You might be the best attorney in town, the best physician, the best of anything but if you don’t know how to convey that to the viewing audience all is lost.

Being on TV is a  ‘performance’. How you sit. How you stand. What you do with your hands and face, even the colors your wear make a difference. Ever watch a TV commercial, YouTube video or anyone on camera and ask, ‘what the heck was he or she thinking’?

Here’s a fun fact. The Average American has an attention span of 20 seconds. Something to keep in mind when you’re trying to share your message in any media format.

Frank Cipolla knows all the moves and all the right people in the media busiess. He’s been a Radio & TV Reporter around NY & NJ for years. His company ‘Contacts Media’ creates ‘Guest Placement’ opportunities for all kinds of people around the country whose expert insights are always in demand from the networks. People like lawyers, doctors, financial experts, real estate experts, cyber security experts, education experts, medical experts, credit experts, you name it!

People who are great at what they do go to Frank who’s great at what he does. Getting people on the air! I know Frank a long time. I’ve booked his clients and sent him clients that I thought he could help better than I could in some ways.

  • So Many People Cannot Sleep!

70% of people with trouble sleeping are desperate to improve their sleep and daytime. 'The Hidden Toll Of Insomnia' is  what Dr. Charlene Gamaldo, Professor of Neurology, Johns Hopkins University is joining me to talk about today.

Insomnia she says, is a medical condition.

To understand the hidden toll of insomnia, The Alliance for Sleep and Idorsia Pharmaceuticals, U.S. Inc. conducted one of the largest U.S. surveys of people with trouble sleeping and physicians to highlight the real impact of insomnia on the nights and days of people struggling with sleep.

The Wake Up America Survey reveals that insomnia not only keeps people awake at night, but also impacts their days in various ways – including at work, in relationships and more.

More than half of people with trouble sleeping (PWTS) feel frustrated with current treatment options and 70% of them reported that they are desperate to find a solution that helps them get quality sleep and fully function the next day.

This desperation is underscored by people with insomnia cumulatively spending approximately $7.125 billion dollars   annually on products or sleep aids to improve their sleep, including blackout curtains, white noise machines, and eye masks.

Collectively, the survey’s findings point to a clear need for change in how Americans with trouble sleeping and healthcare professionals are managing sleeplessness.

For more information: Check out the "Wake Up America" website.

Dr. Charlene Gamaldo is a board-certified sleep specialist who also has a board certification in neurology. Dr. Gamaldo is the medical director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Sleep at Howard County General Hospital, a professor in the Department of Neurology and vice-Chair of faculty development of Neurology at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She is also a Provost’s Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and serves on the editorial board of Neurology Today and on the board of directors for the American Academy of Neurology. She is a member of the Alliance for Sleep, a multidisciplinary committee built to promote education, awareness and research on sleep and sleep disorders.

  • What's A Life Hack?
"Life Hacks" provide not only a path to better health and well-being, but ways of saving time, making life easier, and even impressing your friends.   The world’s most successful people have mastered the art of taking control of their lives. Wouldn’t you like to know how to take control of yours?   Today we visit "Our Best Life Hacks:From Friends, Family & Complete Strangers by my book guru buddy Donna Kozik (Kindle Edition)   Benjamin Franklin, being far-sighted, invented bifocals to help him read. He also, being the diplomat he was, laid out a list of 13 virtues for dealing with others. Both of these can be considered life hacks. In 1812, Tabitha Babbitt, watching two men struggle with a timber saw, attached a circular blade to a spinning wheel and the rest was history. Elon Musk, when his schedule demanded almost 100 hours per week of him, found ways of managing his work and sleep hours, including some well-placed sofas in his factories. Judith Edwards, who experienced some rather personal problems during her seven pregnancies, combined the advice of both her doctor and her entrepreneurial son and is now worth $150 million based on her life hack: the Squatty Potty.   Inside Donna's book you’ll find useful life hacks to help you conquer fears, calm your mind and spirit, fight off depression, improve your self-esteem, achieve your goals, and appreciate the world around you.   Donna Kozik is a USA Today & Wall Street Journal best-selling author with a passion for getting people published. She’s most known as the creator of the original “Write a Book in a Weekend” virtual event and its sister publishing program, Done for You Publishing. She works with people to get their books written and in print, on Kindle or both.   In addition to “Write a Book in a Weekend” she is the creator and lead editor of The Community Book Project, which gets people published 200 words at a time.   “Our Best Life Hacks” was written in a weekend.

