  • What the Water Of Cancer Season Is Asking You Right Now

Throwback week continues. This one is a Cancer Season welcome drop, and the timing couldn’t be better: we’re right in the middle of it. Cancer season runs June 21 to July 22, 2026, with the Cancer New Moon landing on July 14. Everything in here is live.

If you’ve been feeling things more intensely lately, more emotional, more inward, more pulled toward home and roots and the people who matter. That’s not a glitch. That’s the season doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Let me break down what I mean by “season” first, because I know not everyone is tracking the astrological year in the same way.

What we mean when we say Cancer season

When you hear “it’s Cancer season,” we’re talking about the astrological season, the period when the Sun is moving through Cancer. Right now that’s June 21 through July 22. Every sign gets its season, and within that month the collective energy takes on the qualities of that sign.

I like to think of the astrological year not as a flat circle but as a spiral upwards. Each season builds on the last. You don’t need to have been tracking from the beginning to benefit from where we are now. You can jump in at any point and start working with the current energy.

What’s useful to know is that every season has a New Moon in its own sign and a Full Moon in the opposite sign. We just had the Full Moon in Capricorn (Cancer’s opposite) on June 29. The Cancer New Moon lands on July 14. So we’re in that in-between space right now: the Full Moon’s release energy still present, the New Moon’s fresh intentions building.

    Cancer energy in plain terms

Cancer is a water sign. It’s emotional, intuitive, deeply feeling, and very much about home, roots, safety, and belonging. The flow aspect is real and it’s strong.

But here’s where I want to invite some nuance, because water energy has a shadow side too.

If you’re in the shadow of Cancer energy, you might be too controlling (trying to manage the flow rather than move with it), or too uncontained (spiralling, overthinking, doing fourteen things at once, completely at the mercy of every wave of feeling). Neither extreme is where you want to be.

The image I keep coming back to for this is a river.

A river has a natural path, a natural flow. It moves. It has direction. But it also has banks, those grounded, structural edges that keep the water moving forward rather than flooding everywhere. The banks aren’t the enemy of the flow. They’re what make the flow useful.

So the question for Cancer season isn’t just “am I in flow?” It’s: do I have banks?

Where are you in relation to the water?

Here’s what I want you to sit with this season.

Where in your life are you in flow, genuinely moving with ease, following the path? And where are you resisting it, gripping the sides, insisting things go a specific way?

Now flip it. Where are you completely uncontained, too many tabs open, spiralling between options, so in the flow that you’ve actually lost direction?

For me personally, that second one is very real. I can sit down to do one task and come up for air five hours later having done approximately 180 other things in the meantime. Very Cancer season. Not always helpful.

The work isn’t to eliminate the flow. It’s to notice where the banks need reinforcing, and where you’ve been so tightly controlled that you’ve actually stopped the water moving at all.

    Inside your business specifically

This is worth thinking about through a business lens too.

Where are you resisting creativity, resisting the more intuitive ways of working, resisting the natural current of what’s actually trying to happen? That resistance often looks like over-structuring, needing a perfect plan before you’ll move, or waiting for conditions that never quite feel right.

And where are you overflowing in your business, too many ideas, no traction, brilliance without direction?

Cancer season is genuinely one of the most useful seasons for this kind of honest audit. The emotional clarity it brings isn’t sentimentality. It’s signal. It’s information about what’s actually alive in you and what isn’t.

We’ve got until July 22 to work with this. The Cancer New Moon on July 14 is a particularly potent moment for setting intentions around home, emotional foundations, and what you want to nurture into growth.

    Use it.

Where do you need more flow right now, and where do you need a stronger bank?

  • The Capricorn Full Moon and the Art of Releasing Your Own Pressure

Another throwback this week, and this one timed itself perfectly without any help from me. This audio is from a previous Capricorn Full Moon, but we just had one yesterday (June 29, 2026) and everything in here is live and relevant right now. Sometimes the archive knows what it’s doing.

The full moon energy is in the air. You can feel it, right?

There’s a particular quality to the days around a full moon where things start to shift, even before it peaks. It’s subtle at first, then suddenly it isn’t. Emotions that have been sitting just below the surface decide now is the time. Clarity arrives where there was fuzziness. Something you’ve been carrying feels heavier than it did last week.

With every new and full moon, the simplest entry point is always this: what do I want to draw in, and what am I ready to release?

