The year 1908 was drawing to a close when Glasgow police was called upon to solve a case of murder which has frequently been described as without parallel in Scottish criminal history. The victim was Miss Marion Gilchrist, an elderly woman of considerable wealth, and the investigation that followed would be a seminal one for Scottish criminal law.
