Recently, the IFP penned an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa. In the letter, IFP National Spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa says to our Head of State “Utterances attributed to you that in Davos you spoke of “nine wasted years” under Mr Zuma have taken me aback with a sense of shock as they are said with a very opportunistic view to distance yourself from the grave realities of those years particularly for the poor majority…., He continued to say to the President “You served in the Zuma ANC NEC. #FeesMustFall was a student-led protest movement that began in mid-October 2015 in South Africa. The goals of the movement were to stop increases in student fees as well as to increase government funding of universities. That goal was achieved, but still there are issues playing themselves out in SA universities, that ‘compell’ students to protest. The latest, are the Protests at universities across KwaZulu-Natal. This after violence erupted on campuses belonging to the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Monday. Students are demanding free and quality education for all, and for students to be allowed to register without having to settle outstanding 2018 fees. At Wits University some students were demonstrating over historic debt and the shortage of accommodation.