That’s all we’re doing here when we’re working with lunar energy. Fixing the frequency. Pointing the intention.

Full moons are specifically about the release side.

What are you releasing with this one?

  • The Retrograde Reframe Nobody Tells You

A quick note before we get into it: this week is a throwback week at Authority After Dark. I’m in a season shift, honouring lower energy, and pulling from the audio archives, because sometimes the right message is the one you already recorded, not the one you force out of a half-empty tank. This one is particularly well-timed. We just stepped into Mercury Retrograde (June 29 to July 23, 2026, in Cancer) and everything in this audio still stands. Enjoy.

Okay, so Mercury Retrograde starts today.

And if you’ve already clocked an uptick in the doom-posting on social media (”batten down the hatches,” “don’t sign anything,” “your ex is definitely coming back”) I want to offer you a different lens before we spend the next few weeks in a low-grade panic.

Mercury Retrograde gets a bad rep. It always has.

But here’s the thing: a lot of what gets blamed on the retrograde is just... life being life. And a lot of what the retrograde is actually asking us to do is something most of us resist anyway.

So what is it actually doing?

First, the basics. All planets go retrograde occasionally. What that means visually is that from where we’re standing on Earth, the planet appears to slow down and move backwards in the sky. It’s not actually reversing direction. It’s an optical effect based on where we are in relation to where Mercury is in its orbit.

But the energetic pull? That does shift.

And Mercury, specifically, rules communication. It rules travel. It rules tech, information, how we’re moving our words through the world. So when Mercury slows down, all of those things slow down too.

That’s the key word here: slow down.

Not break. Not explode. Slow. Down.

What this one is asking in particular

This retrograde is in Cancer, and that matters.

Cancer energy is home, roots, emotional memory, the things we carry from our past. So this isn’t just “double-check your emails before you send them” energy (though, honestly, yes, do that). This is a retrograde that’s pulling us back into reflection at a deeper level.

Where have you been rushing that the rushing isn’t actually serving you?

What old conversations, old ideas, old ways of seeing yourself are ready to be looked at again, not to repeat them, but to understand what they were actually showing you?

Cancer also sits in the emotional body. So if things feel a bit tender over the next few weeks, if old things surface, if you find yourself with a lump in your throat over something you thought you’d dealt with — that’s not the retrograde breaking you. That’s it doing its job.

The tech stuff (yes, it’s real)

I’m going to keep it real with you. Tech issues during retrograde are genuinely a thing in my world.

Links that you’ve triple-checked suddenly don’t work. Videos that upload fine and then just... don’t save. Your brain going completely blank mid-sentence when you’re recording something, the word you’ve used a thousand times just disappearing. That one’s a particular favourite of mine.

The move isn’t to push harder. It’s to breathe, giggle a bit, and just go again.

We’re not getting frustrated. We’re going with the flow. Right?

If you were born during a retrograde

A quick note for those of you who already know this about yourselves: if you were born during a Mercury Retrograde, you actually handle this energy very differently to someone who wasn’t. Retrogrades tend to feel more natural to you — like things are finally moving at your pace instead of the usual breakneck speed.

If that’s you, this is actually one of your power seasons. Worth knowing.

The reframe that matters for your business

If you’ve been really visible lately, putting a lot of energy outwards, burning through your outputs, this retrograde is quite specifically asking you to turn the camera around.

Not to go quiet forever. Just to ask: Is this how I want to be seen? Am I being seen for the right things?

For me, that question comes up a lot. I have so many strings to my bow that if you asked ten different past clients what I do, you’d probably get ten different answers. And while that’s something I love about this work, it also means periods like this, the reflective ones, are genuinely useful.

What’s the one thing you’d most want to be known for? Does your current visibility reflect that?

If the answer is no, or even a hesitant “sort of,” that’s not a problem to fix right now. It’s information to sit with.

    Nothing about this is permanent

Mercury Retrograde is a few weeks. That’s it.

It’s not a life sentence. It’s not a curse. It’s not even a catastrophe waiting to happen, if you’re willing to work with it rather than white-knuckling through it.

The social media version will have you thinking it’s scary. It’s really not. It’s a pause. A built-in slow-down that most of us could probably use more of, and definitely resist because we’re wired to equate speed with progress.

This one, in Cancer, has a gentleness to it that I think is worth leaning into.

Slow down. Check the links. Let the words come back. See what surfaces when you stop trying to outrun it.

