  • The Only 3 Reasons You Hate The Phone

Let's face it, you'd rather pop your own eye out with a rusty teaspoon than make another phone call. As a salesperson, you've been here. Probably more than once. Add to that there are a bunch of people making very valid points about the phone being dead and that they have a "more effective method" of prospecting, emailing, cold-calling, marketing, etc.

  • ADVERSITY: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom

ADVERSITY:  The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom  This week's Wednesday Word, Adversity is a noun.  ADVERSITY DEFINITION:  : difficulties; misfortune; as in "resilience in the face of adversity" : a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune  ADVERSITY ETYMOLOGY:  Middle English: from Old French adversite, from Latin adversitas, from advertere ‘turn towards’.  FROM Vacabulary.com:  “When circumstances or situations work against you, you face adversity.  For example, refugees from war-torn countries encounter terrible adversity.  In the Bible, The Jews enslaved in Egypt faced adversity while enslaved and God also delivered some adversity on the Egyptians until Pharaoh released them and then they got another 40 years of adversity in the desert.  If you, like me watch UFC, some of the best fights are the ones where a fighter faces adversity.  Where it looks like they're going to lose and somehow manage to comeback and win.  Silva / Sonnen I comes to mind.  Adversity, which is a noun has been part of the English language for over 800 years. It comes from the Latin adversus, literally means "turned against," and figuratively "hostile or unfavorable."  So, when things seem against you, whether that's circumstances or a stroke of bad luck, you are facing adversity.  Sometimes people use a form of the phrase "turning adversity into opportunity." This refers to the ability some people or companies have to take a bad situation and make it into a successful one.”  ADVERSITY ACTION IDEAS:  Quotes to implement:  "Problems are opportunities."  -Grant Cardone "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change."  -Wayne Dyer  Exercise:  How can you develop the ability to make lemonade?  Take a moment and look at what adversities have you experienced in your life so far?  What opportunities can you find in them?  And if you can't find any, then what opportunities can you create from them?  Have you ever seen the CTL + ALT + DELETE meme?  I thought of this when going over this word.  What can CTL + ALT + DELETE do for you in while the face of adversity?  CTL yourself ALTer your thinking DELETE negativity

    Bruce Lee and Sales Training

Arguably, one of the most quoted lines from Bruce Lee is “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”  How could you apply this to sales training?

And if you're a fan of Bruce Lee, you've probably seen the image about when you should be practicing which basically comes down to all the time you're not actually doing the thing you're practicing for.

And with that, let's just firm a few things up...

    PROGRESSION:  The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom

noun DEFINITION: the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state. a succession; a series.  ETYMOLOGY: “forward walk”  late Middle English: from Old French, from Latin progressio(n- ), from the verb progredi (see progress).  PROGRESS - late Middle English (as a noun): from Latin progressus ‘an advance’, from the verb progredi, from pro- ‘forward’ + gradi ‘to walk’.   ACTION IDEA:  What does the phrase progress not perfection mean to you? In our 100 Ways To Stay Motivated series, the first course is on Potential, and the first training in that course is work to your potential, not your quota.  The exercise that goes w/ that is to write down what your potential is and compare it to a current “quota” in your life.  The question I would have for you is HOW are you progressing TOWARDS your true potential?  NOTES: the past is for psychos / insane 1847, from psychopathy on model of German psychopatisch, from Greek psykhē "mind" (see psyche) + pathos "suffering" (from PIE root *kwent(h)- "to suffer"). Insane from in- "not" (see in- (1)) + sanus "well, healthy, sane" rearview mirror vs windshield be in the future and on the next thing be in prediction more one step ahead  PRACTICAL: Think of one moment you always focus on from your past. Write down three ways of how you can get yourself out of the past or present and into the future. Put these ways into practice today

  • ATTRACTION: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom

    ATTRACTION: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom

    noun

DEFINITION of ATTRACTION:   the action or power of evoking interest, pleasure, or liking for someone or something. a quality or feature that evokes interest, liking, or desire. a place which draws visitors by providing something of interest or pleasure. a force under the influence of which objects tend to move toward each other.

ETYMOLOGY of ATTRACTION: c. 1400, attraccioun, originally medical, "action or property of drawing (diseased matter) to the surface," from Old French atraccion (13c.) and directly from Latin attractionem (nominative attractio) "a drawing together," noun of action from past-participle stem of attrahere "to draw, pull"  Extended by c. 1600 to magnetic forces; figurative sense "quality in a person which draws interest or imagination" is from c. 1600. Meaning "a thing which draws a crowd, interesting or amusing exhibition" is from 1829, a sense that developed in English and soon transferred to the French equivalent of the word. The Latin root word tract means “drag” or “pull.” This root word gives rise to many English vocabulary words, including attraction, subtract, and contract. ACTION IDEAS for ATTRACTION: What kind of an attraction are you? What are you attracting? What diseased matter are you dragging / pulling that you need to let go of? What will you replace it with?
