As we covered in our show yesterday, Wisconsin governor Tony Evers announced his plans to oppose Trump‘s mass deportation efforts in our state. Trump’s also declared his desire and intent to end birthright citizenship- the right of every person born in the United States or its territories to US citizenship. We discuss the obstacles that will stand in his way to do so.
And here’s an option: let’s push our norms. Trump and his cronies have been pushing our norms towards division, fear, and hatred for a decade now. What if we did something extremely radical and pushed them towards humanism. In his final weeks in office, Biden could do just that with one radical action: issue blanket pardons for all undocumented immigrants in the country.

Maggie Daun sticks around for some overtime to discuss 10 new charges leveled against Wisconsin’s 2020 fraudulent electors. Attorney General Josh Kaul announced these new 10 new felony charges today against defendants Kenneth Chesebro, Jim Troupis, and Mike Roman. Interestingly, the new charges allege that these three sought to defraud Republican electors in their scheme to throw out Wisconsin’s electoral votes. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 6 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. We’ll follow this story and bring updates as they emerge.

Then on UpNorthNews Radio, Ron ‘Duff’ Martin, an Eau Claire teacher who serves on the executive board of the National Education Association, talked about how this week’s overturning of Act 10 by a court can play a role in improving public education in Wisconsin. There will still be appeals of the ruling that strikes down former Gov. Scott Walker’s signature law that gutted public employee unions in the state in 2011, but Martin said if the final outcome is the reinstatement of collective bargaining rights, then unions will be able to negotiate working conditions that will help retain teachers and address worsening shortages, especially in rural districts.
On Matenaer On Air this week, former assembly candidate and county party volunteer Emily Tseffos joined the show to discuss what the Democrats need to do post election and the conversations that need to be had. She also speaks about the conversations that need to be had between voters and what keeps us connected and not divided. Emily also speaks about what needs to happen on the county party level with regard to long range planning for future elections.
The hour wraps with a segment from the Maggie Daun Show, where Maggie shares her takes on the news of the week that a county judge has ruled certain portions of the 2011 Act 10 unconstitutional and what is likely to come next in the battle to return collective bargaining rights back to public sector unions.
