The coalition between the ANC and ICOSA at Kannaland in the Little Karoo has come under fire. This, after concerns were raised about the mayor and deputy mayor's criminal records. During Kannaland's inaugural council meeting on Tuesday last week, ICOSA President Jeffrey Donson was re-elected mayor, the former Speaker Werner Meshoa, also from ICOSA, was elected deputy mayor and the ANC's Nicolaas Valentyn as Speaker. Police minister Bheki Cele says majority of the two-thousand kidnapping cases reported to police between July and September this year, were hijacking related followed by robbery and rape-related incidents. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate, IPID says it's investigating a discharge of firearm case, after a suspect was shot and injured, allegedly by police at a lodge in Muldersdrift outside Krugersdorp over the weekend. It's understood that the victim who was allegedly armed, was causing trouble with the lodge staff when police were called to assist. Video footage on social media, shows the guest cocking his firearm and grabbing a firearm from a female officer, before allegedly being shot in the head by one of the officers. Our guest who is a former police officer says he would have also shot the suspect if he was in that situation.
