In 2016 Bee decided to pursue her dream of starting her own PR company, left the corporate world, and excitedly set out on this venture...and in her final week of her corporate job discovered she was pregnant. Whilst growing her daughter she set up and mobilised Liberty PR and spent the first years of both her baby's and her firm's infancy with said baby strapped to her. Bee and I chat about what this experience was really like for her, how her creative drive manifests, the challenges of working and parenting, the current climate in the music industry and what changes we would both like to see. Bee also set up Mamas Across Music Initiative (MAMI) in 2018, putting motherhood and working in music firmly on the agenda.

How common are 'toxic friendships'? How prevelant is gaslighting within western friendships? How do we continue to evolve in our friendships as adults, when the nature of them is becoming harder? Making light of the lack of transparent and consistent friendships, and how painful and traumatic holding unrealistic expectations of one another and cancelling out friendships can be. 

When we talk about being resilient, what is it that we really mean? Why do we (supposedly) need it? How do we build resilience without mental, physical or emotionally negative impact on us or the wider community? Research based episode on conversations about resilience and how generational differences have shaped our understanding of it.

Ableism is the discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior. At its heart, ableism is rooted in the assumption that disabled people require ‘fixing’ and defines people by their shortcomings.

My progression through the world of academia hasn’t been a typical one, for a number of reasons. I didn’t set out to be a teacher. I didn’t set out to be anything. I have flitted from passion to passion and happened upon opportunities and learnt what I needed to as I went. It turns out that this is a bit of a problem, which I will try to explain.

Nathan Peers is a session pop drummer, currently playing for Zuzu and Munkey Junkey. After 4 years at a world renowned music conservatoire training to be a session musician, during a global pandemic, with diagnosed OCD, he talks to Jenn about managing his mental health in the educational system, the transformation he's experienced in the music industry, and being a Gen-Z feminist.
