On the night of the 29th of November 2012, in the same California county, two men ended up flat on their backs about ten miles apart. One of them was 66 years old, from a small town in Punjab. He got into IIT Delhi, then got on a plane to America in 1970 and built success. That night he was lying on the floor of his own seven thousand square foot mansion, in one of the safest towns in the United States, with tape across his mouth. The other was twenty-six. He was homeless. He had been homeless most of his life. That night he was lying on the pavement outside a corner shop in downtown San Jose with enough alcohol in his blood to stop a person breathing. The two of them had never met. Neither knew the other existed. By morning, one of them was dead and the other one was going to be charged with killing him. This is the story of the murder of Raveesh Kumra. But on a cold January night in 2014, one such corridor led to a room that would become the center of a mystery still whispered about years later. Inside lay the body of Sunanda Pushkar—socialite, businesswoman, wife of one of India’s most high-profile politicians. Her death was sudden, shocking, and wrapped in layers of intrigue. Was it illness, despair, betrayal—or something far darker? This is the story of Sunanda Pushkar. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Every year on August 15, Bangladesh remembers a family destroyed inside its own home. In 1975, soldiers entered a residence in Dhaka and assassinated Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with most of his family. Decades later, the date was observed across the country as the National Day of Mourning. But on August 15, 2013, as Bangladesh remembered the violence of the past, another home in Dhaka was becoming the scene of a mystery of its own. The apartment belonged to Mahfuzur Rahman, an inspector with the Special Branch of the Bangladesh Police, and his wife, Swapna Rahman. From the outside, there was little reason to pay attention to the family living behind its closed doors. Until the following day, when something inside that apartment brought the police to its entrance. What they discovered would become one of the most unsettling and fiercely debated criminal cases in Bangladesh, raising questions that extended far beyond what had happened that night. This is the story of that home, and the family that lived behind its doors. This is the story of Mahfuzur and Swapna Rahman. It's the 18th of August, 2007. A Saturday. And in a flat in Lokhandwala, in Andheri, a 16-year-old boy is sitting at a computer, doing what every teenager in India is doing that year. He's on Orkut. And in this boy's messages, tonight, like most nights for the past 3 weeks, is a girl. Her name is Angel. Angel is flirty. Angel is funny. Angel keeps saying they should meet. And the boy is interested, but he's being smart about it. Before anything else, he wants one thing: a photo. Send me a photo. And Angel keeps dodging. Week after week. A teenage standoff, playing out one scrap at a time. Until tonight. Because tonight she sends him a message: "Don's worry? m quite and gud looking. u wanna meet me??? Lez mette up na! wot say?" This is the story of the boy that said yes to a date that would turn out to be his last. This is the story of Adnan Patrawala.
