The Devil in Detail

We return to the gritty, prismacolor bathed streets of prohibition era New York. The battle is beginning between the Shadow and future phenom Grendel. Their tête-à-tête also continues in their alter-egos' lives as Hunter Rose and Lamont Cranston finally meet-cute. Also this week, the colorful Brennan Wagner joins us to talk all things Grendel and especially his adventure coloring this series with his father. In this GIANT_SIZE Ep we go deep and even prove that in the Grendel-Verse, yes, Magic is also...very green.

Then we get a gritty, on the move, nasal passage rupturing Argent story with art by Darick Robertson.

Third, we find Grendel and the boys loading a truck and Grendel is taking out the trash, with art by John K Snyder.

We return to our RWB anthology coverage with three more amazing stories by Matt Wagner and a guest artist. First, in Stan Saki's Devil Say, Devil Do, we hop on board a non-stop chase between a bag man and Grendel. Then, in Devil, Devil, On The Roof by Zander Cannon we see a super paranoid Mob boss cloistered away in his secret suite slowly realize that even he can't hide from Grendel. Finally, the master Matt Wagner returns to the art side with Scared Of The Devil and we see another classic showdown between a Mob boss, Grendel and that stinky old wolf, Argent.

After two weeks of mind blowing guest appearances Eli and Ben finally get back to the exhaustive task of meticulously dissecting every Grendel story, panel and page as only two obsessed cartoonists could! This episode features three stories from the Red, White and Black anthology that elaborate on the 'Devil by the Deed' graphic novella which play with the living, literary structure of one of comics' greatest narrative tapestries!

Phil Hester and Ande Parks give us our most intimate look into the devil-tinged schemes of Barry Pulumbo in 'Devil Crossed'! Michael Avon Oeming revisits and revises Grendel's first clash with the Wondrous Wolf, Argent in 'Devil's Clash'! Farel Dalrymple dresses Grendel as anti-hero in the seedy world of Bernie Gene for "Devil's Retribution'!
