Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives.
Here are the promises we covered this week.
Matthew 2:1-2 - Seeking Jesus.
Isaiah 9:6 – Wonderful Counselor.
Matthew 1:23 – Born of a Virgin.
Isaiah 7:14 – Call Him Immanuel.
John 3:16 – God's Greatest Christmas Promise.
Promise Verse: John 3:16
The greatest promise of all is the promise of God's love. His love sent Jesus to be born of a manger, die for our sins, and bridge the gap between God and us. This is the promise of Christmas.
His love for you is more than you could ever comprehend. He loves you and will never stop loving you. Your past doesn't matter because God loves you today.
Today's Promise: Isaiah 7:14
The prophet Isaiah prophesied the birth of Jesus seven hundred years before Christ was born. Isaiah
When the angel appeared to Joseph in Matthew 1, he quoted this prophecy and then added a definition of the word Immanuel: God with us.
The promise of Christmas was that God moved from the temple to God walking among us. Because of the manger, God dwelt with His people.
God is with you today. You are never alone and need never fear. He is only a prayer away.
Today's Promise: Matthew 1:23
At the heart of Christianity is the virgin birth. Here are four reasons why the virgin birth is important.
1. It shows the uniqueness of Jesus. Jesus had an early mother, but His father was God.
2. It showed His sinless perfection. He didn't carry the sinful nature of Adam.
3. It broke the chain of sin. Just as sin came into the world through Adam, Jesus brought righteousness.
4. Jesus is the perfect example of God. If you want to know what God is like, just look at Jesus.
Today's Promise: Isaiah 9:6
As Isaiah describes the coming Messiah, he calls Him the Wonderful Counselor. There are two important aspects of this title.
First, he describes the incredible power of this ruler of all ages. He will be the supernatural king who will reign and rule for all eternity. This mighty and powerful king will also be One who is full of wisdom and compassion.
Second, Jesus would be the great counselor. If you need direction today, call on the Wonderful Counselor. The Wonderful Counselor invites you to come and receive from Him all you need.
Today's Promise: Matthew 2:1-2
After the birth of Jesus, wise men show up, asking where the King of the Jews was born.
Although Jesus came to the Jews, some of the first people who came to worship Him were not Jews but Gentiles. What a wonderful example of how Jesus was the Savior for all people.
Jesus invites you and me to seek Him with all our hearts. He promises that when we seek Him, we will find Him. (Matthew 6:33,7:7)
The wise men sought out Jesus. The wise men and women of today still seek with all they are.
Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives.
Here are the promises we covered this week.
Matthew 10:42 – Give and it Will be Given to You.
Psalm 31:19 – Goodness is Stored Up for You
Isaiah 9:6 – God's Plan for Christmas.
John 1:14 – God Lived Among Us.
Luke 1:38 – May Your Word be Fulfilled in Me.
Today's Promise: Luke 1:38
When God chose to fulfill his promise of salvation to the world, He didn't choose a famous person or even a wealthy person to accomplish it. God chose a young woman from a no-name family living in a tiny little community.
God chooses the weak and the powerless to astound the world. You don't have to be powerful or wise, rich, or famous for God to use you.
Mary's answer to the angels is a perfect example of what our attitude should be. "God, I am your servant. Be it to me according to Your word."
Today's Promise: John 1:14
John gives two important facts about Jesus.
First, He was the God who became flesh. The creator God stepped into His creation. He took on our form, walked among us, and experienced our world.
Second, Jesus was all God and all man. Jesus is completely unique. He was all of God and all of man wrapped up in one body. Jesus is the great God-man.
Since Jesus walked on this earth, He understands your weaknesses and struggles. You don't have to "try" and reach up to God; He has come down to you.
Today's Promise: Isaiah 9:6
From the moment Adam and Eve brought sin into the world, God had a plan. He promised, right in the garden, that one would come who would crush the head of Satan and restore what sin had destroyed.
The prophet Isaiah echoed what God said in the garden with new details of who this person would be.
The promise of Christmas is that the baby in a manger would bring new freedom and restoration from the devastating power of sin. That same Jesus will bring freedom and restoration to your life today.
