    Egypt's former President Mohammed Morsi, who was ousted by the military in 2013, has died after fainting in a courtroom. A former top figure in the now-banned Islamist movement Muslim Brotherhood, Morsi was in court for a hearing on charges of espionage. He was 67. Morsi was ousted by the army in July 2013 following mass protests a year after he took office as the country's first democratically elected leader.

    A man suspected of being part of a group of men who raped two teenage girls has been castrated and killed by a mob in Thembisa. A member of the public who saw the incident alerted the community who came out and confronted the rapists. Two of the suspects managed to escape, while the other was caught and killed by members of the community at the scene. Many community members in the past expressed frustration with police response to incidents like these and ended up taking issues into their own hands. Are they to blame for doing this? Is mob justice the only solution to crime in South Africa?

  • Sudan's former-President Omar al-Bashir makes first court appearance
    Sudan's former-President Omar al-Bashir has appeared in public for the first time since he was overthrown in a coup in April. Bashir was driven from a jail in the capital, Khartoum to the prosecutor's office where he was read the corruption charges against him. Prosecutors say a large hoard of foreign currency was found in grain sacks at Bashir's home after he was ousted, bringing to an end nearly 30 years in power. Bashir is also wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), accused of organising war crimes and crimes against humanity in Sudan's Darfur region, charges he denies.

    Minority rights lobby group AfriForum wants Zindzi Mandela dismissed as ambassador to Denmark for her 'racist' tweets. This after tweets - from an unverified Twitter account that appears to be that of Nelson and Winnie Mandela's daughter Zindzi, tweeted "Dear Apartheid Apologists, your time is over. You will not rule again. We do not fear you. Finally #TheLandIsOurs". The lobby group's Deputy CEO Alana Bailley says Zindzi has 'demonstrated a hateful attitude towards white people in the country'.
