The Cultured Bumpkin

I bet you didn't know that Edgar A Guest wrote a poem about me once (it might be about you too!)

There's nothing quite like a quiet evening in with a good book.

Just about everyone, at least in the West, has heard of "The Ten Commandments", and most can even recite at least a couple of them.

In order to better understand western thought and culture, and certainly areas like the "Bible Belt" in the deep American South, it's important to at least be familiar with them.

At alot of laws on both sides of the Atlantic were at some point in history, based on these "commandments".

Here they are, unabridged, and read from the Authorized Version English Bible of 1611.

Today we get some great advice on watching what you say, from Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) was an English poet of the Romantic Movement who was also good friends with William Wordsworth.

My friend Brent in Texas requested this poem, and I'm pleased to be able to record it and I hope you enjoy!
