A year ago, back when my son, Emmett, got home from his 2 year mission to Taiwan...this was the day after we picked him up from the airport.
I had plans. None of them went the way I planned.

There have been times in my life when I've been afraid to own my awesomeness.
Worried other people would think I was bragging or not 'all that.'
Blind to the good I was doing in other people's lives.
Wondering if I had anything special to offer the world.
Have you done these things, too?
I asked Heavenly Father to start making me more aware of my gifts, skills, talents.
I stopped worrying that other people would feel less if I were shining with my best self.
Discovering the opposite was true changed everything for me.
Today, I share some stories and invite you to see your own awesomeness.

Dreams do not fall on deaf ears.
When spoken into the world they begin to take shape whether we realize it or not.
Several years ago, I talked about a dream I had. It seemed impossible.
I didn't give up hope. Within a few weeks my dream was realized...even better than I had dreamed.
All dreams don't happen exactly like this.
There are always behind the scenes things that are happening when we have faith and take action...no matter how random or unrelated it may seem.
Here's to the daily 1% of miracles and magic.

Last year at this time I was on Charlotte Today, the NBC station here. I was talking about how to photograph dads in a way they love to be photographed.
This one little tip goes a long way in my approach to Day in the Life sessions. Often, photographers get frustrated with dads. I take a different perspective that makes photographing anyone super fun.
This principle applies to everyday life, too.

No matter how brave you are, no matter how many awesome things you've done, self-doubt will still try to sneak in.
There is nothing wrong with you if this happens.
You are normal.
We are in this together.
It's what we do with that moment of self-doubt.
Do we listen to it or do we keep forging on, not letting it paralyze us?
In this episode, I share what I do when that self-doubt creeps in.

Do you sometimes wake up feeling less than stellar? Me, too.
In today's The Daily 1% I'm sharing with you the one phrase I say to myself all day everyday.
I've been saying these nine words for several years now and it's changed the way I see myself, my ability to bounce back, and decreased the duration and frequency of my frustration with myself.
It's allowed me more grace and kindness to ME which affects everyone else in my life for the better, too!
