  • Venom: Let ThereBe Carnage review
There's plenty of carnage in this review for this sequel to Sony's inexplicably smash-hit, Venom, as Paul (in particular) tees off on one of the worst superhero films he can recall seeing. Wayne is somewhat more tempered in his reaction, but is also bamboozled by some of the shoddy film-making and terrible script-writing on display here.

Join in on this audio carnage before sampling the one on film, as The Countdown continues ...

Join Paul and Wayne as they call out the worst things to sully their TV screens and handheld devices (sorry Sir Ridley), before getting to the main event as they countdown the very best seasons of television in 2021!

What returning favourites will still be in their good graces? What new show is Wayne truly shocked Paul also has on his list? And is Paul's number one, the best example of a listener triumph since the show began?

  • Ghostbusters: Afterlife review
    Who you gonna call?

Well, clearly, Wayne and Paul, because their review for the Ghostbusters sequel the fans have long been waiting for is here! And by "here", the boys mean the rest of the world, because this one doesn't open in Australia until Jan 1st, but with thanks to Sony Pictures, they got to see it "early" (again, only in Australian terms.)

Does Jason Reitman - the son of a genius - deliver like his old man once did? Or does he fumble the proton pack like Ivan did when he went back to the well in 1989?

  • Top 10 Written and Directed By Films
    Countdown #348

This week the guys are attempting to celebrate those incredible filmmakers who have a singular vision and are able to deliver on it, as they countdown the Top 10 films written and directed by one person.

Except, of course, things fly off the rails very fast as Paul makes a late critical change to his list. Not to be outdone, Wayne changes his list as he hits certain points of his list not once, but twice, have completely failed to do his due diligence AGAIN!

Cue much griping from Paul and laughing from Wayne, at least until the Soundboard enters the fray, and the laughing gives way to much cursing (and bitching) from the W-meister.
So all in all, it's much like an episode of old, as The Countdown continues ...

  • Eternals review
It's been stacks on the Eternals out in the review world, and now that it has FINALLY dropped in Australia, the guys have gotten check it out for themselves. Wayne is once again Negatroning it; whereas - shock, horror! - Paul defends this latest outing from the MCU ... to a point.

Could Paul's score have been artificially inflated by his appreciation for Gemma, Salma and Angelina? Is Wayne too focused on being entertained every minute of his day? And how much would it suck being a kid for all eternity?Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...

  • Our Top 10 Favourite Songs in Film
    Countdown #347

This week the guys open a port to their hearts and invite you to come along for the ride, as they name their top 10 favourite songs used in films. Of course, there's a mismatch in the brief - despite some very clear chat messages (screenshots to be posted to social media upon request hahaha) - which means Wayne is working harder to justify the scene he has chosen, while Paul is all about how good the song is.

Just the same, there's 20 songs here that speak to the boys in one way or another, so tune in, sit back and prepare to be teleported away to the sounds of an especially musical ep (no, no THAT kind of musical; NEVER that kind!) ... as the Countdown continues.

  • No Time to Die review
Wayne can barely conceal the swell in his pants for this week's review. It's kind of understandable though, as he's been having to put a lid on it since April of 2020 when the final installment in the Daniel Craig James Bond franchise was originally meant to release. But now, finally, it's time to die and Wayne is allll over it. Paul, meanwhile, offers a more down to earth, less squealing (more sleepy) fan-person take. So, yes, the inevitable clash of perspectives eventually comes to pass in this review.

Find out just how large that clash is - as well as so much more - as The Countdown continues ...

  • Nicolas Cage VERSUS Bruce Willis
    Countdown #346

This week's short and not-so-sweet Countdown pits the filmographies of two everyday people action stars, Nicolas Cage and Bruce Willis, against each other to determine who has made the superior mark on cinema! Except along the way, Wayne mortally offends Paul with one of his choices, and from there it's on for young and old ...

  • Last Night in Soho review
Paul is all excited because Edgar Wright's newest film, Last Night in Soho, has finally reached Australian shores as part of the British Film Festival. Wayne shares some of that excitement, but doesn't have the same Wright expectations, so who ends up liking this one more? And just how much is Wayne's take on the film inflated by the '60s fashion in display?

  • Top 10 Box Office Flops of the 2010s (with Jason from Binge Movies)
    Countdown #345

This week Jason from the Binge Movies podcast returns to the show to assist in counting down a brief so complex, it was destined to go completely off the rails (and does!): the Top 10 Box Office Flops of the 2010s.

Whether ranking this one by actual box office return, unmet expectations, how terrible the film was, or by some intensely personal combination of the three factors, Paul, Wayne and Jason get into some of the worst received films of the last decade, and no studio or genre is safe!

But rest assured, that even when a guest is present and the topic may not lend itself to inappropriate humour, the boys will never, ever let you down in that regard. in fact, things get so out of control that Jason gets swept along for the ride in the first five minutes, uttering a word so filthy, he's never said it before on his show.

Find out what that word is - as well as a whole bunch of films you probably don't need to watch, if you've been fortunate enough to avoid them so far - as The Countdown continues ...
