While there are a number of reasons for America's fascination with royalty, it probably comes as no surprise that we want to consider the life and death of Queen Elizabeth from a biblical perspective.
In the book of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar, the great king of kings and lord of lords, has a dream that greatly troubles him and its interpretation tells us a great deal about the purpose that God has for kings and their empires and how he has and will use them to glorify himself. We can see this play itself out throughout history and if we look carefully, we can see how it has played out in the life and times of Queen Elizabeth and her kingdom.
There are other issues worth discussing as well. The world has and always will have a certain fascination with power and wealth, and there is the danger of treating the powerful with partiality. God’s word has much to say on this topic. We also talk about the fact that the queen is the head of the church of England and has sworn an oath regarding the security of the Protestant religion and the Presbyterian Church of Scotland. There are many who argue that because of this position and these oaths the queen should be considered a Christian. But is that the right way to think?

It's impossible to discuss how Christians should vote without addressing what the Bible says about women in leadership in the civil government. So in a continuation of our last episode on the qualifications God gives for candidates we discuss God's call for men to lead.
As election season approaches, it's worth asking what the Bible says about voting. What qualifications does scripture give for civil magistrates? And are Christians bound by those, or are we free to vote for the lesser of two evils?
We discuss how the church can labor to counter to our death-loving culture by creating a positive culture of life.
The Trinity is a firmly established doctrine of Christianity, but many people see the triune nature of God as a doctrine that while important does not significantly impact the world or how they understand it. We want to argue against that. The fact that God is one and yet three is fundamental to understanding His nature and so it should come as no surprise that the Trinity is manifested throughout creation. It is an important point of doctrine that in all existence, the Trinity is unique and so we cannot explain the Trinity by examining created things. But the opposite of that is not true, as it says in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” And while this does not mean that natural man can correctly understand the three persons of the Godhead or their eternal relationships, these properties and relationships of the Godhead shape the world and help those who truly know Him to better understand it. The Trinity is an important doctrine, and all doctrine is useful for equipping the people of God so that we might better serve and worship him. Please join us as we discuss the implications of this important doctrine.

A lot of people take science for granted. They assume that the process is set in stone and that people wearing lab coats who had gone to college for years will go into their laboratory or work on their computers and discover new truths and facts about the universe and that through trial and error and application, those new discoveries will eventually work their way down to the general public, changing our lives in subtle and occasionally, groundbreaking ways. But events over the last twenty years demonstrate that all is not as clear cut or set in stone in the world of science as many people think. Whether you consider the false discovery of the gay gene, climate change (the science formerly known as global warming) and its surrounding hysteria, the health policies of the coronavirus pandemic, or the rise and promotion of gender dysphoria, the cracks in the foundation of the kingdom of science are growing larger and more obvious by the day, and make it clear that all has not been well for a very long time.
In this episode we talk about what science actually is compared to how it is commonly presented to the world. We talk about how modern science has become political and driven by narrative rather than fact and how this has been going on for a very long time (at least since Darwin, almost certainly longer) We also discuss how science depends upon the nature of God and how he made the world to be consistent thereby allowing us to understand him and to discover those things that can be known through labor, observation, and experience. Toward the end of the episode, we refer to a commencement address at Caltech in 1974 given by Dr. Richard Feynman where he discusses how science can become a sort of religion and how a stringent and unflinching integrity is needed to prevent that from happening. His obersvations are very useful as he cautions the graduates that he believes it will be very difficult to keep science from changing as he can already see it happening. And finally, we discuss the church and how we must labor to regain so much of what we have surrendered to the world. Please join us as we discuss these and other issues.

Due process is in many ways, the glue that holds a just society together. It allows sinful men and women to seek justice without violating the rights of those who have been accused and puts safeguards in place to prevent the abuse of power. And while we tend to think of justice as being a function of the civil government, justice is and should be a part of every aspect of our lives including our familial relationships, our church, work, schools, and associations. But as much as due process is necessary for the continuation of a free society, it also requires that people at all levels of society understand its necessity and that they demand its rules be followed for everyone. When the people, particularly the people of God, forget the necessity of due process, partiality and other forms of injustice increase, and tyranny, the arbitrary enforcement of the law, becomes the norm.
As the WHO and the USA declare a public health emergency for monkeypox, it's worth asking the question - how concerned should we be?
Do Christians have to obey laws we think are stupid, and what are are telling our children when we don’t?
In early July, a story broke about a 10-year-old Ohio girl who had been raped and had to travel to Indiana to get an abortion after Ohio’s heartbeat law went into effect. The story stirred up controversy from the beginning, partly due to a scarcity of details and some inaccurate reporting, but a few things became evident. Conservative leaders were generally hesitant to say that the baby should not be killed in this situation (this is obviously not true of everyone, but we spent some time looking at responses from major figures and we think that’s a fair summary). This is partly due to Roe v Wade being the effective law of the land for almost 50 years, with the result being that almost every part of American life has been trained to consider abortion as a potential solution for the “problem” of an unwanted pregnancy. And because we are moral beings and we all fundamentally understand that abortion is murder, it means that as a society we have had to tell ourselves many lies and have had to ignore many other sins to sell ourselves on the idea that abortion is good for women and good for our culture. But this goes even deeper because God says that the church is the light of the world and the salt of the earth. The American church is not comfortable with the fact that God opens and closes the womb in every instance. We may reject abortion, but we have become very comfortable with the idea of family planning and choosing how many children we will have. The church needs to understand that it is hypocritical to expect the unsaved world to have faith that God caused a specific instance of rape to result in pregnancy and that a 10-year-old girl should carry the child to term when the people of God are unwilling to bear and raise the children than our Lord and Savior would give to us. We should expect the judgment of God upon us for our hypocrisy if we are not willing to repent. We also discuss some of the lesser reported details of this case as they demonstrate how our willingness to murder children has caused us to ignore and cover up other sins that we as a society do not want to confront.
