Matt Rothschild guest hosts today. In this hour, he talks with two changemakers who are ready to engage with the voters of Wisconsin.
Jodi Habush Sinykin, candidate for Wisconsin’s 8th Senate District is ready to represent this deeply purple district. She knows that the people of her district need representation that respects our differences. Jodi knows that the people of District 8 are exhausted of her opponent’s extremism and scare-mongering. Jodi brings a wealth of experience as an environmental lawyer to her candidacy. She is ready and capable to lead this pivotal district to keep moving forward!
In the bottom of the hour, Matt interviews Jeff Messer. Jeff is the Community Outreach Chair of the UW College Dems. He talks with Matt about the crucial youth demographic in this election. Through his work with the College Dems, Jeff’s seen many new voters engage in the civic process.

Guests: Jeff Messer, Jodi Habush SinykinMatt Rothschild guest hosts for the day. Madison firebrand, Mr. Ethics himself, Scot Ross joins Matt for the top of the hour. Scot is the executive director of One Wisconsin Now, a liberal advocacy group based in Madison. They check in on the state of the presidential and US Senate race in Wisconsin. Current polling has us a bit anxious, but both Matt and Scot urge us not to fret. Scot shares his experience lately at the Waukesha County Dems monthly meeting. Rather than the typical dozen or so attendees, he reports well over 100 people eager to volunteer and do the work required to get Democrats elected.
In the bottom of the hour Matt talks with Bianca Shaw of All Voting is Local. Bianca serves as the Senior Campaign Manager of the Wisconsin branch of AViS. All Voting is Local works to connect people to the resources they need to fulfill their right and responsibility to vote. Bianca assures us that AViS is prepared for the challenges voters will face on election day. And any that may arise through the certification process. Remember y’all- local elections matter. Your voice matters. Make a plan and exercise your CIVIC duty!

What does it mean for a candidate to be professional? What about presidential? How can we quantify the qualities that give someone the credibility and right to merit the highest office in this land. Matt and Angela work their way through these questions. Because it matters that we can quantify and qualify every way that Kamala Harris possesses what she needs to lead this country. Will it sway those who have yet to decide for whom they’ll cast their vote even after yet more evidence that Trump is unfit for office? That he cannot- WILL NOT- be a uniting force when he relies so heavily on division? We can only try. And try sharing this video as well, of Trump losing a man’s vote once more for his many shortcomings.
In yet another monumental news day, Israeli forces killed Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza. Sinwar masterminded the October 7th, 2023 attacks on Israel that killed 1,200 people. Militants tortured- including some by sexual violence- thousands more. Terrorists took over 250 people hostage back to Gaza. Over 100 hostages remain in unknown condition, including 7 Americans. In the year since, Israel has waged a brutal war on Gaza, attacking terrorists and their infrastructure, despite their embedment in civilian locations. Over 40,000 Palestinian people have been killed. Over 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced, many more than once. Gaza lies in rubble and ruin, and 2.3 million Palestinians suffer crushing hunger. Sinwar’s death gives some potential for the needle to move towards ceasefire, peace, and rebuilding. Kamala Harris shared this news to the world behind the seal of the Vice President while in Milwaukee. She once again shows her qualifications for the office of President.

Joe Zepecki, founder of Zepecki Communications, a Milwaukee public relations network, joins Matt and Angela for the first half hour. Joe shares his analysis of the Harris campaign as a communications expert. Particularly, the interview Harris completed with Fox Dont’callitnews and the media appearances she’s been doing with the non-legacy news networks. With the new media networks of podcast and stream shows. Joe shares why it matters when candidates meet voters where they are.
Eloisa Gomez joins us at the bottom of the hour. Eloisa is an author (Somos Latinas: Voices of Wisconsin Latina Activists) and activist with the League of Women Voters, Wisconsin. As part of her efforts with the League, Eloisa co-founded Comité por El Voto Latino, an outreach and advocacy group focused on increasing engagement and excitement with Latino voters. Eloisa speaks passionately about the issues that block many from full civic engagement. She shares some of the efforts of League of Women Voters to mediate these challenges. From increasing ballot literacy to combating voter suppression and intimidation, the League’s got you covered!

