Ok bad pun aside, today I want to focus on a great initiative in Brussels that transforms excavated earth of construction sites into building materials. As such, they use probably one of the biggest waste flows of cities, which is by the way a local resource, and reduce the need for construction materials. To let us know more about this fascinating initiative I have Anton Maertens the Business developer at BC Materials.

On this episode, we talk about how earth can be a local, low-tech, circular and carbon-neutral construction material. We learn how BC Materials went from a crazy idea to an urban manufacturing company making Brussels more circular. We learn about the challenges that they are facing as well as their vision for a future construction sector that would enable staying under the 1.5°C.
