  • War on Seagal 2: Against the Dark

The War on notorious Hollywood scumbag, Steven Seagal, returns as the boys take aim at 2009's supposed action-horror, Against the Dark.

In this one, Seagal wears a leather duster and carries a sword, leading a group of hunters as they battle against virus-created zombies/vampires/mutants (even the film doesn't know what they are), as they try to save a group of survivors from being trapped in the most well-defended hospital this side of Fort Knox. Except, it's not really that well-defended, since the infected are constantly roaming just round the corner. Ahh, this "film" *shakes head* ...

Join Wayne and Paul as they continue to tear the belly out of Steven Seagal and the second half of his "career" ... as The Countdown continues.

  • Top 10 TV Opening Credit Sequences

    Countdown #393

The final countdown to the final countdown of this iteration of the show, The Countdown - confused yet? - begins with the very best opening credits to any and all television series since the dawn of the box.

There's a good mix of classic and contemporary in the guys' lists this week, but that doesn't stop Paul from being bothered by at least one of Wayne's choices, and Wayne return firing at one of the greatest British sci-fi shows ever made.

So, yes, more bantering and bickering than you can poke a stock at, and this week without crappy accents! Why wouldn't you get involved?

  • See How They Run review

Pip pip, tally ho and huzzah!

The good ol' fashioned English murder mystery is back, but with a comedic meta/satirical twist! Can our daring movie investigators, Paul and Wayne, determine whether this film is a crime against cinema, or innocent of being anything more than charmingly entertaining?

  • Top 10 London Films
    Countdown #392

In this week's show, the guys are interested in all things London, as they countdown their favourite ten films set in that most magnificent city. (And it means the C-bomb can be dropped more often than usual - so, please, consider yourself warned.)

Can Wayne look past Guy Ritchie? Who will have more Matthew Vaughan films? And does anyone have a film pre-1990 film on their list?

But wait! There's more. How wrong can Paul be about a Wet Wet Wet song? And does Wayne have the foggiest clue as who plays the female lead in a Guy Ritchie film about a famous detective? But more than all that, what is the BIG announcement the guys have to share re the future of the show at the end of this week's Ep?

  • Don’t Worry Darling review
The boys get along to an early screening (by current Australian standards) of Olivia Wilde's sophomore film, Don't Worry Darling, which is already infamous for the purported behind the scenes shenanigans that took place. The question is will that infamy outlive the film itself?

But hold onto your hats, good listener. Because just when you think this is going to be a straight forward review, Wayne comes along with such a Wayne-take, you'll be shaking your head in dumbfounded appreciation. Or maybe horror. One of the two.

  • Top 10 Last 10: Halloween is Coming Edition
    Countdown #391

The Top 10 Last 10 episode returns and with it so do the recommendations on what to avoid AND seek out as Paul and Wayne countdown ten of their most recent watches from worst to best, with no other linking criteria.

And just because Halloween is right around the corner, Paul is spicing up his list with a whole lot (more) of horror. Which is only a pity because they're almost all at the bottom half of his list. Wayne, meanwhile, has listened to his co-host and sought out a film he recommended. Will he enjoy it? And just how many animated superhero films are on his list?

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power review
Amazon has gambled on Tolkien's vision creating a better than 1 BILLION dollar return on five seasons of a new Lord of the Rings show. So do the first three episodes bode well for such an investment?

Wayne and Paul have their opinions - and a podcast - so guess what they're going to do? If you bothered to read this far and are still interested, could there be dissension in the ranks? Will Wayne, finally, appreciate a LotR product appropriately? And what of Paul - he who normally defends everything that doesn't have the word "hobbit" in the title? Will roles be reversed?

  • Top 10 Fist Pumping Television Moments (w/ Dan from Netflix N Swill)
    Countdown #390

This week, Dan from Netflix N Swill joins the boys to help countdown his own genius idea: The Top 10 Fist Pumping Television Moments. Which, to be clear, is about those moments that absolutely had you leaping off the couch, yelling "Yessssss!" and, for a precious few seconds, rendering everything in your world perfect.

Prepare yourselves, then, for a Countdown unlike any other, as Dan goes "Full Dan" with more of a particular type of genre than has been mentioned throughout the combined previous 389 episodes of the show. Then there's Wayne all but frothing at the mouth while discussing some of his choices, as he touches on everything from childhood classics to personal hits; while Paul just tries to keep the show from going completely off the rails - even though it still gets to a Gerald-Morris-patience-testing 90 minutes. Who will have the superior Daredevil moment? Has Netflix N Swill yet been taken down by Netflix, and which television fight scene rules them all?

Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...

P.S. Be aware! Spoilers for the shows mentioned abound throughout this episode, and during the Pop 10 there are some spoilers for Season 4 of Stranger Things.

  • House of the Dragon review
So, once upon a time, there was this great new show called Game of Thrones. It started small, but quickly developed a mass following as it swept all before it with its amazing story-telling, impressive world-building, and surprising character fates.

But GoT eventually fell prey to the greedy machinations of its creators, and its last season sucked harder than the vacuum of space, so when a spin-off, prequel series was announced, the fans were dubious.

As a result, Paul and Wayne have bravely stepped into the maw of the dragon to review the first three episodes of this series chronicling the war among House Targaryen, and invite you to join them in deciding whether no Benioff and Weiss means a good show can be resurrected?

  • Top 10 College Movies
    Countdown #389

This week the boys go back to their peak study years - which, in Wayne's case lasted about three months - to countdown the very best college set films!

How many gross out comedies can Wayne squeeze onto his list? And for that matter, will Paul talk about every horror movie set on a college campus? Or are there a few shocks in store beyond the fact that Paul has never seen Animal House?
