Your first thought may be, "Hey, what do I have to be thankful for?" No matter what your situation, you can be thankful.
It is so easy to focus on what we don't have and forget all the wonderful blessings we have.
Because God is good, and because His commitment love for you is forever, you can be thankful.
Here's a simple recipe for developing the habit of thankfulness. As you follow this plan, the spirit of thankfulness will grow and overflow in your heart. Here are five specific times you can be thankful.
Today's Promise: Psalm 71:14
This promise opens with a declaration. "But as for me." The Psalmist says it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing; my commitment is to hope in the Lord.
What does it mean to "hope in the Lord?" To hope in the Lord is to place your complete faith and trust in God. Hope is a patient expectancy that God will fulfill His promise.
The confession of your hope in the Lord is praise. As you place your hope and trust in the Lord, the natural outcome is praise.
Today's Promise: Hebrews 4:12
For Christians, the Bible is a love letter written by their Heavenly Father.
The Bible is a living book. Like no other book, the Bible speaks to the heart of its reader.
When you seem to be going through a dry spell in your Christian life, get into the word and allow it to energize your spirit.
The Bible also can bring healing and comfort in the darkest of times. Through God's Word, you can find healing for the hurts and wounds of life.
Today's Promise: Proverbs 12:2
I want to experience everything God has for me. I don't want to get to heaven and find I have missed out on most of God's blessings.
The verse says a "good" man will live in God's favor.
Here is the key to walking in God's favor.
When you became a Christian, God did an amazing work in your spirit. He imparted the righteousness of Jesus in your heart. When you allow that righteousness to flow into every area of your life, you begin walking in God's favor.
Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives.
Here are the promises we covered this week.
1 Corinthians 2:6 - The Mind of Christ.
Romans 8:16 – We are the Children of God.
John 14:27 - Jesus Brings Peace.
John 15:8 – You Produce Spiritual Fruit
Hebrews 4:15 - Jesus Understands Your Weakness.
Today's Promise: Hebrews 4:15
Though Jesus was all God and all man wrapped up in one person, He experienced all the daily struggles and temptations we do but remained without sin.
Jesus was tempted, just like you and me, yet He remained without sin. Because He has literally walked in our shoes, he understands the difficulties and problems we face. He knows our weaknesses and how easy it is to fall into temptation.
Jesus, doesn't look down on your weakness. He understands and welcomes you into His presence.
Today's Promise: John 15:8
God desires every Christian to be fruitful. When you are a fruitful Christian, you bring glory and honor to Christ.
Growing Christians, walking in fellowship with Christ will naturally produce spiritual fruit.
The secret to growing spiritual fruit is abiding in Christ. Abiding in Christ is resting in your relationship with Jesus.
God is working in your life to produce spiritual fruit. All you have to do is allow Him to work in you.
Today's Promise: John 14:27
Jesus walked in perfect peace. He was at peace with Himself, His Heavenly Father, and the world around Him.
What would it be like to live in that kind of supernatural peace? Imagine going through your day in perfect peace, no matter what was going on around you.
The peace Christ offers is a peace that begins in the heart and moves into every area of your life.
You receive peace the same way you receive salvation - through faith. It is a gift from Jesus.
Today's Promise: Romans 8:16
Understanding that you are a child of God is at the center of your walk with God. Until you are secure in your salvation, your Christian walk will be full of doubt, indecision, and fear.
If you see yourself as a child of God, forgiven, an heir to the Kingdom of God, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, you will live that way.
Just as Jesus presents us to the Father as His children, the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts that we are His.
