grows when you collect evidence that you follow through.
• As Christian women, we are not taking action to prove our worth. Our worth is already settled. We take action as an act of stewardship.
You do not become a disciplined woman overnight.
You become disciplined by practicing discipline today.
One action. One decision. One renewed thought at a time.

Many women believe they are not taking action because they lack motivation. They tell themselves they just need more discipline, more willpower, or the right moment to feel ready.
But motivation is rarely the real issue.
In this episode, we go deeper and talk about why taking action actually matters. Because action is not just about getting things done. Action is shaping who you become.
In this episode of The Christian Life Coach Podcast, we explore why taking action is essential for lasting transformation.
Many women stay stuck waiting to feel motivated, but the real shift happens when we understand how our actions shape identity. Every action creates evidence, and that evidence influences what we believe about ourselves.
Shanna explains how habits are not just behaviors but the physical expression of our beliefs. When we understand how our thinking drives our actions, we can begin to build habits that align with the woman God created us to be.
You will also learn why identity is not fixed, why your “why” matters more than you think, and how small consistent actions begin reshaping your beliefs and your life.
• Motivation is not the main barrier to action. Your thinking is.
• Identity is not fixed. Identity is practiced through repeated actions.
• Habits are the physical expression of what you believe about yourself.
• Every action creates evidence that strengthens belief.
• Belief shapes identity, and identity influences future behavior.
• Your why behind the action determines whether you stay consistent.
• Transformation begins when we renew our thinking and take aligned action.
You do not need to become a completely different person overnight.
You simply need to begin practicing the identity of the woman you want to become.
One decision. One action. One renewed thought at a time.

You say you want to change. You make the plans. You promise yourself that this week will be different.
And then you don’t follow through.
If that cycle feels familiar, this episode will bring clarity and relief. Because the issue is not laziness and it is not a lack of desire. It is something happening inside your brain that most people never stop to examine.
In this episode of The Christian Life Coach Podcast, we begin the March series on taking action by addressing a question many women quietly wrestle with: Why do I keep saying I’m going to change and then not doing it?
Shanna walks through how the brain is wired for survival through something called the Motivational Triad. Your brain constantly seeks pleasure, avoids pain, and conserves energy. That wiring helped our ancestors survive, but it does not naturally produce discipline or follow through.
You will also learn how the Creation Cycle explains the connection between your thoughts, your emotions, your actions, and your results. When you understand this process, you stop shaming yourself and start leading your mind on purpose.
This episode will help you see that you are not broken. You simply need to learn how to work with your brain instead of letting it run the show.
• You are not lazy. Your brain is wired to seek pleasure, avoid pain, and conserve energy.
• The Motivational Triad explains why comfort and distraction often win over discipline.
• Your thoughts create feelings, feelings drive actions, and actions create your results.
• Emotional avoidance is one of the biggest reasons people fail to take action.
• Identity matters. You act in alignment with who you believe you are.
• Waiting for motivation keeps you stuck in passive thinking.
• Transformation happens when you renew your mind and take intentional action.
You are not stuck.
You are simply running the default programming of the brain.
When you learn to examine your thoughts, allow discomfort, and choose intentional action, everything begins to shift.
Not overnight. But steadily.
And that steady change builds a life of consistency, clarity, and self leadership.
If this episode helped you understand your brain in a new way, share it with a friend who is tired of starting over.
And if you want deeper transformation rooted in renewing your mind, make sure you are subscribed to the podcast so you do not miss the rest of the March series on taking action.
