First, from Tuesday’s second hour with Nick Ramos. Why has the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign filed an ethics complaint against Judge Brad Schimel?

Next, from Tuesday’s first hour with Maggie Daun. The upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election pits Judge Susan Crawford against Judge Brad Schimel. Maggie’s choice for Judge Crawford is quite clear, but not because Maggie will only vote for a progressive-aligned candidate.

Then, from Thursday’s first hour with Earl Ingram. This combined segment highlights what Wisconsin lawmakers are doing to protect us from the wreckage brought by President Trump’s administration.

Finally, as we always end our shows, something good. From Monday’s second hour with Harvey Kaye.

  • Life, Liberty, and Happiness? (Hour 2)

Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review guest hosts for the day.

At the top, we conclude our discussion from last hour on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with breaking news. Federal Judge Carl Nichols issued a temporary pause on President Trump’s mass gutting of the agency. After that, we bounce to the Department of Justice, now led by Attorney General Pam Bondi. This week, Trump established a task force to end anti-Christian discrimination. Dom and Earl covered this particular topic yesterday. In a final piece of alarming news developing, thousands and thousands of government webpages vanished These pages contained critical information to millions of Americans. And now they are simply gone.

The news from the federal Executive Branch is exhausting. It’s meant to be exhausting. To drain us and leave us unable to muster resistance to protect our democracy. Don’t let it win. So, we end the show with our regular segment, Tell Us Something Good!

  • USAID: Promoting Democracy and Human Rights (Hour 1)

Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review guest hosts for the day.

What is the United States Agency for International Development, USAID? And how does USAID further America’s goals and standing worldwide? Jim has personal experience with USAID, having served with the agency during 2006-2008 in Iraq. Today, Jim brings history and service together to share the mission and practice of USAID to us all. In 1961, Congress passed the Foreign Assistance Act, providing legislative scaffolding for President John F. Kennedy to use his executive power to establish USAID. Now, President Trump seeks to shutter the agency entirely. Despite Secretary of State Rubio’s assertion that all lifesaving work will continue through the application of waivers, that’s a moot point with no one to process them. So what does this critical agency do and how does it contribute to America’s power and influence worldwide?

  • When are Christian nationalists gonna catch a break eh?(Hour 2)

Earl Ingram joins as cohost for the day.

Today, President Trump announced that he’s establishing a task force to end anti-Christian bias. If that confuses you, join the party. In what part of the United States do Christians face discrimination? Certainly, there have been instances of vandalism of churches- but oh wait, that was the group once known as Proud Boys. And they were all just pardoned by Trump.

Next, more nonsense from the 47th President of these United States. Our felonious, truth-averse President asserted in a social media post this morning that DOGE had uncovered an enormous scandal involving truth-aligned media outlets receiving money from the government for what he alleges are biased articles. And this is gonna shock you: he’s right! In part. Outlets like Politico receive money from the government in exchange for their service. It’s called a subscription. But Trump and his billionaire cronies led by Musk are using this, like they’re using every bit of info they steal from the government, to justify gutting agencies that provide lifesaving work. Honestly, the flood has been so intense we can’t find one neat article to give you on that last claim. So start here, with HALF of Wisconsin’s Head Start programs unable to access necessary funds due to this administration’s chaos.

  • Who ARE These People??? (Hour 1)

Earl Ingram joins as cohost for the day.

As President Trump’s administration seeks to break the system by bringing in non-experts to roles that require expertise, we’re grappling with what we can do. Wisconsin legislators are stepping up to protect the American people from the damage. Specifically, our elected Democratic officials seek to put guardrails in place to protect us from the unelected, unqualified, chaos bringers around Elon Musk. Mark Pocan, Wisconsin Congressperson introduced the Eliminate Looting of Our Nation by Mitigating Unethical State Kleptocracy (ELON MUSK) Act. It’s on the nose, but we’re all for it. Our Senator, Tammy Baldwin, introduced legislation to close tax loopholes that benefit billionaires. And Wisconsin Congressperson Gwen Moore stormed House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office to demand answers on who the hell these DOGE people are who are now able to access sensitive tax information.

  • For the common welfare or not? (Hour 2)

We carry over conversation from last hour on the tragic and preventable death of Cole Schmidtknecht, a 22-year old man living in Appleton, WI. Cole died of respiratory distress after being unable to afford an inhaler that his insurance ceased covering. In a lawsuit his family is filing against Walgreens and OptumRX, a subsidiary of United Healthcare, they claim Cole was provided neither proper notification of the change in coverage nor provision of an alternative. This is the world of dollars over doctors, cents over sense, and profit over patients. It’s shameful, it’s wrong, and it doesn’t have to be like this. Our nation, founded to promote the general welfare, can be so much better. We talk with callers throughout the hour who have experienced the worst our healthcare system offers and who know we can turn this around.

We end the hour chatting with Mike Clemens, Civic Media sports reporter, on basketball trading and Superbowl predictions.