  • You Know You're A 'Seenager' When?

This Episode Is Sponsored By BetterHelp.com. I love sharing their message because I'm all about making sure everybody’s brains are healthy and attitudes are good. When you need to talk to somebody but not just anybody, there are trained therapists at betterhelp.com to help.

We all Have Things We Do Besides The Things We Do

Doing a little something different today on this show/podcast.

Sharing a few more laughs with long time buddy and laugh partner Charlie Ponger who I invited in to the studio to share some excerpts of what we work on outside this show.

Charlie had a fun idea for a podcast and busted my chops to come do it with him.

It’s called ‘The Official Seenagers’. Dedicated to the over 50 crowd who ain’t goin’ down any time soon, and dedicated to all those coming up behind us to let them know they’ll still be having fun long into the future with the right attitude.

We produce this podcast in a bunker location called the ‘Pongerosa’. We’re speaking to a demo we feel is under-served. Those who've been around awhile but have so much more ahead. We remind everybody, anything's still possible, and that it's never too late for anything.

Today you'll hear excerpts from 'The Official Seenagers' podcast shows that make us laugh.

Launched Nov 2021, without a clue as to what it would become, we've done over 50 shows of what we call  'comedy improv'. We’re figuring it out along the way. A work in progress and we think less is more so most episodes are short like 15 -20 minutes. Followed my own advice, "Risk It or Regret It".

Today we’re sharing tidbits of what we’ve been doing.

Did you know we have ‘Seenager Correspondents’ around the country? Today you’ll hear from LuLu weighing in from San Raphael, CA

We also have “Write INS”. Todays clip ? You Know You're A ‘Seenager’ When... (Senior Teenager)

Lots of laughing at ourselves that's for sure. If we don’t laugh this is not going to be funny. About things like falling over putting on our underwear, etc.

Oh wait until you hear what's  going on with 'Seenagers' In Florida. Our Canadian Correspondent reported in. The colored loofahs mean what?

Then there's The Funnies Report: As in ... Who’s On Injured Reserve This Week? Seenagers have ridiculous accidents.

We through in some relevant news: GEN X Fears Supporting Boomer Parents. 50% of gen X not financially prepared to look after parents if they had to.

Talk some Grandparent stuff: My 3 year old Granddaughter packed up all her clothes in a suitcase and told her parents she was leaving them to come live with me. She thinks I'm more fun. Ha.

Speaking of fun, did you know 'Seenagers' are trying to have as much fun as humanly possible but have no patience when they blow a body part in the process?  Example: I did a backward lunge. Then a Dr. gave me a 'boot' for my sprained foot ligament. Looked like it would be hot. Decided I'd rather limp than wear it. So I limped. Should have paid more attention to the health update from from CNN, on how to avoid soft tissue injury.

Finally 'Seenagers' still have great love affiars going on,  although a 'touch' different then when we were teenagers.  So I re-wrote the words to Dion's 1959 hit song 'Teenager In Love'. My version is called 'Seenager In Love" which you'll get to hear on this episode even though I can't sing. Who cares, we're having fun.

Hope you'll catch the fun vibe too. Enjoy this podcast

This show is sponsored by BetterHelp Online Therapy. Start Today and get matched with just the right therapist for you. Fantastic! Affordable Private Therapy, Anywhere, Anytime.

In this show, I reviewed the latest ridiculous work perks people are on peoples wish lists. Asking for these with a serious face migth be a challenge. 'Hangover Time Off' and 'Houseplant Bereavement Time Off'?

