South African law professor Steve Cornelius resigned from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) following the announcement of new testosterone regulations. Cornelius, who was appointed to the body’s disciplinary tribunal four months ago, said he cannot associate with an entity that “insists on ostracising certain individuals”. He joins us now to share with us, why he felts compelled to resign? Self-appointed Ndebele king, Stanley Raphael Khumalo says he wants to revive the Ndebele kingdom. Raphael Khumalo has made headlines after declaring declared himself as King Mzilikazi II and unveiled a new Mthwakazi flag last year, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Khumalo's actions to declare himself the Ndebele King has divided opinion in Matabeleland, with secessionists supporting him while the Khumalo clan say he is an imposter. Parliament's presiding officers says it will lobby other African countries against the I-double-A-F's stringent regulations that could prevent Olympic 800-metres champion, Caster Semenya from competing. The world athletics governing body has announced regulations for female athletes with differences of sex development. They restrict the blood testosterone levels for female athletes who run distances between 400 and one-thousand-500 metres, which are all Semenya's specialities. Meanwhile SASCOC president, Gideon Sam says the fact that the I-double-A-F always makes important announcements that have an effect on Semenya, ahead of big athletic events is suspicious....

Yesterday alongside the 62nd session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, the 2017 -2018 Report "There Are Alternatives: Africa" was launched. It’s a report commissioned by the International Detention Coalition (IDC). It shows that alternatives to detention are already being used in 32 African Countries to great effect, with a lot of potential to be up-scaled for more cost savings. We find out which African countries are these, and how are they doing it?
