Did you see my Instagram post that I am re-entering employment? I have been a full-time entrepreneur for the last year. I get up when I want, I workout at 10 am, I take a nap at 2pm if I am tired and I eat my lunch sitting at my kitchen table.
That is all about to change.
Mike and I are on a mission to change our net worth and create 10K of monthly residual income by the time I am 40. He is a weeeee bit older so we already missed that mark in him. We used to get caught up in the glitz and glam of people posting about how they are “retired” at these crazy young ages and long for that life. Ok so I have it now and want to know something? It’s great, yes, but I also am realizing that I can create even more financial security for my family by working both my residual based business and a job and since I don’t HAVE TO have a job right now, I can take ones that I am really excited to go to each day.
I was recruited by a local school system to work as a Licensed School Nurse in two of the schools in a nearby district where the kids experience some underserved hardships. Helping kids in need is my JAM! We are licensed foster parents now and we donate much of our income to programs that benefit kid’s needs. It’s never a kids fault for them to grow up in a suckwad life and if I can help them have it a little better and have a little more hope, it trumps a nap at 2pm.
So you are going to see more posts about how to fit in a side hustle into a full-time life because that is what I am going back to. I did it for 2 years in the beginning of my journey and I can do it again. This time I am much more equipped for it! I did a whole episode for you on my typical day that will air in December so watch for that. It will help those of you trying to balance ALL THE THINGS.
Today’s episode though is my home girl Lindsay Zweber. Lindsay is one of those mom friends that you just love being around. She is beautiful, sweet, and a hustler. She has her own side business as well as her and her husband tell on the show today how they started real estate investing in college that is totally paying off now. If you have a teenager who is about to go into college, this episode is for you. And before you start thinking that it’s too late for you, she did this all in 10-15 years so as long as you plan on living another 15 years, this could be you later on in life. But it wasn’t and isn’t always easy for her. She makes choices that some wouldn’t and this is why she is so successful. Successful people always make choices that broke people won’t.
Lindsay talks about how she does the things now like clean toilets in the rentals that def don’t bring her joy and glam but she knows they are things that are helping her financially big time for her future. I love her futuristic mindset.
Enjoy listening to my convo with Lindsay. What do you think about me going back to work? My mom is beside herself. She already thinks I do too much. Don’t worry mom. I can do hard things and I tell myself that everyday.
We are week 2 of a 3 week No Credit Christmas campaign and it’s not too late for you to join in! Book a call with me if you want to learn how to earn $1,000 in the next 2 weeks for Christmas spending.

I’ve been doing network marketing full-time for a year now. I worked hard to replace my take home pay from my job as a nurse and we made the decision for me to quit my job at the hospital to be more present with my kids, one of which was pre-school aged at the time. It was a beautiful yet challenging time for me to be home with her because I wasn’t used to full-time mom life. OMG it’s harder than I thought. In that first few months of being home with her I found myself getting more and more loose with our spending plan. I found myself dipping into savings a little each month and thankfully our savings is high, it’s not the plan I am on! I am on the net worth improvement plan, not the net leak plan. I have since stopped the leak but it impacted our net worth enough to make me pause. We looked again at our vision for our family, what we want our family to look like in 5 years and our ultimate goal in 5 years is to be able to live completely on residual and passive income.
But in there is a middle.
A place where you have to hustle a job and a side gig.
A place where you work during the day and then work to create the extra income in between getting off work and bedtime, mixed in with sports, dinner, baths and stories. It’s the space between doing calls on your lunch break and recording podcast episodes at weird hours and working on Saturday and Sunday at trade shows and vendor booths and checking your Facebook messages more frequently than your friends who use Facebook for leisure.
The magic is in the middle.
The difficulty is in the middle.
It’s when most people quit.
The middle takes extreme creativity to balance your life and 90% of people aren’t willing to do it. You must become a higher level person to handle higher level problems. Sadly so many people quit in the middle and never make it to the other side where all the good stuff exists. In the right side hustle, the middle is incredibly fun.
Mike and I are in the middle and recently I was presented with an opportunity to add another revenue stream to our income, but it means me going back into employment. The exciting part, is it is a nursing opportunity that brings me great joy and passion and also includes all summer off. It’s the first time ever I have taken a job because I felt called to and wanted to vs taking it because of needing it financially. There was a part of me that was worried about whether I could handle it and how it would look to keep blogging, podcasting and working our nutrition business, while adding this new passion project on. At the end of the day what made made decide to take it is the vision for my future and knowing that I can thrive in the middle.