What’s coming up for you as we move into this one?

  • The permission you didn't know you needed this Cancer season

Cancer season arrived, and with it came a particular kind of friction.

If you’re someone who keeps one eye on your goals at all times, who’d quietly admit that wanting more is just... your baseline state, this energy can feel like being asked to slow down when you haven’t earned it yet.

But that’s not quite what’s being asked. And the distinction matters.

    The friction is the lesson

Cancer season is fundamentally about nurture. Home. Family dynamics. The quality of comfort in your daily life.

For those of us who live north of the UK or are in the thick of the school-year sprint stateside, there’s this background hum right now of “what does summer look like?” When will the routine break? What does that mean for the work?

And even if you don’t have family in the traditional sense, even if it’s just you and your dog and your home office and the podcast going in the background, you can feel it. There’s a pull toward spaciousness. Toward nourishment. Toward actually feeling good rather than just performing productivity.

That’s not laziness. That’s the season doing its job.

Here’s where it gets a bit uncomfortable

Cancer energy also brings more emotion to the surface. Not just yours. The people around you get more vulnerable. More reactive. More needy, sometimes.

Which means if you’re someone who holds a lot, an empathic business owner who reads the room instinctively and recalibrates accordingly, Cancer season can be quietly exhausting in a way that doesn’t look like anything from the outside.

You’re not burned out. You’re just carrying more than usual.

What’s worth watching, though, is the shadow side of all this beautiful nourishing energy. Because comfort can become an excuse. And Cancer season is very good at providing that excuse if you let it.

Not in a “push through and hustle harder” way. That’s not the point at all. But there’s a difference between genuinely resting, genuinely receiving, genuinely giving yourself the space you need, and using the season’s invitation as a reason to avoid the thing you’ve been avoiding anyway.

    You know the difference, right?

    What today’s invitation actually is

It’s a Venus day as I’m recording this. Friday. And the invite isn’t to hustle differently or to fix the discomfort.

It’s to sit with the beauty of what nurture actually looks like in your life.

Look around your space. Your home office. The corner of your house that’s yours. The mug you always reach for. The candle on the windowsill. The view, even if it’s just a garden fence.

How much of what surrounds you is something to be genuinely grateful for?

Because that gratitude isn’t a productivity hack. It’s not a mindset technique. It’s an energy, and it feeds you differently than ambition does.

    Both matter. Both belong here.

Cancer season doesn’t ask you to stop wanting more

It asks you to want it from a place that’s fed rather than a place that’s running on empty.

There’s a version of business that grows from genuine nourishment. From being well-rested inside your own life. From actually enjoying the space you’ve created, not just tolerating it as the background to your to-do list.

That’s what Venus energy is offering right now, more beauty, more joy, more of the nourishment that doesn’t come through a course or a strategy or a push. It comes through presence.

Bring that into the coming weeks as we move through this season.

And if you catch yourself using the softer energy as an excuse? Notice it. Kindly. That noticing is enough.

What does nurture look like in your life right now, and are you actually letting yourself have it?

  • The Questions You Keep Skipping Are the Ones That Will Change Everything

I filled in an onboarding form this week.

New business coach, new chapter, and she asked all the usual stuff, what’s working, what’s not, what happened last month. Standard intake questions. You’ve probably filled in something similar yourself.

But here’s the thing. Most of us rush through those forms because we want to get to the coaching. The form feels like admin. Tick the boxes, get to the good stuff.

I didn’t do that this time.

I slowed down and actually answered them. And then I went one step further I hooked up my Stripe data and ran it through Claude. Two years, three years back. What’s actually selling. Where the money’s coming from. Who’s coming back. The numbers that don’t lie even when your feelings are doing something completely different.

And what came up reminded me of something I’ve been saying for years, but apparently needed to feel again: the questions that look too basic are usually the ones you most need to answer.

Nobody Wants to Do the Debrief

    I get it. Truly.

You don’t want to look at the data because you’re scared of what’s there. Or you’re scared it won’t match the story you’ve been telling yourself. Or you honestly don’t know what you’re looking at, so you avoid it entirely.

But that information? It’s not an indictment. It’s communication.

Your business is literally talking to you through those numbers and you’re not picking up. You’re in the next room, planning your next launch, writing your next email, thinking about where the next sale is coming from and your business is over there going “hello, I have something to tell you.”

The debrief doesn’t have to be painful. It can be genuinely revelatory.

