The Context of White Supremacy hosts the third study session on Ernest Tidyman's 1970 novel, SHAFT. Tidyman is a White man. He forged a distinguished journalism career working for The New York Times and Ohio's The Plain Dealer. In the midst of the so called Civil Rights Movement and the unrest of the 1960's, Tidyman decided to concoct a narrative around a black private detective named John SHAFT. This relatively short book sparked a half century of trashy films and a television program, and mightily influenced the thoughts, speech, action, emotions, and wardrobe of generations of black people. Gus has yet to hear of any black people who were aware that the SHAFT franchise is the spawn of a White Man. During the second session, Tidyman introduces Knox Parsons, a black criminal who hopes to hire shaft to find his missing daughter. The film portrays the missing black female as quiet and well-behaved. Tidyman describes her as a promiscuous, street-hustler. We're also introduced to Ben Buford, a black male "revolutionary," who seems to be Tidyman's composite of the many attempted counter-racist groups of the 1960's. Buford and his group do drugs, have no weapons, and are easily slaughtered by the White thugs who kidnapped Parsons's daughter. This broadcast is intended to encourage participation from non-white people in different parts of the world and Victims of Racism who are not able to join during the normal broadcast time. UK attention shifted to the murder of Conservative MP Sir David Amess on Friday. White-controlled media outlets immediately classified his murder as an act of terrorism, so-called "Islamic extremism." Amess' killing echoed the 2016 killing of Labour Party lawmaker Jo Kox, who was killed by a White Supremacist. It's "Black History Month" in England. A UK website recognized the occasion with a posting about the work of Dr Frances Cress Welsing. Owensby said the officers treated him like a dog - canines are generally treated substantially better by White people. Across the continent, a black construction worker, Bobby Gayle, was shot repeatedly by a 31-year-old White man who was speeding through the neighborhood. When Gayle asked the White motorist, 31-year-old Michael Hayes, to slow down, he called him a nigger and began firing. In Michigan, Jon Vaughn and others continue protests over the the University of Michigan's aiding and abetting of accused sexual terrorist Dr. Robert E. Anderson, a White Man. He's suspected of molesting approximately 1,000 victims [many of them males] during his tenure at U of M. This week's final heap of black male privilege featured entertainer, Dave Chappelle he was heavily criticized for alleged "transphobic" responses. He routinely employs the word "fag," and has SHAFT pretend to set up a date for homosexual/anti-sexual activity with a "gay" White Man. While speaking with the police, Tidyman places SHAFT in a the "butt-cupping grip" of a steel chair. Similar to Romain Gary's WHITE DOG, the White male author obsessives over the black male physique. Tidyman greatly details the black body of John SHAFT, including scars received while fighting in Vietnam. Tidyman was reportedly unhappy that's SHAFT's veteran status was excised from the movie. When not being ogled by the White Men of New York, SHAFT has sexual intercourse with a White Woman. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes June BlueSpruce and Lisa Iverson. Gus was frolicking in Seattle's posh Green Lake area, when he stumbled on a flier for group discussion titled: "Whiteness Is Not An Ancestor: book study and reflection." The two session event would be led by June BlueSpruce, a White Woman. She lives in the Seattle area and penned one of the essays in the book, which features 12 separate reports from White Women. The collection was edited by Lisa Iverson, also a White Woman. We'll discuss their motivations for this project, and the results of their recent zoom project. We'll explore what it means to be White, and Ms. BlueSpruce's connections to the #MedicalApartheid industry and the Oakland Black Panther Party.
