Tonight on the Corner Blitz, we kill off the last few hours before the arrival of Hurricane Francine in Southwest Mississippi by talking about the Invictus Football Club with its founder, Jeremy Johnson, lovingly called Coach Werm. Brad, Benji and Adam also run through the list of high school football games postponed or moved due to weather, continue piling on the MAIS for its monumentally bad idea of creating a Super 16 Conference (now a Super 20!) and try to guess how terrible attendance will be for Trustmark Park's new Frontier League baseball team.

This week, The Corner Blitz hands the microphone to a deserving Gareth Sartin, recently named principal at Bogue Chitto Attendance Center after 22 years of coaching the Bobcats football team. Sartin talks at length about his time at Bogue Chitto, coaching kids and coaching the kids' kids, hollering at baseball players, not really knowing what to do in the stands at a football game and swapping his gym shorts for khaki pants. Tonight's guest host is Keith Cline, agent with Pike County Farm Bureau and volunteer at C.A.M.O. Ministries. On a special bro-bro episode of The Corner Blitz, we're joined by Daily Leader Sports Editor Cliff Furr for a deep, DEEP dive on the MAIS Super 16 Conference proposal, and we talk for more than an hour about how it would work (and why it won't work), what it would accomplish (or fail to accomplish) and exactly whom in the Mississippi Asociation of Independent Schools would be happy with a Super 16 Conference (nobody, really). Word on the street is the Super 16 is a done deal, so be prepared for your favorite school to have totally unpredictable and untimely computer issues on reclassification headcount day. Benji, Adam and the Brads also discuss some talking points for local high school football teams; which of the preseason AP Top 10 football teams will suck by Christmas (it's Florida State); Snoop Dogg using his Olympics money to buy weed; and Collin Kaepernick ain't walking through that door. Head coaches Darien Dorsey and Tonya Johns bring along state champion student athletes Jasmine Robertson, Ariyana Graham, Xavier Gayten and Coderro McDaniel. They tell us about training the body by feeding it Wendy's baconator fries, and most importantly, training the mind for track and field events. Coach Bill Wallace guest hosts with Adam and they also get into the biggest coaching carousel in high school sports in Southwest Mississippi anyone can remember, the sheer awesomeness of college softball and how criminally unfair it is the NCAA expects FCS and non-football Division One schools to help pay out the $2.8 billion settlement it owes to 20,000 athletes because universities got fat on major college football money and hoarded the wealth to themselves all those years.