This opportunity will allow us an entire extra income stream, be incredibly exciting to go to and will not take away from the time I have with my kids. Moms of preschool and under- life gets incredibly easier when all your kids are in school (and more affordable) so hang tight because it will go fast. The income from this opportunity will do three things that support my vision: 1. Tithe over 5 figures a year 2. Buy 3 flights a month home to Arizona. 3. Buy 2 additional rental properties that will over time provide thousands of dollars of passive income to our household, all the while our other business is growing steadily.
There was a part of me that was worried what people in the entrepreneurial space would think. “She must not be making any money in Isagenix.” “Her money story is too employee mindset.” “She is giving up.” These were the literal stories I told myself for weeks. Our stories are so powerful, whether they are positive or negative. I choose to tell myself the most empowering story possible.
Here is the story I re-wrote.
My story is that my deepest core desire is to impact lives. My story is that this opportunity will allow me the best way to impact lives. My story is that I am smart to have multiple streams of revenue right now. My story is that this extra income and impact is going to bless a lot of lives by me circulating my time and money. My story is that I will build my net worth through all of it.
The more people I touch each day means I can impact more lives. Of course my own family’s lives are the first place of impact and having a stable financial core for us to be able to create meaning in our lives, spend time together and have our needs met is key. Beyond that, I will impact other’s lives as well. I will help people get out of physical and financial pain, particularly children. We became licensed foster parents to do just that and for some reason we didn’t get calls for a placement. I didn’t understand why until this opportunity to impact 1,000 kids (verse one at a time) was placed on me. Maybe God dropped this into my lap to remind me that impact isn’t always what we think it will be.
Today on the podcast I interview Chris Browning. He is a financial expert with his own journey of needing to take a hard look at his own finances. Just because you are an expert in finance doesn’t always mean you have it all together. He experienced his own hardships due to medical expenses, wedding, moving and getting married.
Can you relate?
He is a financial teacher who had his own money problems. How crazy is that? It’s normal actually. He took his own advice and got himself back on track.
We are all subject to money hardships. Chris advises the first step is to really figure out how much you are spending. Sit down and write out a detail budget of 1-2 months worth of spending. It usually is pretty obvious where the money is leaking. Chris found that food was one of his biggest spending areas. Once you understand the flow of money you can start allocating it. Chris breaks down his own plan and goals for his money to get himself retiring early.

It’s not always glitz and glamour when starting a business. It took today’s guest, Trevor Crane, 20 years to publish his first book.
Trevor 10x his income when he published the book through back end products and other programs that resulted from the book.
Do me a favor, write down your desired income. Now add a zero to it (making it 10x the amount). Would you like to 10x your income? Of course you would! We all would.
Trevor’s YouTube channel, books and programs make it seem like it has always been that way for him but he filed a 2 million dollar bankruptcy in 2009. He knows the highs and lows of business life. He had failed relationships as a result of that and his net worth went to negative. Through it all, he still knew he could come back. He didn’t know how at the time- but he got help and today has a thriving business. Knowing how to package and market the challenges you have been through is what makes the most impact on other people’s lives when you go to help them.
I saw this come true in this podcast journey. I was really hesitant to break apart and expose the parts of my marriage that very few saw. Talking about me throwing a hot bowl of oatmeal at Mike on Episode 5 was something I knew would come out if I pursued this journey.
If you want more influence, more contentedness, more income, then have the courage to take the skeletons out of your closet and share your story. The new currency is authenticity.
Stay for the end of the episode because Trevor tells you the BEST way to network with people in a way that people will want to do business with you along with four questions to ask people when you are networking and the two things that all people want that you can help them with!
Trevor has some resources he wants to give you about writing a book so check out his link here for those: www.trevorcrane.com/writeabook

Teri Dale is the author of multiple books and is a holistic health coach and a cancer survivor. She admits that early in her career as an entrepreneur she didn’t manage her stress and she feels her stress contributed to the proliferation of cancer in her body. She had to make a choice then and there of what she was going to do treat her cancer. She chose to do it holistically without chemo or radiation against her doctor’s advice and 9 months later had a clean PET scan. After cancer she knew she needed to make a shift in her entrepreneurship journey to manager her stress better. She shifted her businesses, became an author and now runs a successful holistic coaching practice for women with a particular passion for those with diabetes or cancer diagnoses.
