The Dark Mark Show

This week is the 20th(!) Anniversary of the release of Alien vs Predator and the date the new Alien movie Alien Romulus is out in theaters. So here is a classic show from 2022 where Mark and Nicole discuss all things Alien vs Predator

This week Mark and Nicole do something different which may lead to a new spinoff podcast, they discuss one of Nicole's favorite movies Alien vs Predator and try to answer these questions and more:
Is AVP a horror movie or an action movie?
Why didn't Sanaa Lathan become a bigger movie star?
Is Paul WS Anderson an underrated director?
How powerful is the Alien acid blood?
How did this movie get rated PG-13 and did it hurt the movie?
Why didn't they answer the question of who would actually win in a fight between Alien vs Predator?

You can order Nicole's new poetry book "Slow Burn" on lulu.com

In memory of our friend Cleve Hall we are rebroadcasting his first appearance on The Dark Mark Show from 2019

Today's fun sized episode is probably the gothiest Dark Mark Show yet as Mark welcomed the "goth Mr. Rogers" Cleve Hall and Rotten Kitty to the lighter side of the dark side

Cleve started as a child making Godzilla suits which led to him appearing and making costumes for Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and has worked on such films and TV shows as ReAnimator, Troll, Yo Gabba Gabba and the upcoming Jay and Silent Bob Reboot as well as working with musicians such as Devo, KISS, Alice Cooper and Insane Clown Posse. He talks about his own reality show Monster Man and what was actually real and what wasn't, explains why you should always name your hearse, why practical effects are better than CGI and what it's like living next to a graveyard.

Kitty cleared misconceptions up in that she has performed at burlesque shows, but not as a dancer, as an MC only. She waxed nostalgic for her days as a child star and the ever dwindling residual checks she would receive. She recalled a particularly bloody modelling session and how much she enjoyed the original Clash of The Titans, Harry Hamlin's hair and the mechanical owl notwithstanding.

This is one of Mark's favorite episodes, where he got to speak one on one with Terra and, even better, got to hear her sing live.

Singer-Songwriter and YouTube pioneer Terra Naomi joined Mark in studio for some terrific conversation and musical magic

Terra talked about singing as an infant before she could walk, growing up with hippie parents who grew some interesting crops, how her song “Say It’s Possible” went viral and how she was the #1 musical artist on YouTube for a time, how she connects with her fans, how signing with Island Records turned out to be a mistake and a learning experience, how Al Gore inspired her to write the song that would change her life and how she accidentally sent Vice-President Gore a Friendster request, how it felt to sing to 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium for the Live Earth concert which earned her props from Spinal Tap and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Terra also sings “Machine Age” and “For My Last Number” live in studio

We here at The Dark Mark Show were heartbroken to hear about the passing of Lady Remedy Ann Fetish. As a tribute to her we are replaying the show where she was a guest in 2020.

Dominatrix Lady Remedy Ann Fetish joined Mark and Hannah live from the dungeon at Sanctuary LAX. She talked about how social distancing has affected her business and talked about her kink specialties of flogging, whips and chains, foot worship, trampling, male chastity, cock and ball torture and balloon popping (!)

She even gave Mark an example of verbal domination which made him say a safe word

It's John DiResta's birthday this week and we are proudly presenting his appearance on The Dark Mark Show in 2022

Mark and Nicole welcomed NYPD officer turned sitcom star turned reality TV star John Diresta to the lighter side of the dark side.

John grew up in Queens and did some NYC bonding with Mark. He talked about his days in the homeless division or Uber before there was Uber as he puts it, working as a transit cop which meant phone calls in the middle of the night to identify bodies run over by trains. He was always funny and pursued stand-up comedy with permission from his wife in exchange for conceiving a 3rd child. He talks about how he got a sitcom on UPN entitles DiResta, only to have it follow a slave themed sitcom and be the lowest rated show in prime time. He also signed the worst management deal in the history of show business. He recovered to star in Miss Congeniality with Sandra Bullock, 15 Minutes with Robert DeNiro and How to Lose a Guy in 7 Days with Matthew McConaughey and then went broke. He recovered by restoring lost treasures he found on the streets of his home in North Hollywood and having 3 reality shows with his brother Jimmy DiResta. This only scratches the surface of all the great stories in this hilarious episode

Our friend John Hawkes got an Emmy nomination for HBOs True Detective: Night Country this week. In honor if his well deserved nomination, we are replaying our last studio show before the pandemic where he was on with his bandmate Rodney Eastman and broadcasting legend Bree Walker

It was a star studded show as Academy Award nominated actor John Hawkes, Emmy Award winning newscaster Bree Walker and Saturn Award nominated actor Rodney Eastman joined never nominated for anything Dark Mark in studio

John and Bree bonded over growing up in small town Minnesota. John and Rodney both talked about how star struck they were when Bree came to see them perform and Bree mused about how inspiring their music is. There were some surprisingly positive words spoken about both Charlie Sheen and Shia LeBouf. John talked about hiding out from Jennifer Lawrence and what it was like to act together in Winter's Bone, for which they were both nominated for Oscars. Rodney finally gives us the real reason he had a teardrop tattoo in one scene of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors but not in the rest of the film. Bree talks about getting in between Jack Nicholson and Donald Trump and what it was like to party with Andy Warhol in the 70s.

