  • Borat Subsequent Moviefilm review

This week Paul is excited to check out a sequel 14 years in the making, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, while Wayne - given he is the comedy guy - is oddly less excited to do the same.

What is Wayne's issue? Does Paul's positivity survive the film's length? And how many people does Sacha Baron Cohen offend and/or make look like a fool?

Learn the answers to all these questions and more as The Countdown continues ...

  • Top 10 US Presidential Films

    Countdown #292

This week The Countdown goes topical as this Ep drops on the day of the 2020 US Election. So Paul & Wayne decided to jump on that bandwagon by talking the Top 10 US Presidential Films (for which they should have thanked and totally forgot to Chris O'Neill for the stellar idea - sorry Chris!)

Of course this is a pretty loose brief, so Wayne immediately goes in a weird direction, which gets's Paul's goat, resulting in incredulity, umbrage and NSFW language, but it all culminates in Wayne's brain shutting down mid-Ep and Paul genuinely fearing for his co-host for a few moments.

Find out what that triggers that moment, along with a bunch of random facts about films with presidents (mostly) in them, as The Countdown continues ...

  • The Trial of the Chicago 7 review

For this week's feature, Paul & Wayne hit the courtroom for some drama in the form of Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7. This based on a true story Netflix release initially ptompts the guys to have a ten minute debate about whether a) films exist purely to entertain and b) Sorkin scripts contain realistic dialogue, before they finally get down to business.

Does this one deliver for Netflix? Is Frank Langella the greatest venerable actor doing the rounds at the moment? And does Yahya Abdul-Mateen II make up for his abominably bad performance in Aquaman?

  • BONUS: Top 5 Horror Films of 2020 (w/ Gerald from Two Peas on a Podcast)

Good friend, great podcaster and supporter of the show, Gerald, AKA G-Banger, returns for this month's Bonus Ep. And because it's Halloween and the "spooky season", the topic is of course horror related, and that equally obviously means Wayne is nowhere to be found!

So it is that G-Banger joins Paul to countdown the Top 5 Horror Films of 2020. It's not been a great year for much of anything, let's be honest, but there are a bunch of quality indie horror flicks which have made their way to streaming services which everyone can enjoy right now.

So fire your headphones and get ready to scratch a few notes into your phone, as the guys cover a wide array of different horror films, all while reveling in not having to defend horror as a genre from Wayne!

You can check out G-Banger and all he does on his great show at Two Peas on a Podcast.

  • Worst 10 Supposed Blockbusters of the Noughties

    Countdown #291

This week the guys return to the land of snark, as they take aim at the many terrible blockbusters of the first decade of the current millennium, the Noughties.

Rest assured that no film is safe from the ire of the boys! From films that were MEANT to be big, but bombed hard through to those that were massive financial successes, but sucked royally despite these dollars earned, Wayne and Paul are here to name and shame, and have a few laughs while they're at it.

Meanwhile, what current Hollywood controversy might the show have inadvertently caused?

Find the answer to this as well as a whole lot more, as The Countdown starts down The Road to 300 ...

  • The Boys Season 2 review
This week, Wayne and Paul are reviewing all eight episodes of the second season of Amazon Prime's The Boys. Amazingly, the "C" word only gets uttered three times through this entire review, but is that a good thing? Does Wayne find the second season too harsh for his delicate sensibilities? Or is Paul too psychopathic to appreciate exploding heads might be traumatising for some people?

Regardless, only one of the guys is saying this top tier television in 2020, while the other is more cautious in their recommendation. Find out who is whom as The Countdown continues ...

  • Top 10 Films of the Undead (w/ Shawn of the Stories of Yore and Yours Podcast)

    Countdown #290

This week the guys are going all in on horror for the month of #AllTheHorror - an initiative on Twitter in which independent podcasts join together to contribute a horror-based episode every day through the month of October. Check out all the eps (and other action) at https://allthehorror18.wixsite.com/event

And to make this occasion extra special the boys have invited a brand new guest onto the show - the man with the sexiest voice in podcasting - Shawn Ennis from the Stories of Yore and Yours Podcast. Shawn classes the joint up as each of the hosts counts down their Top 10 Films of the Undead. Oh yeah!

Does Shawn really make up for Wayne's lame ass effort? Or does that ship sail with Wayne's number 9? And how badly will Paul upset all classic horror film fans with his list (because he bloody well should have known better)?

Learn the answers to all these questions and so much more as The Countdown continues ...

And please thanks Shawn by checking out his show at https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/stories-of-yore-and-yours/id1373775434

Finally thanks to Shaun Faust for the All the Horror theme featured at the top of the show.

  • Hubie Halloween review
Paul has a lot to answer for this week as he somehow talked Wayne into reviewing Adam Sandler's latest for Netflix, Hubie Halloween

Yes, 2020 strikes again, but just how bad is this pathetic excuse for a comedy? Has Sandler hit rock bottom? Or is this his revenge for not being rewarded for Uncut Gems? And who, at the end of the day, will score this lower?

  • Top 10 Films I Love That My Co-Host Hates

    Countdown #289

This week is a bit of a love-letter to the long term fans of the show as Paul and Wayne confront one another over the films they think the other has most egregiously misjudged. In other words, they're both counting down the top 10 films they love which the other guy hates.

This one has all the bad language, wailing and gnashing of teeth that you would imagine, as well as more Soundboard than you could possibly hope for ... and its all in the name of a few laughs. And who couldn't use a few of those given the state of the world at the moment?

So get on board for a bit of podcast levity, and decide just who has the worse taste in film, as The Countdown continues ...

  • Antebellum review
Neither of the boys even knew what the title of this film meant before viewing it, but Wayne was 100% not on board as he believed it was a horror film.

Well, it is and it isn't, and it's certainly proving divisive among critics and audiences alike. But will Wayne end up liking this pseudo-horror more than Paul? And what will the OG Negatron have to say about it?

Learn the answers to both of these questions and hear Paul give an impassioned plea regarding the current state of the theatre/cinema industry, as The Countdown continues ...
