  • The Back Stories Of Powerful Women Are Usually Great Ones

Powerful Women Have Earned Their Power In Unique Ways And Their Back Stories Are Usually Great Ones. Take Chanterria McGilbra for example standing here in front of a hot Ferrari in the Wall Street Journal this week.

Her story started when she was 12 and wanted pair of black and white Converse shoes her Dad  couldn't afford. He told her if she wanted the shoes, it was up to her to find a job, make the money and buy them herself. So she did.

Since that day, McGilbra,  biotech consultant, entrepreneur and founder of the girls empowerment organization Prancing Ponies Foundation started working  - and now she empowers the 12-year-olds of today to go after what they want.

Chanterria a wow. I've been following her. Just love her. How could you not love a gal who  pioneered  the "All Female Ferrari Rally" for goodness sakes.  Covid is forcing her to pioneer news ways to continue to power youth through this transformation transition into the new normal. Coming are virtual career fairs and internships , and she's also working on the first socially distanced all women car show.

Chanterria Joins Me For A Fabulous Feature Interview live from San Francisco on The Debbie Nigro Show.

  • Funny Thing About Money Most People Don't Talk About It

The Funny Thing About Money Is Most People Don't Want To Talk About It Until They Have To Or Really Wish They Had.

Often you trust that people who handle your financial matters know what's best for you and many do. Financial Advisors and Accountants may have good intentions but 'the devil is in the details' and not everybody is versed in those when it comes to retirement plans.

If you're a small to mid size business owner you probably want to know about a passionate guy named Ronald Stair who most likely knows more than most and and more than you about protecting your own interests.

Ronald Stair is like the Superman of Retirement Plans. His clients rave and his dedicated employees are happy so they're big on the lost art of 'human contact'.

Ronald's company Creative Plan Designs is to go-to firm in their industry for complex compliance issues and error resolution. His LinkedIn profile headline says it the best; 'Reducing Pension Rules To Crayon'. CPD specializes in designing leading edge retirement plans, actuarial consulting and and administration. He'll review your plan for free to see if it's structured right for your needs. Why not let him? Those expecting inheritance should consider a review as multiple cases have come up  where the money could not be distributed because of non compliance issues in the retirement plan paperwork nobody knew existed.

Besides the numerous awards and recognition, Ron Stair and his CPD team are 'high touch' people to work with who know all the rules so you don't have to worry.

Meet Ronald Stair today on The Debbie Nigro Show.  His website to connect with him is : cpdtd.com

  • Creative People Often Get Financially Screwed

There are many creative souls out there who've done genius work during their lifetime but somehow never got the right people to surround them. Or make them famous. Or protect them to make money. One example is a soul funk group from the 70’s called '24 Carat Black'. Their story finally gets told all these years later by a curious journalist named Zach Schonfeld in his new book GHETTO: MISFORTUNES WEALTH.

Schonfelds book is part of Bloomsbury's 33 1/3 series. It's the fascinating story of the mysterious 1970s funk group and how they became one of the most widely sampled bands throughout hip-hop. Sampling I’ve now learned  is when a musician/producer takes a fragment of a pre-existing song, and then uses it to create a new song. For example, Vanilla Ice famously sampled Queen's song "Under Pressure" to create his own song "Ice Ice Baby." Sampling is very common in hip-hop, as the beats are often sampled from older recordings.

Schonfelds  book  highlights the 1973 soul funk concept album by '24 Carat Black' which is about poverty and inner city struggle. Ghetto: Misfortune’s Wealth, flopped upon its release and sank into cultural obscurity. Strangely many iconic rappers who’ve made a lot of money have ‘sampled’ 24 Carat Blacks music over and over and over and over on albums by the likes of Nas, Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z, Eric B. & Rakim, Digable Planets, and others.

The surviving members of 24-Carat Black have never gotten paid for the countless ‘samples’ (use)  of their music throughout the past 30 years of rap. ( How unfortunate is that? Can they get paid retroactive?)

Zach joins me for a feature interview on The Debbie Nigro Show today.

Zach Schonfeld is a writer, journalist, and music critic based in New York. He contributes regularly to Pitchfork, Vulture, Paste Magazine, and other publications. Previously, he was a senior writer for Newsweek, where he covered culture and entertainment for the print magazine, and an associate editor for PopMatters. This is his first book.

  • Jill Fiore Gives New Meaning To The Phrase 'Working from Home'

Speaking of Underdogs! Jill Fiore Gives New Meaning To The Phrase 'Working from Home'! Jill's a guitarist who lives on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She's caused a good stir playing music and entertaining people outside on her fire escape!

Jill contracted COVID-19 in late March. She was scared she wouldn't have the wind to sing again. “On Day 11 of my quarantine, I finally had the energy to crawl onto my fire escape — and had a feeling of relief,” said the 47-year-old. “I decided then to make my music my top priority.”

I read about Jill in the New York Post  and LOVED her spirit and out of the box thinking and invited her to join me on the show.

Jill was used to playing cool NYC venues that are now closed, so she decided last Saturday, to perform a concert for an audience of 100 people who gathered below her fire escape where she lives on the second floor of a building between Grand and Hester streets in NYC.

She sang along to her cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac and said “It was a moment of connection amongst New Yorkers."

Jill also encouraged fans to spend some bucks local and go get some to-go drinks at nearby bars and liquor stores. She also requested they “please wear a mask or face covering.”

Follow Jill for her upcoming fire escape performances on Instagram @soundandfiore

  • “For Every Underdog Out There Don’t Give Up! You Can Do It!

“For Every Underdog Out There Today Don’t Give Up! You Can Do It! Thanks Joe Namath! We Needed That! Timely inspiration from the infamous NY Jets Quarterback who showed up on FOX & friends with Brian Kilmeade for some football talk, some fun and to share some wisdom. "Lady Luck plays a major role in sports and in life with injury and illness" said Namath. So true Joe.

