The debate rages on. What is best, minimalist shoes or cushioned shoes? In this episode I discuss my running journey and experience with cushioned shoes and then how I came to learn about the minimalist shoe movement. I discuss some key facts about the arch of the foot, the Flexor Hallicus Brevis (big toe muscle) and how the arch and toe perform together when running. I also talk about what a pain in the ball of the foot means.
I talk about the research done by Harvard University Professor Daniel Lieberman, Jay Dicharry and the research around allocating shoes based on foot type.
