Standard Bank's head of compliance, Ian Sinton says one of the bank's chief executives was summoned to Luthuli House to explain its decision to terminate Gupta-linked bank accounts. Sinton says the meeting was attended by former ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe, his deputy Jessie Duarte, and the party's economic transformation sub-committee head Enoch Godongwana. Sinton says he and Standard Bank management were accused of taking instructions from handlers in Stellenbosch to close the Gupta accounts.