When I ran my own numbers, I kept seeing the same things show up. Offers I thought were heavy work that were actually bringing people back time and again. Things I’d half-written off because they felt like a lot, but when I looked at the actual pattern, I could see that running them twice a year, structured differently, would make them lighter without shrinking the return.

You can’t make those decisions without the data. You’re just guessing at your own business.

    The Questions Worth Sitting With

Most of us skip these because they feel too simple. You think the answer to your business is somewhere complicated, a new funnel, a better niche statement, a different platform. But it usually isn’t. It usually starts here.

    What’s actually working right now?

Not what should be working. Not what worked six months ago and you’ve been hoping will come back. What is bringing in money, attention, or alignment right now?

What’s working financially but costing you too much energetically?

This one matters. There are things in your business that look great on paper and are slowly draining you. That’s not a reason to kill them immediately, it’s a reason to look at whether the structure can change. Can you run it differently? Price it differently? Deliver it in a way that doesn’t take as much from you?

Where are people coming in, and where do they go next?

Did they find you on a freebie? Did they skip your entry-level offer entirely? Did they go all the way through your offer suite? Most business owners have no idea about this. When you map it, you can start to replicate the journey instead of accidentally creating it over and over without realising you had a pattern.

What has worked in the last six to twelve months that you haven’t fully acknowledged?

Not just financially. What moments, conversations, shifts, results, what happened that you moved past too fast?

These aren’t trick questions. They’re the foundation. And most of us never give them the time they deserve because we’re always moving on to the next thing.

Systematize It, or Keep Starting From Scratch

Here’s the bit that usually gets lost in a quarterly review: looking at what worked isn’t just about feeling good. It’s about figuring out what you can stop reinventing.

You don’t need a different sales page every time. You don’t need to rebuild the onboarding from scratch for every program. You don’t need to rewrite the welcome sequence, redesign the emails, recreate the slides.

If you did it once and it worked, that’s a system. The question is whether you’re treating it like one.

Look at the last four or five clients or customers. Walk through what happened. Where were the conversations? What did you send them? What did you say? When you write it down, the repeating patterns will be obvious. And once you see them, you can capture them — a simple email, a voice note, a short video — so you’re not pulling it from scratch every single time.

That’s what systematizing actually means. Not a complex tech stack. Just noticing what you’re already doing well and deciding to do it on purpose.

Your Energy Is Part of the Review

The operational layer isn’t the whole picture. You have to look at how you’re working, not just what you’re working on.

Do you notice that you’re sharper at the beginning of the week? That you need a walk before 10am before anything else lands? That you produce better when you batch rather than scatter? That there’s a particular day of the week where decisions feel clearer?

That’s information too. And it goes into the system.

When you structure your work around how you actually function rather than how you think you’re supposed to function, everything changes. You stop fighting yourself. You stop wondering why some weeks feel like moving through concrete and other weeks feel easy.

Your routine is a system. Your rituals are a system. They’re just not ones you’ve written down yet.

    Actually Do This

I’ve put together a workbook and a companion video that walks you through the questions I use when reviewing a quarter, the ones I’ve been using with people inside my one-to-one work for a long time.

It’s structured around the layers: what’s working in the business itself, what’s working energetically, what can be systematized, where your attention should go next.

[Watch the video and grab the workbook HERE: Q3 - Planning Through Operational Layers]

You’ve got time to do this before the quarter ends. Not a lot of time, but enough. And you really don’t want to hit the end of the year looking back at a quarter you moved through without ever properly digesting.

Look at where you’ve been. It’s the only way to actually decide where you’re going.

  • The Old Ways Aren't Dead. They're Just Underused...And That's a Goldmine!

This topics come up 3 times in less than a week, with 2 being calls in the last 12 hours…so it’s clear I need to talk about this.

The first client is brilliant at conversation. One-to-one, she lights up. She gets in front of people and something opens. The second was asking whether her resistance to social media is a block she needs to work through, or whether it’s actually information. Whether the feeling is fear, or just... not the right fit.

And I gave her the same thing I’ve said to a few clients recently.

If you had all the money. If you had the eyes, the audience, people already in your world. Would you still show up on social media?

    Sometimes the answer is no.

And that “no” is worth sitting with, because there’s a difference between resistance that’s asking you to grow and resistance that’s telling you you’re trying to force something that was never really yours.

