These reports may be intended to motivate Whites to ensure the continuance of White Power. In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced he was resign before month's end. After legions demanded he step down after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, Gov. Cuomo faces impeachment with few public allies. In St. Louis, the parents and relatives of Michael Brown Jr. mark seven years since his murder by a White enforcement official. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. The Pentagon announced that members of the armed services will be required to accept Covid-19 inoculations. In a growing number of regions and business, companies are taking a firmer stance that employees must be vaccinated and/or face stringent testing. Medical professionals as well as state and federal employees are also being cajoled to accept vaccinations. A substantial number of White and non-white workers have balked at requirements; some insisting they're quit before rolling up their sleeve. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the second study session on Woody Allen's Apropos of Nothing. One of the most critically acclaimed directors of all time, Woody Allen is a New York City and entertainment icon. In addition to his flicks, he's written books, Apropos of Nothing being his most recent. Published in 2020, the text examines his life and "romance" with Soon-Yi Previn. In addition to being non-white and decades younger than Allen, Previn was Allen's stepchild. Despite a damning Child Protective Services investigation and years of allegations of child rape and sexual abuse of children, Allen remains beloved my hoards of Whites. We examine this work for what it reveals about White culture. Last week's opening session saw Allen recount his youth as a competent baseball player and his love of girls at school. Allen describes his "thug life" parents in great deal. He says his father's dishonesty was a part of his DNA. State Attorney General Letitia James, a black female, announced the findings, which were followed by President Joe Biden and many others demanding the governor’s resignation. Cuomo says he has more governing to do. Speaking of dastardly conduct, Missouri’s Derontae Martin, a 19-year-old black boy, died under suspicious circumstances, but was ruled a suicide victim. This week a court rejected the idea of Martin dying from self-inflicted injury, and turned suspicion to Martin’s “White friends” who were with him at the time of his death. In the U.S., the eviction moratorium, enacted to keep people from being tossed into the street amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, was allowed to expire this week. At the conclusion of 2020, our Bay Area Scholar informed us that he'd have three roommates for the upcoming academic year. Possibly three White roommates. We discussed the importance of having a code, taking Covid-19 seriously, and expecting his roommates to be a problem. Like many whippersnappers, he did grasp the danger of his situation. 7 months later, his housemates have ditched safety protocols, hosted strangers, and contracted an illness that may be Covid-19. We're days from the start of the new academic year, and a number of colleges and universities will welcome throngs of students back to campus. Attempted parents should have a serious conversation with the new crop of freshmen. The Covid-delayed 2020 Olympics was rocked by news that the most accomplished, celebrated athlete at the games, champion gymnast Simone Biles, excused herself from competition to address her mental health. Speaking of health, in the U.S. more states and White-dominated media outlets are mandating or requesting that all citizens be vaccinated. This comes amidst reports of increasing rates of "delta variant" infections. There seems to be a newfound rage directed at those who have not volunteered for inoculations. In Georgia, Robert Aaron Long, the White Terrorist who killed 8 people, 6 of them non-white (asian) females, plead guilty to his abominable crimes and was sentence to life in prison without the possibility of release.

This comes amid a growing clamor that "the unvaccinated" are jeopardizing the heard. Universities and schools around the country are slowly adding similar mandates for students and faculty returning this autumn, and the state of New York will require vaccinations and/or testing for all state employees. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 8th and final study session on Randall Sullivan's LAbyrinth : A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B. I. G., the Implications of Death Row Records' Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal. Sullivan is an actor, journalist, producer, screenwriter, and author who's hosted a television program on Oprah Winfrey's network and written reports for The Washington Post and Rolling Stone. And, he's a White man. LAbyrinth is his construction of White male LAPD officer Russell Poole's investigations into the murders of officer Kevin Gaines (black male) and Christopher Wallace. Last week Sullivan claimed that the LAPD labored intensely to shield black officers from charges of corruption. After Rodney King's beating and the trial of O.J. Simpson, Sullivan argues the department was sensitive to charges of "crooked cops" and hyper-protective of black officers accused of criminal activity.

She's the founder and principal of 3MPH Planning and Consulting, a firm focused on pedestrian safety. We'll discuss her 2020 publication, Right of Way: Race, Class, and the Silent Epidemic of Pedestrian Deaths in America. The book discusses the startlingly high number of pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. and the reasons why non-white male foot-travelers are disproportionately likely to be killed by a motor vehicle. Like most other elements of White Supremacy, words are crucially important to understanding the history of road development and the laws governing motorists and pedestrians.
