What can we really control with our kids? whenever they leave the house, victory is a they feel loved. Be within reason they were provided a safe place to grow and learn and develop ethics and morals. And then be as they go forward. They have a good foundation of self-worth, ethics, and morals and are able to function at a beginning basic level in our society. They know and understand communication so that when somebody is taking advantage of them or whatever, you know, they can make a decision about that in a rational way. My upbringing was just sports and I wouldn’t change that for me. But it also made me very ill prepared for other things.
I totally don’t understand “my kid needs to get a scholarship”. You are talking about a three or four year period in their life which, by all accounts, we’d be a lot better in society if we thought college was the new high school. No matter what the statisticians tell you, none of that is the determining factor in a lifetime. In Western society, there are opportunities for sure and I’m a big fan of young people going to school one to mature. But it’s not the end all be all. But the fact that the majority of people don’t even use what they learn, I included. Other than I learned that I have the capability to learn whatever I want. The one thing I do know is kids need to know they are loved, and love can be hard when you have to make decisions for them.
