The Colorado Avalanche needed a bounce back win after a poor performance against the Winnipeg Jets. They got it in the fashion of two points and a win against the Buffalo Sabres, but maybe not in the way they normally like.

In a game filled with penalties and some miscues, there was also a lot to like. Such as Nathan MacKinnon scoring five points, and JT Compher with four more.

But the Avs struggled to really put the Sabres away. Penalties had a lot to do with that.