I'm a huge 'Underdog Lover' and a lover of all people with 'heart', so I'm sharing the fun story and video clip link in case you missed it about FOX & friends Stage Manager Joel Fulton who just got a Tatoo of Joe Namath on his arm. FOX Host Brian Kilmeade, 'surprised' cohort Fulton 'a die hard NY Jets Fan' (0-10 ugh), by skyping in Namath live on the show to see his tattoo. Funny and heartwarming - It's worth the watch.

Fulton gushed that Namath is his #1 one favorite athlete of all time. He's not alone in that sentiment says Joe Blaney, President of The Joe Namath Foundation and CEO of BroadwayJoe Media who joins me on the show. Blaney describes Namath as 'Confident' 'Humble' and 'Philanthropic' and ...still a kid at heart!

Talking Joe Namath, Underdogs and how more than ever right now "Life Is A Team Game".

  • Did You Know Astronauts Train Underwater?

Did You Know Astronauts Train Underwater? Engineer Glenn Butler, CEO Life Support Technologies knows because he's been involved. Glenn was the principal consultant for NASA-Johnson Space Center to engineer zero-gravity simulation breathing systems and develop new oxygen safety standards for the astronaut training program - designed to support the then Hubble Space Telescope emergency repair mission. They were the first to figure out they needed to use NITROX instead of AIR to be able to extend the space walks long enough to fix what had to be fixed.

Glenn Butler is my guest today in honor of the Space X launch. Be cool to understand better how the 4 astronauts on board (3 men one woman) trained to spend 6 months - working, doing science research and sleeping in space - weightless. I offered to teach them how to 'act' weightless, ageless and timeless but they called Glenn instead.

Glenn Butler has more than 35 years experience in military and commercial diving, and clinical hyperbaric operations. He has developed and/or operated twenty (20) plus major hospital-based Hyperbaric Medicine programs internationally. He's involved with NASA and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) clients ongoing. A founding member of the National Board Certification for Hyperbaric Technologists, he's also is a member of the UHMS Hyperbaric Safety Committee. He served for many years as a member of the NFPA-99 Hyperbaric Technical Committee. He has authored several HBO2-related U.S. patents and published more than 36 scientific documents.

Glenn's new book will be released shortly. It's for anyone interested in science and diving. It's about mentorship and passing on what he's learned to the next generation. Very cool.

  • OH WOW Americans Bought 4.25 Billion Bottles Of Wine Last Year

HOW MUCH WINE? Americans bought 4.25 billion bottles of wine last year (I helped the cause), followed by the French 3.6 billion bottles, and the Italians 3 billion bottles. So how much do we know about all that wine we're drinking? Not as much as my guest Jamie Ritchie, head of Sotheby’s global wine business. Jamie's out and about telling everybody to get a copy of 'The New Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia' Featuring Thousands of Recommendations, Expert Sommelier Tips and Unique Food Pairings. By the time you finish reading it the pandemic should be over. LOL It's Huge!

For more than 25 years, The Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia has been a beloved resource for wine aficionados from across the world. This stunning new edition is an oenophile’s dream — and a must-have for anyone looking to become an expert in wine.

This 6th edition, has the latest trends and information on flavor notes, vineyard profiles, tasting room guides, grape know-how and special information on unique varietals. National Geographic Partners is sponsoring this fascinating wine lovers media fun so Jamie Ritchie can tip us off on what bottles are a good value right now.

PS: Jamie Ritchie is one of the world’s leading wine auctioneers and was one of the auctioneers at each of Sotheby’s 16 consecutive “white glove” wine auctions in Hong Kong from 2009 to 2011, selling 10,202 consecutive lots (without an unsold lot). The Sotheby’s Wine business has sales in excess of $100 million per year. More recently, Ritchie was responsible for launching Sotheby’s Wine, a retail store and online wine business, becoming the only major global auctioneer offering fine wines at retail.

Sotheby’s Wine has its flagship headquarters in New York and a second location in its gallery in Hong Kong.

  • THIS App Is A Differentiator For NY Real Estate Players

Knowledge Is Power And THIS App Is A Differentiator For NY Real Estate Attorneys as well as homebuyers, home sellers, mortgage brokers and real estate agents. It's called 'The Hallmark Abstract Service App' and right now only a handful of attorneys in New York have access to this kind of technology that provides this kind of 'on demand' information functionality.

Instant Estimates, Instant Title Quotes , Seller Net Sheets , Buyer Estimates and more.

I found out about this app while speaking to lovely Hallmark Abstract Service LLC CEO Michael Haltman, who spearheads a Veterans charity I admire called 'The Heroes to Heroes Foundation.

I encouraged Michael to join the show today to share what this unique app does and who might benefit from knowing about it.

The Free Real Estate App Produces:
An 'On Demand Title Bill'. A title bill can be created for any property, at any purchase price and with any mortgage amount, across New York State.

In addition to creating Title Bills, the App also creates the following…

    Loan Estimate,
    Closing Disclosure,
    Seller Net Sheet,
    Seller’s Multiple Offers,
    Buyer Estimate,
    Monthly Affordability,
    Rent vs. Buy Analysis

Click here to check out The Hallmark Abstract Service App.
    https://hallmarkabstractllc.titlecapture.com/login

One benefit for a homebuyer or mortgage applicant using this app, is that the non-title insurance premium fees being quoted are Hallmark Abstract’s which are among the lowest in the industry potentially saving up to $1,000 for the buyer.

Hallmark Abstract Service CEO Mike Haltman joined The Debbie Nigro Show for a Feature Interview.