The industry moved and called it progress

Here’s what happened: the online space shifted, social media became the dominant model, and somewhere along the way we started treating it like the only model.

Now everyone teaching business is teaching social media strategy. Everyone talking about visibility is talking about reels and content calendars and showing up consistently online. And if you’re not doing it that way, the implication is you’re doing it wrong.

You’re not doing it wrong. You might just be doing it differently.

Because business worked before Instagram. It worked before Facebook. It worked before the internet made everything feel like it needed to be broadcast. The old ways, the ones that feel almost embarrassingly simple compared to funnel strategy and content batching, still work. They’re just underused right now because everyone’s looking left.

What I actually found when I looked at my numbers

I went through my business. Looked at who’d paid me the most over the last two years and tracked where they came from.

It wasn’t ads. It was recommendations. In-person connections. Bundles and summits where someone else’s audience got to see me, which is referral energy even if it doesn’t look like it. People who knew someone, who asked around, who got a direct recommendation from a person they trusted.

Your network is still your net worth. I know that sounds like something your uncle says at Christmas. I’m saying it anyway because it’s still true.

The person you met in that mastermind six months ago who you’ve never properly followed up with. The contact you have who moves in circles you’d actually love to be in. The friend who might know someone. These aren’t lesser leads. They’re often your best ones, because they arrive with context and trust already in place.

The question that actually cuts through

When I asked my client whether she’d still be on social media if she already had the money and the audience, the reason that question works is this: it removes the hope.

A lot of us are on social media because we’re hoping it will be the thing that unlocks the breakthrough. The viral moment. The algorithm finally working in our favour. And when you take the hope out of the equation, you get to find out if you actually enjoy it or if you’ve been white-knuckling it for two years waiting for a result that hasn’t come.

Sometimes the answer that comes back is: yes, I do enjoy it when I’m not panicking about it. I actually want to be there.

And sometimes the answer is: no. Genuinely no. And then you have to ask yourself why you’re putting so much energy into a channel that you don’t like, that your clients haven’t actually come from, when there are whole other rooms you haven’t tried working yet.

What old school actually looks like

Networking. Not the cringe kind. The genuine kind. Getting into other people’s communities, borrowing audiences, showing up to the places where your people already are.

Reaching out to someone you already know. Not a pitch, just a check-in. “What are you doing right now? Is there something we could create together?” Those conversations still lead places.

Looking for parallel industries. People who serve the same person you serve, in a different way. Not competition. Potential referral partners who’ve never been asked.

It doesn’t have the same hit as going viral. That dopamine spike, the follower count jumping, the feeling that something’s working at scale. But the slow, consistent building of real connections? That converts. Quietly, reliably, in a way that doesn’t burn you out in the process.

You still have to do the work when they arrive

I want to be clear about one thing. None of this means you can coast on charm and referrals with no infrastructure underneath you.

Once someone enters your world, you need magnetism. Authority. Something that makes them want to stay and buy. The messaging, the offer, the container they come into — it has to be there.

But you don’t have to be screaming into the void on social media every single day to fill that container. Not if there are other ways available to you and you’re not using them because they feel old-fashioned.

    Old-fashioned is underrated right now.

So where is it? What’s the thing that feels too simple, too analogue, too “isn’t that how people did it ten years ago” that you’ve been dismissing? Because that might be exactly where your next client is coming from.

  • The Standard You Set Isn't Something You Announce

I did a reading this week that stopped me mid-pull.

Six cards. All major arcana. Then another five. Then another single. In two different decks. The kind of spread where the cards are basically leaning across the table and gripping you by the collar.

And the message underneath all of it, cutting clean through the relationship dynamic I was reading on, was this: you are in control of your energy and your frequency. That’s it. Everything else? Not your business.

    Not one little bit.

Here’s the analogy I kept coming back to

You don’t put a keep-out sign on your front gate.

You don’t stand at your front door making people sign an agreement about how they’re going to interact with your home before you let them walk up the path. No neon sign. No flashing light. No verbal announcement that this is your space and they’d better respect it.

You just know it’s yours. And somehow the general population gets that memo.

That’s what energetic standards actually look like. Not a declaration. Not a boundary statement you rehearsed in the mirror. Not a post about your values, or your worth, or what you will and won’t tolerate.

You just operate from the knowing.

And the moment you stop needing to justify it, explain it, perform it? Everything that was holding a problematic frequency around you starts to lose its grip. It can’t match you anymore. So it either rises to meet you, or it falls away.