Rodney and John have a new theater show "Rodney and John and The Meaning of Life" and tell how they are qualified to give us that meaning and preview a spoken word piece from that show.

This week we replay one of our best shows, the first one with Nicole Sixx as a permanent cohost with 3 of our favorite people and guests Amazon Eve, Cig Neutron and Rannie Rodil.

Mark and new cohost Nicole Sixx were quite surprised when Amazon Eve burst into Skidrow Studios wearing green makeup courtesy of Cig Neutron and Rannie Rodil and started playfully attacking and choking Mark to start the show.

Amazon Eve talked about how she was inspired by the burlesque scene while filming American Horror Story in New Orleans, How Michael Chiklis taught her how to do a fight scene, her bionic body parts, and why the term transgender is too limiting to describe her.

Cig talked about getting 2nd place on the show Face Off, how he and his girlfriend Rannie collaborate on their creative cosplays, how the time Rannie cosplayed as Cig may have inspired some self love, how his fellow Face Off finalist Drew Talbot moved to Los Angeles and ended up living with Cig and Rannie in a home which apparently has Jeff Goldblum’s hand on display.

Cig, Rannie and Drew made Amazon Eve up like a certain comic book character and Amazon Eve and Dark Mark had a furious wrestling rematch for which Cig, Nicole and Rannie did their best commentating between laughter.

It was multi-media artist/psychic/dancer/comedian/actor/model/cinematographer L. Faunt so in celebration of her birthday here is a Dark Mark Show classic from 2022 where they and Dark Mark talk about one of their favorite movies, Lost Highway

Mark and L went down the non-linear rabbit hole that is Lynch's notorious 1997 film to talk about:

The entire Lynch filmography and the irony that his next feature after this was a G rated family film for DIsney

The awesome but now outdated 90s technology (including massive cellular phones) that makes this already a period piece

How the GenY and Millennial crowd at the screening they attended responded to all the sex and nudity

Whatever happened to Balthazar Getty?

Why was this movie nor released on DVD in the USA for over 10 years?

How the OJ Simpson trial inspired the story, and the irony that the next big celebrity murder trial was Robert Blake, who was already super creepy in the movie

The soundtrack curated by Trent Reznor which generated some of the best music by Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson, contained one of David Bowie's best songs and introduced Rammstein to the world

How this movie may have been made to dis other filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino and Oliver Stone

All of this and so many theories and analyses on this show...your head will spin...

Stitched Up Heart bass player Randy Mathias and actor/comedian Rosalee Mayeux joined Mark and Nicole for a fast and funny show

Randy has known Mark and Nicole for a long time through the LA Goth scene and talks about his journey from forming bands with former members of Marilyn Manson and Dead Kennedys, to his being in legendary goth band London After Midnight (where he ran onstage in Germany in a thong) to joining Stitched Up Heart and going from touring in a cramped van, to playing barns in Louisiana, to playing on cruise ships, opening for Godsmack and Steel Panther to performing in festivals worldwide (including a recent one where due to weather they headlined in lieu of Guns N Roses). He explains how COVID affected a plan push for the band and stranded him in England for a time and how there is new Stitched Up Heart music on the way and 2023 will be a big year for the band

Rosalee grew up in a small town in Louisiana and then became a very successful fashion model in Paris.  She was fired by Versace in a most unusual way which led to her being the most successful "mom" in advertising, filming over 300 commercials and working with stars such as Leslie Nielsen, Shirley MacLaine and Bill Murray, with whom Rosalee found herself trapped in a closet with. She also talks about starring in the cult movie The Lawnmower Man, and how she found herself again in stand-up comedy where she can tame even the rowdiest and dirtiest crowds in LA and beyond with her sharp wit and stage presence.

10 years ago, a Dark Mark Classic episode featured Adult superstar Venus Lux and pro dom Orpheus Black who joined Mark and Josi for a wild show.

Venus talked about being a 4 time AVN nominee, but being a winner of the Tranni awards, what separates her from the other transexuals in porn, how she narrowly escaped being married to a rich man, showed her amazing breasts, talked about how she is called upon to dominate men but secretly desires to be choked and have her hair pulled.

Orpheus obliged with the choking and talked about being featured in the web series League of Steam, said some surprising things about strap on, gave some lessons in climax control and gave a fire play demonstration with Josi who filled in last minute.
