Having gone through the experience of the poor health leading to the deaths of two husbands, as well as the many family members and friends, Emily Thiroux Threatt has much experience in the grieving process and has learned to face life with love, optimism, and joy.

Her book, Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief, provides guidance for navigating the downs and ups of the unfamiliar territory of grief. Each of the twenty-six chapters includes a practice which can support and comfort the reader. She is also the host of Grief and Happiness Podcast and the founder of the Grief and Happiness Alliance, and is CEO of the Grief and Happiness Nonprofit Organization.

Emily has kept journals and written to express herself most of her life. She earned a master’s degree in English with a concentration in writing which led to her career teaching writing at the university level for over 30 years including being a pioneer in online education and writing university textbooks. She naturally turned to writing to deal with her grief. She also is teaching those dealing with loss how to use writing to deal with their grief.

I always wanted to be a writer, but was told that it wasn't a practical career. So I pursued a career in publishing instead. After the job market crashed in 2009, I found myself between jobs and my roommate's dad, an attorney, offered to give me some work. I started writing blog posts for him and then for his associate and some friends of mine. I eventually got another day job, but kept writing on the side. I quit the day job about seven and a half years ago and have been writing full time ever since. I work with businesses that need to demonstrate their expertise through content marketing. I help them to tell their story in a way that their target audience will understand and see the value in what they're offering. Telling stories comes naturally to me and.