I also just finally watched the movie 'No Time To Die' and wached Daniel Craig play James Bond for the last time. He sure was awesome! Who's next I wonder? And I also wondered 'who' owns the James Bond Franchise? Think Broccoli.

Then there's mention of my being in 'Grandma recovery', even though the olympic sport of grandparenting is total joy.

And then there was the Dr. I finally went to see about my foot injury,  who while holding my foot, mentioned he's not a foot guy. I tell ya these medical referrals are gettin sloppy. LOL

And goodness knows what else I threw in there.

Just changing it up and posting some full shows since I never do.

  • Wanna Live Better? Keep Moving

For A Better Time On This Planet Your Body Has To Keep Moving!

Personal Trainer Donna Deraffele was a young Mom exercising in her Aunts basement when she first started watching other exercise intructors on TV and thought to herself...I can do that! So she risked it. Donna went and got certified and now decades later women of all ages are still lining up for her exercise classes at HealthyFit the the women’s gym in Mamaroneck, NY.

Lots of young dynamos and plenty of 50+ women will be living longer and healthier because of Donna who says you've got to keep your body moving in order to stay healthy and avoid unnecessary injuries.

Donna agrees girls who become women need to ‘adjust’ their exercise moves not to get hurt doing the same exercises they’ve done all their lives.

(No kidding. I sprained a ligament on a backward lunge and haven't been able to workout for  a month and a half? Ridiculous ! )

Good stuff today featured on my Welleness Wednesday  radio broadcast turned podcast for those who missed it. The wellness information and nuggets of knowledge shared on the show are always timely and useful. Enjoy or conversation.

Wellness Wednesday on The Debbie Nigro Show is sponsored by HealthyFit a full service health club serving women in Westchester County NY and Southern CT.

  • Is Anybody Normal? Let's Talk!

Everybody Needs Somebody To Talk To. But In Case You Haven’t Caught On Not Everybody You Talk To Actually Listens or Cares.

Whenever there is anything that interferes with your happiness or prevents you from achieving your goals, it's important to talk about it. Even better if you can talk about it to someone who can actually give you sage advice.

Yesterday I was standing in line behind a man sharing his problems with a woman behind the cash register at the gas station. I couldn’t believe how much crazy personal stuff he was telling her. She gave him change but no advice. I honestly felt bad for the guy. He'd left before I paid or I probably would have gntly mentioned  BetterHelp.com the world largest therapy platform.

I discovered BetterHelp while researching the top podcast advertisers. I was blown away they were #1 and I had never heard of them? So I researched the company more. They’re making professional therapy affordable, and convenient so anyone who struggles with life’s challenges can get help, anytime and anywhere. Online therapy was growing even before the world went haywire now it's really growing full speed.

I'm a huge proponent of talking about mental health. Thank goodness it's no longer a taboo subject. There's so much more knowledge now than there was before. I watched so many people suffer that didn’t have to Including myself along life's twisting paths and It bums me out a little that the world took this long to make mental wellness a priority. But we can only look forward, so I contacted BetterHelp to introduce myself. I told them I'd love to share their message and asked if they would sponsor my show and good work. And they did! Very cool. I'm proud to support them as well, because I know people need help and need to know where to find it.

Joining me today to help you better understand how BetterHelp Online therapy works is Haesue Jo, their Clinical Support Lead. She's also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with years of experience providing individual and family therapy in community mental health, school settings, and day treatment facilities working at BetterHelp. Her current clinical focus includes working with individuals with a variety of presenting problems, including anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, community violence, gender identity, and depression.

One of the first questtions I asked Haesue was "Is Anybody Normal?" Tune into this 2 part podcast conversation where we discuss:  How "Being Normal Is Overrated" LOL;  how to get started with online therapy and get matched with the right therapist; and how BetterHelp is very affordable.

'Very Affordable 'agrees Haesue Jo, is a key deciding factor for a lot of people when they're deciding what's worth they investment.