In this episode we talk about:
Being type A and how that can impact your health
Going from layoff to entrepreneur
Becoming an author and how to write a book
Leaving the 9-5 and pursuing your dreams
Re-framing failure
The power of our thoughts
Teri’s success is driven by a love of learning and helping people getting results. She knew if she helped enough people get what they want, she would be successful (SUCCESS LEAVES CLUES). She knew she could monetize her passion and she recommends that for maximum success, focus on giving value that leads to results and simultaneously stay a step ahead of the competitor. If your competition is doing x, figure out what y is and do THAT to an ever greater service capacity than the competition.
Here are some of Teri’s top tips in this episode:
Stay well educated, take risk, stay up with technology. When you encounter failure, it is a sign that is helping you to learn how to change what you are doing. It is an opportunity to learn….to make a shift…to change to what will work.
Things happen for us, not against us. That is the mindset we have to have in life. Our thoughts about our specific situation is going to determine our results. Negative thoughts will result in negative outcomes. If you ever want to change how you feel about something, you just need to change how you think about it. When you are at peace in your mind, everything in life is easier to deal with.
Teri’s advice on how to start writing a book:
Find out your story. Find a coach. She believes that if you want to do anything excellent, you need to hire a coach to help you. Then DECIDE it’s going to happen and don’t get stuck in the fear of failure and getting caught up on the how.

Mike and I have owned several businesses ranging from wellness consulting, construction sales, apartment and single family rental properties, and the one I am about to talk about.
Network Marketing.
Just hearing the word can elicit a response in some people. I know this because I live it EVERYDAY. I literally have been told, “I avoid you guys because I don’t want to be looped into your scheme.”
Well, if that is you, this episode is JUST for you. Mike and I recorded this episode to debunk the myths of this industry and shed some personal experience into it. 80% of people in America are in debt. Network Marketing is a REALLY great way to help get yourself out of debt. I know this because I used it to get out of debt.
Id like to think I am a nice person with strong values, good ethics and a good sense of humor. I’d like to think I am not the type of person that would “loop someone into a scheme” and mislead someone in any way.
EVERY INDUSTRY HAS BAD EGGS.
There are slimy contractors. Mike isn’t one of them. In fact he is one of the most respected experts in the construction defect industry and highly sought after by many high level attorneys and has been recruited by the top companies. He is proud of his industry and doesn’t quit on it because of a few bad contractors out there. In fact, he usually has to clean up their shoddy work.
There are horrible nurses. I have worked with some. I have seen nurses steal opiates, talk crap about their patients at the nurses station and show up to work high. I am not one of them. I provided excellent care to all the patients I encountered and always put their rights and needs first. I didn’t quit becoming a nurse because of a few bad nurses that get caught, fired and their license stripped.
There are tasteless network marketers. People with little to no sales experience and take a dream to become a millionaire overnight with no effort and sell irresponsibly. I am not one of them. I for sure made communication mistakes as I learned sales (there isn’t a lot of training on sales as a nurse).
What we cover in this episode:
How product moves in network marketing distribution models
How technology factors into today’s direct selling economy
Overhead, write offs, and cost of doing business
Being weird
Pro sales tips for network marketers from Mike who sells million dollar projects in the construction industry
The numbers-how big is the industry compared to the NFL, NHL, film, and music industry
What the future of network marketing looks like
Why we got into it, how to become good at it, and why so many people fail at it
If you know someone who needs education about the network marketing industry, please consider sharing this with them. The more educated we can all be about this industry, the more we can live in it responsibly.
Much love to you this week.

Does your money story need to be healed?
Today’s episode can help you.
Money is one of the top three reasons why people get divorced. Money can be a topic of confidence instead of shame. It can be healing instead of painful. But you have to get naked financially in order for that to happen and let yourself or others into your money situation to help you!
Take baby steps.
Even deciding to take ownership of your money is a baby step.
Money is energy. It is constantly in flow.
Lisa Witonis helps people with this. She shares her own money story of paying off $240,000 of debt without selling their house. She is a prior teacher turned money educator. Prior to paying that money off she had to dive into what scared her the most. She knew if she had a plan she would know what the next step was. One of the ways that we get stuck in a money story that doesn’t need to be our story is when others imprint a story on us and we believe them. Liza was told “Teachers don’t make any money” and she then allowed that to be imprinted on her mind. She shares from beginning to end how she paid that debt off.