Guests: Angela Lang, Eloisa Gomez, Joe Zepecki, Matt RothschildMatt Rothschild guest co-hosting with Dom. Yesterday, Trump bubbled his way through an interview with Bloomberg Editor-In-Chief. We covered this a bit, but this source really nails how incredibly bad Trump mucked this one up. For all his lavishing praise on his own grasp of economics, he failed completely to demonstrate it. What Trump showed was what we all saw as he ended his “town hall” meeting early in favor of a 40-minute sway session. He’s not capable of fulfilling the job of President of the United States. He lacks the temperament, the stamina, and the grasp of policy. HOW is this still a close race? It makes us itchy and a bit nauseas to consider…
But first, at the top of the hour, a lively conversation with a whole cast of regular and new callers. One caller questions the need and benefit for Child Tax Credits, setting off an avalanche of strong opinions.

Guests: Matt RothschildMatt Rothschild guest co-hosting with Dom. We begin with a reminder of Trump’s comments on weaponizing the military against US citizens. This leads us to the staggering endorsement for Harris from former Trump administration officials. Yesterday, Mike Esper, former Secretary of Defense for Trump called on voters to believe Trump when he says he would use the military against the people. Because Esper was there when he proposed doing just that. This isn’t normal. Please, voters of all political orientations, heed the calls of leaders from the full political spectrum urging you to cast your vote for Kamala Harris.
Gwen Moore, sitting Congresswoman representing Wisconsin’s 4th district, joins us for the second half hour. Congresswoman Moore presents the race simply: there’s one candidate who will be a president for all. There is one candidate who will be a candidate for one. Choose well. Congresswoman Moore looks forward to the Harris presidency, where we can invest in families and quality of life!

Guests: Gwen Moore, Matt RothschildLast night, the 45th POTUS hosted an event billed as a Town Hall. Now, Dom and Jess thought they understood the format of a Town Hall. A candidate or multiple candidates take questions from a crowd and deliver answers as a way for voters to compare platforms and proposed policies. What we saw was… not that. Instead, we saw Trump take a few pre-ordained questions. And then hard-pivot away from questions aboard the Crazy Train . And stand, wobbling and smirking in the only way he knows how to dance, for nearly 40 minutes. Y’all, we were deeply concerned watching this, a feeling shared by many. This is not normal, healthy behavior. This is not behavior that indicates a candidate possesses the physical and mental fortitude to serve as President of these United States.
But …whatever that was didn’t impact his ability to make judgments on others’ suitability for office. Whereas Kamala Harris released her medical report this weekend, Trump only releases confused social media clamor at her records. Rather than, y’know, release his own to *prove* he’s healthier. For the record, the most severe conditions on Harris’ report are seasonal allergies and mild nearsightedness.
Finally, checking in on the current state of the stages of grief in the Trump camp on the 2020 election. Oh what’s that? They’re still in denial and bargaining? JD Vance sat down with the New York Times for an extended interview. Even with all the time in the world, he couldn’t answer the simple question: did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?

Maggie Daun joins Dom for a bit of overtime to address Trump’s proposed economic plan. You know, the one that most economists agree would weaken our economy by raising inflation and deficits. The one that Trump wants to fund through tariffs- the most beautiful word according to him. THAT economic plan. Now, both Maggie and Dom have formal training in economists. So they do know a thing or two when it comes to tariffs, taxes, and trade wars (oh my). And when Trump claims that his proposed tariffs are just “a figure of speech,” it shows that our two have a better grasp on the topic than he ever will.

Trump’s embrace of fascism grows seemingly with every passing day. He lays out plans to use military force against US citizens. He STILL will not concede that he lost the 2020 Presidential election. Don’t trust us on this? Listen to the man who served as Chairman of the Join Chiefs of Staff in his administration, Mark Milley. Milley titles Trump, “fascist to the core” and “the most dangerous person ever.” This isn’t acceptable. We all have a role to play in keeping Trump out of the White House. Make a plan and vote. Check your registration status, and the contents of your ballot here. Then make a plan and vote.
In other news, while Trumpy is afraid of the big bad journalists at 60 Minutes, Kamala Harris agrees to an interview on Fox Don’tcallitnews. Will it change hearts or minds? One way to find out!

Republican endorsements for Kamala Harris for President continue to roll in. Why? Well, because they recognize that this election is not between a Democrat and a Republican. This election is about what kind of country we want this to be. Do we want a nation where we support one another? Do we want a country that values truth, integrity, and decency? Or do we want a nation divided and weakened by lies and hate, where politicians use every natural disaster for political games? To us, the answer is simple.
Nick Ramos, Executive Director of The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign joins Dom to talk money in politics. Nick’s message is simple: people matter more than money. Yet the amount of money in Wisconsin campaigns now… it’s staggering. And it shows that too many value money over people. This is the system we have. It’s broken, and until Citizens United is overturned, it will continue. So, vote. Vote to change the system. And use your voice to tell our elected officials that YOU value people more than money.
