The Cosmic Citizen

The bygone staple of the tent revival will be reincarnated on a bucolic North Carolinafarm as The Wild Goose Festival. Nearly 10 years in the making, the festival is an attempt to reimagine Christianity for the 21st century under a bigger, wider more inclusive tent With musicians such as David Wilcox and Michelle Shocked, and speakers such as Brian McLaren, Jay Bakker, and Shane Claiborne, festival leaders hope to establish the premier venue for 20-somethings who love God but aren't thrilled with institutional Christianity, particularly the religious right. "We want to look each other in the eye and say, 'We may not agree on everything but we're going to recognize our essential humanity,'" said Mike Morrell, a blogger in Raleigh, N.C., and festival spokesman.  Unlike other high-profile Christian events, the Wild Goose Festival will try to reverse the traditional dynamic between speakers and their audience. At least 20 of the speakers will frame questions for the audience and then sit among them as they listen to possible answers. Cosmic Citizen’s fearless leader Paula Thompson, will be attending and interviewing people on the air live on site.  Please join us for what promises to be a very dynamic program.  We won’t be taking incoming callers except those scheduled, so please do not expect to be able to call in with comments or questions.  You may do so on the chat room this weekend. .

Jennifer Skiff (link to bio), author of the book God Stories has collected a wide variety of testimonies from various faith-traditions; stories of how God's grace has touched people's lives.     Jennifer is currently working with Oprah Winfrey, as well as a team of Hollywood writers and directors for a dramatic television series based on the book.     Jennifer Skiff’s award-winning career as an international television journalist includes more than a decade as an investigative correspondent for CNN. Her specialty is the environment and among other industry honors, she has received the prestigious Environmental Media Award. Passionate about animals and their welfare, she works with charities throughout the world to bring relief to abused and abandoned animals.     A cancer scare in her early thirties convinced her that a Divine presence was active in her life. Her journalistic instincts took over and she began a quest to find out if others had similar experiences. The result is her first book, God Stories, a collection of inspiring first-person accounts of miracle-like encounters with God.
