  • 081: Choosing the Right Social Platform for Your Biz

Being active on social media is tough. It's time-consuming, there's the endless (oops!) scroll to consider, and you're not really sure if you're showing up in the right place. And my guess is that you may not even consider all the social media platforms out there.

On today's episode, I'm not going to wave a magic wand and you'll suddenly know which platform is the right one for you and your business. Instead, we're going to take a quick look at all the options out there--and I think you'll be surprised at a few that I mention.

The goal here is to see the possibilities and that they go well beyond your traditional social media platforms. You might be surprised!

  • 079: Leveraging Simple LinkedIn Strategies with Louise Brogan

I think LinkedIn gets swept to the side in the online business world. We're so focused on connecting on Instagram and being active in Facebook groups that we get stuck in the scroll and forget that our audience might be on LinkedIn. I'm completely guilty of that too, and I know that many of my 1:1 clients are actually hanging out on LinkedIn.

So let's stop forgetting about this network-building platform and dig into why LinkedIn is so important for our businesses. And to be fair, LinkedIn isn't for every business. Just like Instagram or Twitter isn't for every business.

On this episode of the Stories in Small Business podcast, Louise Brogan is sharing about some LinkedIn post types you may not know about, how to increase the shelf life of your posts, what to include in your profile, platform best practices, and much more.

  • 078: Plan Your Content for 2021... Sort Of

I know you've seen the podcast episodes, blog posts, and ads for online tools that all promise a quick and easy way to plan out your content for weeks, months, even years at a time. I'm guessing that's why you clicked on this episode and decided you'd give it a try.

Well, the title might be a little clickbaity. Because it's not going to teach you how to plan out your content for the coming year. Why? Because frankly, that's not possible.

There are so many reasons why I don't want you to plan out your 2021 content, not the least of which being...Well, were you in business in 2020?

There was more pivoting and changing directions going on this year than I could even touch on. It would be a waste of your time and money to plan more than a few months ahead. That said, I DO think there's a lot you can do to get ready for the next month, quarter, and year. And THAT's what this episode is all about.

  • 075: Don't Overthink Content and Just Do Something

For so many business owners, the idea of creating content is paralyzing. To so many, content is synonymous with blog or writing. And while, yes, a lot of content is written. SO much is not. (BTW, it's also really easy to get help with your written content. Just sayin'.)

But that's not what this episode is about. It's about how to think about content in a different way, in a way that makes it easy to simply put something out there and to stop overthinking it.

Yes, content should be professional and thought-out, but it can also be so much more. It can be more personal and thought-provoking. It can spotlight a cause or a belief you feel strongly about. And it can also be something quick, a response to something someone else posted.

Listen in to today's short and sweet episode about just doing something now and not worrying about perfection. It's time to get out there!

But maybe the thought of creating a course feels overwhelming to you. After all, looking at some of the courses you've bought (or thought about buying) you're terrified of the work. Hours of videos, pages and pages (and pages!) of workbooks and downloadables, all the bonuses...it's a lot!

Here's a secret: A good course is not about ALL the stuff that comes with it. It's about action and transformation. And today's guest, Emily Walker, shares all the details about how to do it right.

  • 072: A Word About Providing (and Buying) Services

No matter what kind of business you run or what your life looks like, you pay people for services. Whether it's a tune-up for your car, your virtual assistant for posting social media posts for you, a business coach to guide you to your next goal or an accountant to help with your taxes or bookkeeping...you don't do life or business alone.

But something that comes up again and again (and again!) is how people charge and pay for these services. Fees for services should not be simply the amount of time it takes for a service provider to "do the thing." There's so much more that goes into pricing than that.

And make no mistake...I'm no pricing expert. But I do have quite a bit of experience both running a service-based business and paying others for services--as a business owner and a consumer.

Tune in to this episode to hear my take on pricing for services, then share with me on Instagram your thoughts!