Both of those are the right outcome.

The place we’re getting it backwards

Right now a lot of us are spending enormous energy trying to manage other people’s feelings, other people’s reactions, other people’s processes. Trying to be liked, to be picked, to be understood.

And in the middle of all that management, we’ve stopped nourishing ourselves.

We’re not picking ourselves. We’re not sitting in our own standard and going: this is what I’m about, this is the frequency I live in, I’m not going to lower this for comfort or convenience.

And you cannot be magnetic to the clients who are meant for you while you’re busy trying to keep other people’s energy comfortable.

Because magnetism? It’s not about shouting your worth from the rooftops. It’s not about a price justification or an ROI breakdown or posting about your credentials.

It’s about going: I live this. I live the thing I’m selling. I embody the return on investment before anyone’s handed me a penny. And if you want to witness that, the sales page will tell you what that’s worth.

That’s the energy that converts. Not the grip. Not the need. The embodiment.

    The 1% selfishness permission slip

So here’s the actual invitation for today.

Be a little more selfish. Not in a dramatic way. Just in the way that means: your energy comes first.

Call it back. Nourish it. Stop giving it to situations that are asking you to shrink or dilute or explain yourself.

Because when you raise your standard and sit in it quietly, without announcement, you’re not taking anything away from the people around you. You’re actually doing them a service. You’re giving them the opportunity to rise up and meet you. You’re creating a frequency they can ascend into.

Lowering yourself doesn’t help anyone rise. It just makes the ceiling lower for everyone.

    So don’t lower it.

Raise it. Sit in it. Don’t even discuss it.

What’s one area of your life or your business where you’ve been explaining your standard instead of just living it?

  • Why Some People Are Addicted to Your Failure

    The comment that said everything

I got a comment on one of my Instagram videos this week. It was a man, somewhere in the UK, who had found a video of a 40-year-old woman talking about manifestation and decided to spend his time typing: oh for God’s sake shut up, I can’t wait until England get knocked out again.

Now. Why are we talking about this in a business context?

Because that man is the most honest version of something I see in my clients every single day. He just had the audacity to say it out loud.

    Here’s the context

The video was about England’s World Cup win against Croatia. I’ve watched football my entire life, been to hundreds of games, including England games. And after that match, I filmed what I was witnessing in real time: the crowd, the emotion, the exact physical experience of collective belief landing in the body.

It was for you. For my ideal client. Because I’m always saying bring it into the body, bring it into the emotion and this was the live demonstration.

It did not reach my ideal client. It reached a section of the internet that is deeply, devotionally committed to England failing.

And if you live here, you know what I’m talking about. We invented football. We have a song called It’s Coming Home. We’ve won it once, in 1966, and a significant chunk of the population has built their entire personality around expecting us to lose, usually on penalties, always eventually, no matter what.

That comment? That person isn’t even rooting for England to lose because they don’t care. They’re rooting for England to lose because it validates them. They need the loss to prove themselves right. And they were threatened enough by a video about winning that they felt compelled to show up in my comments and demand I stop.

That’s not apathy. That’s investment. Painful, contracted, ego-in-shadow investment.

    What they’re actually mirroring

Misery loves company because misery needs witnesses.

When someone is anchored in pessimism, other people’s wins become a problem. Your visibility becomes a problem. Your belief becomes irritating. Not because they hate you specifically, but because you’re a walking reminder that it’s possible to think differently, and they’ve decided it isn’t.

I’m not projecting a whole life onto this person. Maybe they’re thriving in other areas. I genuinely don’t know. But here’s what I do know: someone who is actually succeeding, who is actually generating momentum in their own life, very rarely has the bandwidth or the impulse to rock up in a stranger’s comments to demand they stop being positive.

    Right?

And this is where it lands for you. Because most of you reading this are not this person. You’re not leaving those comments. You’re not openly rooting for people to fail. But I’d bet good money you are doing a quieter version of this to yourself.

The version you’re doing to yourself

You’re following people in your industry who are doing what you want to do, and letting their success make you feel behind.

You’re scanning for evidence that your last launch was a one-off. That the good month was a fluke. That the thing that didn’t work that one time is what’s actually real.

You’re walking into every new attempt carrying the full weight of the previous World Cup, and the one before that, and the one before that.