Watch Liza Jedi mind trick me when I tell her my goals to be a 7 figure earner goal. She recommends that I act like I would if I was ALREADY earning 7 figures a year. She coaches me to welcome in the wealth and be a shepherd of it. I also pour my heart out about my recent overspending and ask for help on what to do about it. She walks me through a visualization of what to do in the those overspending moments when I am staring at the online cart with the items in it I know are going to push me over the spending plan. She walks me through how to self soothe and tell my IMG (inner mean girl) to stop telling me a story that isn’t mine with this question:
“How can I service the feelings I am feeling right now and and replace it with an empowering statement?”
How can I get in alignment with what you really want?
Do you use words like “Can’t afford it” or “Too Expensive”?
Whatever you are saying that statement to is something that you are not valuing. If you are using those words you don’t value the item. If your customers are saying this to you, then this is a clue you need to add more value!
So what if you are in the beginning and haven’t made the money yet? What if you have a side hustle that isn’t yet making money? What if you are starting a new network marketing business and you don’t yet have a team? Liza recommends that in these moments you have to VISUALIZE that it’s actually there. You have to take your side hustle serious, take the emotions out of money and take concrete steps to get there.
You can change the legacy of your family and have hope for the future.

Do you understand the importance of branding and trademark protection? A friend of mine asked me if I had Trademarked my Net Worth It brand and I was like, "Say whaaaa???" She then told me a story of when one of her Facebook groups had to be changed because someone infringed their Trademark rights on her because the names were similar. So I immediately went to the USPTO office and applied for my own Trademark. It totally would have been helpful to know someone like today's guest while I was applying to save me the headache of potentially making a mistake on the application.
Intellectual Property Lawyer Derek Hawkins helps people with branding and trademarks to protect your brand. The biggest key in trademark is exclusivity, where you are the first one to use the brand. If you operate on your own brand that has a name, symbol and identity this episode is for you. I have a trademark for Net Worth It™ but not for my nutrition business because I am a 1099 of the company I partner with and operate that under my personal taxes at this point until it is put into a LLC or S-Corp. Being a 1099 partner is one reason I love that business, it is so much less work as a busines owner than my Net Worth It brand.
There are 5 different marks of trademark that exist and Derek breaks down the different types and when you use them. He also talks about the different types of classes and categories within the USPTO for branding. Trademarking is a lot more complicated than I thought it was and I am excited for all of you side hustlers who need this to protect your awesome biz ideas!

Srsly. Trying to change your net worth through a business side hustle as a parent is about as mind exploding as it comes. I love my kids. Kids if you are reading this after I am long gone, please know I had nothing but love for you. However, trying to also build a life where I am the most present in your life has been something I need to seek guidance for, gives me tears at night and makes me sad when I see you grew another inch.
I follow many people who I feel demonstrate this well (Rachel Hollis, Peta Kelly, Carol Chamberlain (mom), April Seifert - follow them). I remember being a kid and watching my mom go to work. I only remember one weird daycare situation where I wanted her there stat but that is because I licked the community peanut butter knife that was being passed around which I got in trouble for and I thought mandatory naps was a lame rule. Overall, I don't really remember daycare or being away from her sucking. I do remember her getting up early, leaving the house before me sometimes when I was school aged. I remember walking to school with my brothers, feeling independent for doing so. I remember her white lab coat and her perfect smell and her lipstick. She has thin lips like me and she always wore pretty make up and lipstick and does to this day. I remember her hair being done and her jewelry being obnoxious (it still is mom and I love you for it). I remember a mom that hustled to provide for her family. I remember a Proverbs 31 woman.
Here is the point.
I don't remember feeling stressed that my mom worked. I don't remember feeling robbed. I only remember good things so all of us moms who think that we suck at this mom/working mom/side hustle/net worth growing life... STOP. Just stop. You are fine. Your kids probably don't remember things like you do. Natalee Champlin has a podcast episode interviewing one of the only female private jet dealers, Rene Bangelsdorf and she talks about how your kids don't have to have all of your day. They actually might benefit themselves with a little time away from your cra cra.
