  • Ep 31 February, Italian Citizenship law 30th, strong friends

    TW Suicide

    Hello Everyone,

Welcome! It's been some time since my last episode, I hope you're well!

We're coming in hot in this episode talking about Black History Month and why despite Italy doesn't have an official celebration is still important to strive to acknowledge the history in the making by Black people in this country. The Italian current citizenship law has turned 30 years old, how does it set Black and POC Italians back? This law can create a sense of alienation for many.

In this episode, we will also talk about the case of Cheslie Kryst formal miss American that was a victim of suicide. I share with you how we need to go beyond looks to acknowledge people's mental health struggles and some tips on how to support your "strong friend", coming from one.

Here is a global website in case you are struggling with suicidal thoughts: https://www.opencounseling.com/suicide-hotlines

Take care, you're not alone, Enjoy x

  • EP 30 Health, MLK day, British Vogue cover, a New Italian President
    Ciao Everyone,
In this episode, I share with you my experience with isolation due to the "Omarion" variant" from my symptoms, tips,  and my experience with isolation with the hopes to help you to navigate these times. Thankfully I'm doing a lot better!
Recently MLK day was celebrated in the US, in this, I share with you the role that Martin Luther King had in my life and the importance of his foreign policy. As we're talking about Black History, on the latest British Vogue cover by Rafael Pavarotti highlighting the talents of top models from the African continent, some didn't appreciate this cover and others have found it as a powerful representation, well as you can imagine I have an opinion. As we are talking about representation, the new president of the Italian Republic will be elected and a discussion is open about gender representation, well is it enough?

Olivia shares with us about her journey became a photographer and the importance of not limiting yourself by your age. She was born in Congo, she great up in Belgium and she has been based in London for more than 10 years.
And of course, two awkward Black Girls like us had to discuss the Insecure Finale.  Are you team Lawarence or Team Nathan? Well as Luvvie Ajayi Jones said, the real love story in Insecure is Issa's and Molly's friendship and this has given us the opportunity to discuss mine and Olivia's friendship and how we maintain a long-distance friendship.

  • Ep 25 Diasporahood with my mamma Felicia Efua Annan: Italy, food, language and discrimination

    Ciao Everyone,

Today I'm not alone for the shortest but probably one of the most powerful Diasporahood episodes with my mum, Felicia Efua Annan.

In this episode, my mum will share her first impressions of Italy, some regrets but also something that she learnt, like cooking Italian food as a young immigrant woman. Also, she shares some thoughts on racism: one thing that she faced, how she felt when I started especially facing racism but also the differences between the UK and Italy.

Please, show my mum some love,

  • Ep 24 Halloween, Squid Game, DDL Zan, Equal Pay, Tampon tax

    Ciao Everyone,

We are back with a solo episode. I share with you some of my precious Halloween Memories and my thoughts on Squid Game as someone low-key obsessed with K-Dramas. Did I enjoy it? Let's find out!

In this episode, I also share with you the disappointment of the lack of approval at the Senate of the Zan Law here in Italy that would have defined hate crime against members of the LGBTQ+ community, Women, and People with Disabilities. We've seen a little bit of hope although with the approval of the law for equal pay for men and women and the reduction of the tampon tax, get ready because my political voice is on!

  • Ep 22 Milan Fashion Week, Mimmo Lucano, Internalized Misogyny

    TW Gender violence, hate crimes

    Ciao,

    Happy New Month!

September is one of the fashion months and the Milan is among the fashion capitals. How has the fashion industry changed following the 2020 Black Live Matter protests?

Talking about social justice and politics in Italy we have seen the unfair sentence of the pro-integration mayor of Riace, Mimmo Lucano. In this episode, I share my feelings and disappointment in the justice system and political parties.

Something that also caused much disappointment it's the Italian media one more time failing to address misogyny with the words of journalism Barbara Palombelli that instead of addressing the issue of violence against women, she has done more damage. I share some thoughts on howI struggled with internalized misogyny.
