The Dark Corner presents Gossamer, a Saturday Knights Live adventure. That is, Brandi, Chelsea, Chris and Dave play Dungeons and Dragons before a live audience. It takes place at The Comedy Loft here in Ogden, Utah.

Can LaDrina leave her barstool long enough to adventure? Can Sir Harold balance being woke with laying on hands? Meanwhile, can the Stupendous Kyle function in society? These questions and more are answered in this story where mystery and fantasy collide.

Follow our hapless heroes as they investigate drug use at a bardic academy. For example, experience the half orc gym instructor. Also, meet the drama kids from the Bardic College of the Arts. Witness the sickly pony. These are but a few highlights from this month’s scenario, Gossamer.

Also, Brandi gets sick on a plane. No. Not in that way. However, she does have a nice room near the beach. Yet, she is too ill to really enjoy it. She curses the woman that got her sick.

In reviews, Brandi digs on the Iron Spider suit. However, her finger hurts from slinging webs. Meanwhile, Dave digs underwater in Minecraft. Also, he acquires a Dragon Egg. We review the stunning film, Annihilation. For instance, the screaming bear haunts Brandi. However, she now wants to read the book series that inspired the film.

The Dark Corner Podcast returns with the New Years Music Special 2018. That is, we play ten tracks from the dark alternative underground. Moreover, we choose newly discovered songs. Also, we talk about Christmas. We review several films as well.

We open with Divided We Fall by Kelli McCarthy from Ex Tempore. Kelli performs electro synth pop. Also, we share our Christmas stories. Brandi gets make-up. Also, she gets the Spider-man video game. Dave gets a book. It presents a history of Dungeons and Dragons in art. He also gets a sound mixer. Dave orders a case as well. Additionally, we enjoy some good food.

Secondly, dream pop band, Bella Lune, performs a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir. This song appears on Covers Vol. 1. Also, Battlejuice performs Falling Star (Feat. Oceanside85). Battlejuice labels their sound as retro wave. Additionally, we review Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This animated film deserves all the praise.

Thirdly, we play a double bill of sexy tunes. Junksista performs Away with the Faeries. Meanwhile, Beauty Queen Autopsy performs Good Giving Game (Go Fight Remix). This remix features cool drums. Also, we review Aquaman. We enjoyed it.

Up next, we play some gothic treats. For instance, Toronto’s Cockatoo performs Kashikikawa. Also, Sound VVitch follows with Rings. We find it creepy. Additionally, we review Mary Poppins Returns. We loved it.

Following, we play a double bill of electronic music. State of the Union performs Industrial. The band offered this song on Twitter. Also, Lederman De Meyer performs Atoms in Fury (Mark from Mesh – Block All Cookies Remix). Finally, we review The Shape of Water. We found it enchanting.

We close this New Years Music Special 2018 with Daniel B Prothese vs. Edwin Vanvinckenroye 99.9 performing Brothers. This song blends EBM and experimental music. Happy New Year, everyone!

In this show, Brandi describes her experience in a murder bathroom. It happened at a Wiseguys after a comedy show. Also, she shares her feelings about Fallout 76. She looks at how the series approaches online gaming. Additionally, she reviews the comic book, Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider. Meanwhile, Dave reviews The Sound of Music by martial-industrial powerhouse, Laibach. He explains how this album softens the usual harsh edge of Laibach’s sound.

The Dark Track is Devil’s in the Details by Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys. The band performs a variation of steampunk complete with era appropriate instruments.

In the point, we present a live Dungeons & Dragons show from The Comedy Loft in Ogden, Utah. Saturday Knights Live is a fantasy version of the Wild West with Dave as the dungeon master. Despite a small audience, the show is a humdinger. Also, we play by 5th edition rules.

Brandi plays the con woman, Ladrina Sharp. She is a half-elf rogue with some skill with a rapier. Meanwhile, Chelsea plays the paladin, Harold Armando LaRonde. Harold is the living image of wealthy white male privilege. Finally, Chris plays the sorcerer of wild magic, Kyle Stormdor. Kyle is full of it. It being magic.

Expect goblin hordes, gruff sheriff’s deputies, adorable brats, and local comedy. Can these characters survive 1st level? According to the number of low rolls, probably not. At least they don’t encounter a murder bathroom. That bathroom is reserved for an entirely different purpose. Oh, and a devil makes a special appearance.