The one thing I have learned as a mom who was managing a job, a business and being a mom to 3 kids simultaneously is that time HAS to feel and move differently for me. I love all my single friends but there is a super power time warp skill that happens when you become a parent. I always joke that if you asked me before kids if I would ever agree to get up every 45 minutes throughout the night and let something pinch my nipples for 45 minutes I would have punched you in the face. And then I had kids. Guess what? THEY ACTUALLY DO THAT.
So how does a mom do it? I recently read the book The Big Leap and learned about Einstein time and then spent a few weeks obsessed with the theory of relativity. This is the Einstein theory that time and space are not what we think of them as. They are more flexible. More relative. So if I am going to DO IT ALL, or ALL THE THINGS as people say now, I have to view time differently. I have to perceive it differently and learn to work in my best times. I found this moved the needle further in my business, commute, bedtime routines, morning rituals, podcast uploading, team meetings and even when I meet with potential customers who reject me.
Speaking of Einstein, did you know he was practically unemployable and took crap jobs in the meantime of finding his passion and true calling? One of his first jobs was working with patent applications. Can you picture a sheer genius doing mind numbing paperwork all day? He did what he had to do in order to pay bills, eat and live. So never underestimate yourself or your dreams because you are doing both a side hustle and job. A smart person would built it in the pockets of their life and take smart risk. We have heard this time and time again on the podcast in episodes 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 21, 23. See a pattern? Be proud of that job while you build a hustle. That means you are an extraordinary human who can master Einstein time.
We have one finite life.
Period.
I will die one day. You will die one day. We all will die one day.
We have ONE finite life.
Today's guest is on a mission to help you feel the weight of that statement so hard you take action at everything you want to accomplish. April Seifert has a Ph.D. in social psychology and among many things (skydiver, data scientist, MS warrior, mom, podcaster, entrepreneur, power lifter, runner, course creator) her life mission is to help women step into the scary parts of their desires and dreams and take the leap.
In this episode she tackles the topic of money in a way I have never experienced. She asks you to answer the statement, "I am the type of person who makes __________ amount of money." In answering this statement and digging into how to up the amount she gives tips for changing your brain patterns to convince your brain that in fact it does want to make more money.
We also cover the topics of why should you want to make more money, what money represents and she tells of how she was diagnosed as a teenager with MS and growing up living on one Totino's Pizza as a family of 4 after losing her dad to cancer.
One of my favorite spots in this show is when she talks about risk taking with money and making sure that we have enough savings will help buy you options and mental safety. I could totally relate in this moment, thinking back to times when our credit cards were full of debt and there was no safe feeling at all.
April recommends taking small steps when you feel afraid and this episode is full of laughter, heartfelt moments, story telling that will make you remember the concepts and set your soul on fire to achieve that next goal.

Do you and your partner fight about money? You know that Mike and I have been there! This whole podcast is a result of us overcoming our money fights (just go back and listen to Episode 5 where I talk about throwing a bowl of hot oatmeal at my husband)!
Today's guest is Jill Ellingson, MA, LMFT, who is a licensed therapist and gives you some amazing and practical tips of how to handle money discussions, tools to help you and your partner in money conflicts and will make you feel SO NORMAL. Jill has a business background prior to being a counselor so her perspective on money is GOLDEN. She is solutions focused therapist. Her goal with her clients is to figure out what is not working in your life and learn new tools so that you can empower yourself and not have to rely on therapy in the end but rather do check ins when you need a tune up. She focuses on walking alongside of her clients.
So how big of an issue is money with couples? Jill says it is in the top 3 that she sees in the therapy room.
What values and beliefs do you have about money?
This is the first place Jill starts with people. It is largely what we learned as a kid. A lot of people don't think about this. Money is a big part of our culture and family. She recommends to have empathy, which is putting yourself in your partner's shoes. The next step is to create a spending plan and she likes the word "spending plan" vs "budget" because budget has a negative connotation.
One of the tools she uses with her clients is the Gottman Institute The Meaning of Money exercise.
So we have all been there in the heat of the moment about money. All of us. When you are heated, Jill recommends taking an adult time out. Trying to have a productive conversation in an escalated state is a waste of time. This is because when we are heated the amygdala part of our brain is what is taking over and our rational thinking is turned off in that moment.
When to know when to seek professional help: When the issue is persistent and re-occurring problem. We are never looking to solve all our money problems in counseling, but really rather learn new tools. Jill offers some great tips for this in this episode!
