This was playoff hockey at it's finest. The Colorado Avalanche found themselves down 3-1 after two periods with all the momentum going the way of the Edmonton Oilers. They needed a spark. They got it in the form of a first shift goal by Devon Toews that set the tone for a wild and crazy 3rd period. When regulation was over, 60 minutes was not enough as the game headed into overtime tied at 5.

We talk a lot about Joe Sakic and how he seems to make all the right moves. Nabbing Arturri Lehkonen at the trade deadline was a move everyone loved. He sent the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Finals on a game winning goal last season, and he made Joe Sakic look like even more of a genius by doing it again. This time with the Colorado Avalanche.

For the first time since the 2000-2001 season the Avs will play for the best trophy in sports. Their opponent is not set yet, but for today, it doesn't matter. Avalanche fans are celebrating the accomplishment by would could go down as the best team in franchise history,. That is, if they can pull off one more series win.