Brave & Dandi perform R Rated Comedy at The Comedy Loft in Ogden, Utah. In this late show, we do scenes from the jungle in Jumanji to a treehouse. For instance, a wealthy couple trade barbs in the back of a limo. Also, two miners discuss the nature of God while in a collapsed mine.

Additionally, crew members of the starship Enterprise get to know one another better. A White House aide panics at the the Democrats taking the house. Also, two friends yell obscenities at the referee of a basketball game.

That’s not all, though. Dave reviews the third season of Daredevil. Also, he compares Ash vs. Evil Dead to Stan against Evil. Brandi starts Fallout 76 while Dave works on retooling a live Dungeons & Dragons show. Additionally, your hosts catch Jackie Kashian at Wiseguys at Jordan Landing. Brandi buys a shirt and we have are picture taken.

The Dark Corner Podcast presents The Attenders Post Halloween Discount Show. In association with The Comedy Loft in Ogden, Utah, we host a live, real play event of Dungeons & Dragons. Moreover, we play by 5th edition rules.

Meanwhile, you will hear the sound of candy wrappers and rolling dice.

We may possibly record another show at the Comedy Loft this month. The Loft has added mature rated shows for a 9:30 slot. As such, our two-person comedy improv show, Brave & Dandi, has been scheduled to perform on the 17th of November.

The Dark Corner hosts a Haunted House Party. That is, we review The House With a Clock In Its Walls and The Haunting of Hill House. For instance, we show how Clock in the Walls precedes Harry Potter. Furthermore, we discuss the more creepy aspects of the film such as the use of the occult. Additionally, we show how the re-imaging of Hill House is unlike the book or the classic film. Therefore, we focus on the family in the film. Also, we look at acting and direction, particularly in episode 6 of the Netflix television series.

Brandi and Dave touch on comedy improv. For instance, Dave fails to record a Brave & Dandi Show. We perform at a library. Also, Dave does comedy improv at a wedding. Meanwhile, the bride performs capoeira moves in a wedding dress.

Dave recommends a new podcast, Commentary Club featuring Jim and Theresa. Commentary Club is a show that comments on classic, cult and crap films as you watch. Subscribe and listen while you watch Ghost Watch this Halloween.

Brandi cracks open an issue of Asgardians of the Galaxy in Comics Corner. She relates the bare bones plot. However, she also explains to Dave the characters, Throg and Kevin.

The Dark Track is House by (((S))) from Welcome to the Heartland. (((S))) is a post punk band from Denmark. Meanwhile, House is a creepy song with staccato drums and jangly guitar.

Dave shouts out Chelsea for offering free tickets to The House With a Clock In Its Walls. Also, he wishes her the best as she takes a month off from Dungeons & Dragons for nanowrimo. Following that, Brandi shouts out Eric for performing comedy improv with us. Eric plays trumpet for local ska band, Scheming Thieves.

It is the Halloween Music Special 2018. Therefore, celebrate the start of October with The Dark Corner Podcast. That is, we play ten songs from the dark alternative scene. For instance, we play tracks from gothic rock and death rock to synth pop and dark hip hop.

We open with post punk from Dallas, Texas. That is, we play Ghosts by Ending the Vicious Cycle from Quintessence 2008 – 2018. Also, we play some gothic rock. For instance, we play Zombie Walk by Two Witches from The Finnish Post-Gothic You Should Know. Additionally, we play My Demon of Madness is Getting Weak by Rot on the March from Era of the Penultimate Steps.

Furthermore, Naughty Zombies perform the death rock song She’s a Vamp from Demo #1. Meanwhile, Bella Lune performs a cover of Dead Souls and Defence Mechanism performs the electro-industrial song, Last Man on Earth (7 Inch Edit). Both songs come from Face the Beat: Session 1.

It’s not all music as we begin with some banter. After that, we talk about our inclusion in improv from performing as Brave & Dandi to starting a live play Dungeons & Dragons show. Also, Dave introduces Brandi to Bowsette. Furthermore, we review Disney’s animated shorts and film, Marvel Rising. Relatedly, we resist the temptation to buy a Squirrel Girl action figure.

Also, Brandi gets back into the live podcast game by recording Live from the Edge with her partner, Bruce. Together, they cover the Short Treks related to Star Trek: Discovery. Furthermore, we give birthday shout outs to Bruce and our friend and improv coach, Matt.