Every time you say but I still don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing you are choosing the past timeline. You are tapping into the one lane of restricted possibility instead of the infinite lanes of what hasn’t happened yet.

Here’s what I want you to sit with: what if you’re not supposed to know? What if the knowing is not the point? What if the point is to keep moving, keep testing, keep taking steps, without needing the outcome to match the past for it to count as real?

When you stop trying new things because you’re protecting yourself from another disappointment, you’ve effectively become the bloke in the comments. You’re just doing it internally, to yourself, quietly enough that it doesn’t look like pessimism. It looks like caution. It looks like realism. It looks like I’m just being practical.

Pessimism with good manners is still pessimism.

    Possibility is a different timeline

When you tap into possibility you’re accessing infinite versions of what could happen. When you tap into doubt, restriction, what happened before? You get one timeline. And it’s the past one.

You want to be moving toward the future timeline. Not pretending the past didn’t happen, not faking positivity and hoping the universe rewards your performance. Actually choosing, consciously, deliberately, to orient toward what hasn’t happened yet instead of toward what has.

That’s a choice. It’s available to you right now. And it is the single thing that separates the people who eventually break the cycle from the people who carry it into every launch, every World Cup, every oh here we go again.

The dude in my comments has decided the outcome in advance. He’s made his peace with England losing and built a comfortable identity around it. Every time they win he’s slightly destabilised. Every time they lose he’s safe again.

You don’t have to do that. You’re not required to be safe in that way.

What would it feel like to actually believe this one might be different?

  • The Alchemy Nobody Talks About

I pulled the Eight of Cups this morning and it was a double down from the universe as this energy was in a business reading just last night! It took me straight back to a blog I wrote during COVID, one I can’t even access anymore. But I remember the image clearly because of the deck I was using: one of the cups was on fire.

She’d put the things inside the cups and set them alight so they were done.

That’s the part nobody talks about when we discuss moving on.

You’re not just walking away. You’re burning.

The Eight of Cups gets sold as the card of moving forward. Walking into a new path, new growth, new development. And yes, that’s in there.

But the version of this card that stays with me is the fire one. Because the act of burning something isn’t just symbolic. It’s alchemy.

Think about what actually happens when something burns. You take something tangible, physical, of earth energy, right? Paper. A contract. A business model you’ve been carrying for two years because it logically makes sense even though it’s slowly draining you. That’s earth energy. Dense, material, classified.

    You put fire to it.

And that earth thing becomes smoke, becomes what looks like nothingness, but it’s changed. It’s transmuted. It doesn’t disappear. It shifts form.

    That’s an initiation.

    The thing that’s leaking you

Here’s what I know from working with clients one-to-one: when you know something needs to end but you haven’t ended it, you are leaking energy.

Not a little bit. A lot.

It’s in the back of your mind. It’s taking up space in your aura, in your field, in the part of your brain that’s supposed to be generating ideas and clarity. You’re carrying it around and pretending it’s not heavy because it still makes money, or it used to feel good, or it logically makes sense that you should keep serving that person or catering to that client.

The logic keeps you holding on past the point the energy has already moved.

And the moment you burn it? There’s a freeing that happens. Not immediately polished or sorted. Just freed.

    What needs burning right now

We’re coming up to the summer solstice this weekend. The energy of moving to the other side is incredibly prominent right now. And the question that keeps surfacing is: what are you still carrying that needs to go into the cup?

It doesn’t have to be a whole business model. It could be:

    * An idea you’ve been holding that genuinely isn’t yours

    * A boundary that keeps getting crossed because you haven’t scorched the earth on it yet

    * A conversation you’ve been soft-shoeing around for months

    * The way you’ve been allowing people to treat you that you’ve quietly decided is fine

When you burn that s**t, you don’t burn the forest. You burn it from within the cup. Safely contained. Intentional. And the smoke that comes off it is the evidence of the alchemy.

The Eight of Cups isn’t just about what you’re leaving behind.

It’s about what you’re willing to actually let be done with.

So where do you need to Eight of Cups the hell out of something in your life right now, and what would it actually free up in you if you did?

  • Make Your Niche Less Niche (And Still Be Niche)

Someone in a Facebook group for virtual assistants posted the other day asking if anyone could see a pattern in her skills that she was missing. She listed what she could do. Data entry, meeting management, general admin. The usual PA stuff.

And she was worried because she didn’t know what her niche was.

Here’s what I told her: you already have one.
