The Disc Connected

Josh Ruben is someone that I have seen grow over MANY years. From his time on CollegeHumor starring in and directing shorts to directing feature films Scare Me and Werewolves Within, Josh has developed into an incredible talent that seems to be taking the indie horror scene by storm lately. With his newest project, A Wounded Fawn, Josh plays Bruce Ernst- an art aficionado that also has a darker side (because- of course). Josh and I discuss the line between comedy and horror, how improv can help prepare for grueling filming schedules, and appreciating films as an experience. Justin Laliberty is someone that has had a huge effect on how many of us have purchased from Vinegar Syndrome and their partner labels. Justin is the Director of Operations at OCN Distro who covers more than 20 labels now, including Vinegar Syndrome, and he is an ardent defender of all things related to archiving films. I had a discussion with Justin about his path from programming film for Alamo Drafthouse to becoming the Director of Operations at OCN Distro. We also discussed film in general, the intellectual impact of some of the partner labels, and then Justin highlighted all of the December releases from OCN. Give it a watch and I hope you enjoy! Black Friday is RAPIDLY approaching and I was able to sit down with Severin Films' David Gregory and Andrew Furtado a couple of weeks ago and get a FULL SCOOP on all of the Black Friday titles. My reactions here are incredibly genuine. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL- First, we discuss everything from David's start in Video Nasties, working for Blue Underground, how Andrew started in restoration work, and how the Severin Cellar is the sleaziest place on Earth- just the way we like it! Severin Films Black Friday Sale will start at Midnight EST on the night of Thanksgiving, 2022, and continue all the way through Monday until 3AM EST Tuesday.  Be sure to shop at https://severinfilms.com and support these incredible releases! - Become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/DiscConnected - Like the page and follow on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/TheDiscConnected - Join me on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/thediscconnected/ - Or on Twitter: https://twitter.com/disc_connected - Email: [email protected] -- Merch: https://www.teepublic.com/user/the-disc-connected - Podcast: https://thediscconnected.podbean.com - If you happen to be shopping on Amazon for something and would like to share some of Lord Bezos' profits with my channel at no additional cost to you, please consider shopping through my link: https://amzn.to/39mcX1t - Tip Jar: https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=TDEVSPJZ9EFCW or paypal.me/RVinls (friends and family only) or  Amazon wish list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/20CR2ZN456P1B?ref_=wl_share - Music is by Michael J.