 

The Dark Corner Podcast returns to the Comedy Loft with Brave and Dandi Get Small. Brave and Dandi presents a long form comedy improv show based on locations suggested by the audience. For example, an Icelandic couple discuss politics. Also, two scientists are tapped in the nucleus of an atom. Batman explains to Catwoman why he prefers to work alone. Advanced humans long to see the sun again. Your hosts question ghosts about Dungeons & Dragons. Furthermore, two Californians wait out a Kaiju attack.

Similarly, we have more to say regarding improv. Brandi prepares to host the O-Town Throwdown. Meanwhile, Brandi and Dave look forward to performing in the Throwdown at the end of the month. Also, we will perform in a spooky improv show at a local library. Additionally, Dave plans for a live Dungeons & Dragons show.

In reviews, we admire the improvements in the second series of Iron Fist. We catch up on The Flash. Also, we look forward to the new Twilight Zone series and the new shorts for Star Trek Discovery.

The Dark Track of the Week is Gotham City by Jordan Reyne from the album, The Ironman.

We report from FanX 2018, the Salt Lake City Comic Convention. That is, we share our experiences across all three days of the convention.

To begin with, Brandi hunts for autographs. She collects signatures from the DC television universe. For instance, she meets John Wesley Shipp twice. Also, we meet the Legends of Tomorrow, Brandon Routh and Caity Lotz. Furthermore, Brandi unexpectedly meets another hero, Erin Gray from Buck Rogers and Silver Spoons. Additionally, we get photos signed by Michael Rooker, Brent Spiner and David Tennant.

Furthermore, we attend the panels of Michael Rooker, Brandon Routh and Caity Lotz as well as the Rocky Mountain Droid Builders panel. Also, we catch the last half of Brent Spiner’s panel.

The Dark Corner hits the venders, picking up a set of dice trays from the Die Hard booth. Brandi buys a lightsaber of many colors. Also, Dave buys a commemorative T-Shirt while Brandi adopts a stuffed, feline Captain America. Furthermore, we leave the convention with a number of pillows by Fandom Fads. Brandi also finds a leather bound book suited to her Dungeons & Dragons character.

Cosplay is the common thread across all three days. We discuss a few choice cosplayers we happen to see on the convention floor. On day 2, Brandi dresses as Jessica Jones and gets the nod from the man who played Killgrave. Finally, we attend the cosplay competition on the final day. Also, a dance party breaks out.

However, this year at FanX 2018, photo ops disappointed. From the holding pen to waiting in line, from having the photo taken to getting the photo and a digital print, the photo ops showed mismanagement and a lack of communication. Many missed the opportunity to get a photo op, while the convention left people requiring assistance in the lurch. Meanwhile, the response from the convention varied from insensitive to unsatisfactory. For the first time, they valued the number of photo ops sold more than the quality of experience provided for fans.

Ennead means a set of nine things. In this case, the Dark Corner Podcast celebrates nine years of podcasting. We go over the number nine as it pertains to maths. After that, we discuss nine in mythology and pop culture.

For instance, Dave talks about the nine palaces of Feng Shui. Brandi reads the 9th amendment. Furthermore, Dave lists the nine circles of hell. Meanwhile, Brandi tells the story being the whole nine yards. Finally, Dave explains how he came up with the nine nations in his Dungeons & Dragons campaign. In short, we cover many instances of an ennead.

In news and reviews, Brandi and Dave watch the Rifftrax version of Krull. Can riffs save this movie from overlong scenes of horse riding and mountain climbing? Furthermore, Brandi shares some news regarding Ben Affleck and FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention. Also, we nerd out over Dottie, AKA Elizabeth Daily. Additionally, your hosts cut the cords and go for streaming content only.

In Comics Corner, Brandi reviews the newest launch of the Fantastic Four. This issue begin where you might not expect it. Furthermore, there is promise of the return of Doom.

In Deep Cuts, Dave presents 9-15-2000, Brussels. In summation, this live album supports Einsturzende Neubauten‘s tour for the Silence is Sexy album. Einsturzende Neubauten is an experimental, industrial band with a Germanic sense of humor.

Next, the Dark Track is Nine Dragons by Faith and the Muse. The song comes from :Ankoku Butoh: and has a definitive Japanese flavor. Faith and the Muse is a dark wave band featuring a former member of Christian Death.

In promos, we present an ad for We Got This with Mark and Hal. We Got This is a comedy debate podcast on the Maximum Fun network.

Finally, in shout outs, Dave acknowledges the Feed My Ears Facebook group. Meanwhile, Brandi spreads some love for her best friend, Taura.
