Random Run In I Never Met! So my daughter's pal Lulu Jolie (the most amazing make-up artist) contacted me on Facebook to see if I could help her first time author pal promote her book. Janet Retta works with LuLu at Lord &Taylor and has worked there for the past 25 years. Married for many years to a wonderful guy she's a mother of four and a nonna to a 2 year girl Layla, a miracle baby who had heart surgery at 2 months old . She's fine.

Recently Janet's mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's . Janet needed to ask for help to take care of her as it has been a difficult year. Janet is a middle child of three girls and was bullied as a child because she had overweight issues . Bullying is still here and never will go away.
Janet's book is about being able to tell your mom or someone in your life about any troubles before it's too late . Great Topic! The bottom line says Janet, is... it is okay to be different at any age. Welcome Janet and her first book "Layla's Fire Breath" today at 10:40am eastern on the show.

Yes Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days, Marion Ross is visiting today! 89 and still fabulous, she finally got her story on paper. Her book "My Days: Happy and Otherwise" just came out and her fans will now hear about her not so happy days too; an unhappy marriage to an alcoholic husband and her struggles as a single mom. But you gotta love her spirit! "I know how tough I am, how tenacious I am," she says. "Nothing can stop me." Marion grew up as up as a middle child in Minnesota. Her younger brother, Gordon Ross, had tuberculosis of the bone and spent time in and out of hospitals. Marion often felt invisible. "I attribute that to giving me a lot of drive," she says. "I didn't get any attention. But inside, there was somebody screaming, 'Look at me!' That makes you become an actress."

She shocked her parents when she eloped at 21 with a fellow actor named Effie Meskimen. She went on to act with Ginger Rogers, Cary Grant, and Clark Gable. Effie became "an unmotivated, moody drinker." They had two kids, Jim and Ellen, but Marion left him when "he began to have an affair with his secretary." She found herself a single mom surviving on unemployment, and resiliently survived some "very, very hard" days. An audition for the disaster movie Airport, is what changed her life. A casting director there was casting a little pilot called "Love and the Happy Days," and told Marion - Hey 'You could play the mother' and she got the part! She and co-star Tom Bosley had a bit of a rough start, but the cast bonded and even formed a softball team. Says Marion, "We taught Henry Winkler how to pitch"

Random Run In with a Great Horned Owl! So I'm hiking through the woods with a friend when we spot a posse of peepers with binoculars and a telescope staring silently and excitedly up at a tree. I whispered what's going on? The answer is in this photo below taken by lead peeper and infamous NYC naturalist Gabriele Willow who joins the show today. It's a Great Horned Owl with her baby nesting in a tree in a super secret location in the Bronx of all places. I was sworn to secrecy ! Willow who was leading a group from the NYC Audubon Society, is known for his birding tours and city wildlife (or city "wilderness") tours, which he has led since 1999, through the parks, gardens, and waterways of New York City. Seriously What are the chances I'd run into him? So cool Gabriel Willow.

Wellness Wednesday. FAKE WEED IS A KILLER. Helping spread the news there's some seriously dangerous synthetic marijuana out there. Synthetic cannabinoids, sometimes called "synthetic marijuana" or fake weed, are human-made chemicals that can be either sprayed on dried, shredded plant material and smoked, or sold as liquids to then be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes or other devices. According to CNN, There are 70 cases of severe bleeding, including two deaths, across Chicago and Central Illinois linked with synthetic cannabinoids -- often called Spice, K2 or fake weed. Health officials warn that synthetic cannabinoids can have serious -- and sometimes deadly -- side effects, and anyone who has a reaction such as severe bleeding should call 911 or be taken to the emergency department immediately. All of the cases involved unexplained bleeding, such as coughing up blood, blood in the urine, bloody nose or bleeding gums.

Random Run In With A Friend Of A Friend! Lovely Annette was getting her nails done next to me in the salon when we struck up a conversation (What a concept for me). Besides telling me of her career as an emergency room nurse, when I mentioned my talk radio show she suggested her friend Arden would be a great guest. Arden Lewis was flying back to New Rochelle, NY from LA to with her Producer Tinks Lovelace to interview Annette and others for the documentary. "Without Incident" is a film of the children who lived the history behind the landmark desegregation case of Taylor vs. Board of Education of New Rochelle, New York - 1961. "Without Incident" explores the many incidents and struggles and steps towards integration by focusing on the lives of real humans that lived this pivotal part of history. This was the first case in the North, seven years after Brown vs. The Board of Education, where an entire elementary school had to be torn down to achieve a level playing field in education. It took three years after the ruling to put busing in place and then tear down the school.

In their own words, we will hear the stories of the High School Classes of 1976 and 1977 as they reflect on being part of a social experiment that began on their first days of kindergarten after state sponsored busing was instituted.
