THE DYNASTY: A Podcast on the Alabama Crimson Tide episodes

  • Alabama’s QB Battle Rages On, Ty Simpson’s Draft Stock Trends Up & Basketball Falls to Michigan

On this week's episode of THE DYNASTY, national champions AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson join Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to discuss the latest from spring practice, Ty Simpson's draft stock and the Tide's Sweet 16 loss to Michigan.

They start the show by reacting to what Kalen DeBoer had to say after Alabama's first spring scrimmage. How have Austin Mack and Keelon Russell looked so far this spring? What can competition at key positions do for a team? Can Yhonzae Pierre take another step forward and become an elite pass rusher in 2026? They discuss all of that and more!

They also dive into Ty Simpson's recent rise up the draft boards. He appears to be the clear-cut No.2 quarterback in this draft class, and some mock drafts have him going in the top five. What has led to his recent rise?

Finally, they get into Alabama's Sweet 16 loss to Michigan. They discuss what put Michigan over the top, Labaron Philon's 35-point performance, the unprecedented success Nate Oats has achieved at Alabama and what it will take for the Tide to take the next step and win a national title.

The Alabama men's basketball team is Sweet 16 bound for the fourth season in a row!

Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, checks in from Tampa, where he watched Alabama dismantle Texas Tech in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. National champions AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson also join producer Steve Gorgei to talk spring football. They dive into how much enrolling early can help true freshmen contribute immediately, what defensive coordinator Kane Wommack had to say about turning Alabama's defense into a dominant unit, whether the defense is good enough to carry the offense early in the season and much more!

  • Bama’s Bracket Is Set, SEC Win Totals & Is Ryan Coleman-Williams Primed for a Bounce-Back Year?

On this week's episode of THE DYNASTY, national champions AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson join Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to discuss spring football, the NCAA Tournament and more!

They start the show by diving into what offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb had to say about Alabama's revamped offensive line. Grubb praised redshirt freshman Jackson Lloyd and called him "the guy" at left tackle. Is that a good or bad sign for the Tide? They also discuss how wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams can bounce back after an inconsistent sophomore campaign, and why they're happy A-Day will feature an intrasquad scrimmage again this season after last year's event was just a practice.

Both the Alabama men's and women's basketball teams are headed to the NCAA Tournament, and the guys are diving into all the madness! Can Nate Oats use the Tide's SEC Tournament loss to Ole Miss to light a fire under his team? Is Hofstra a legitimate threat to upset Alabama? They tackle those questions and more.

***Note: Our conversation on the NCAA Tournament took place before news broke that Alabama guard Aden Holloway was arrested on a felony drug charge.***

Then, they discuss how many regular-season games one sportsbook projects Alabama to win and which SEC teams are expected to win the most games this fall. They head to "Coach's Corner" to discuss the latest with the Birmingham Stallions, and wrap up the show with "Short Yardage," as Trent evaluates some of the top running backs in the upcoming NFL draft.

Trent Richardson said what about Nick Saban??? Well, as it turns out, Trent didn’t actually say anything at all. He’ll address the FAKE quote being attributed to him on social media. Then, Trent and Chris Stewart dive into Saban's stance on NIL and the start of spring practice in Tuscaloosa.

Next, Alabama men's basketball coach Nate Oats joins the show to talk some hoops as the Crimson Tide gets set for postseason play! Oats discusses the level he and his staff are working to take the Alabama basketball program to, preparing for March basketball, his college football career and more.

Finally, AJ McCarron joins the show to break down the quarterback battle between Austin Mack and Keelon Russell, discuss the impact of eliminating the spring transfer window and dive into how he's preparing the Birmingham Stallions for the start of the UFL season.

  • It’s NFL Combine Time, the Future of Non-Conference Scheduling & Bama Basketball Stays Hot

On this week's episode of THE DYNASTY, Alabama football legend Trent Richardson joins Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to discuss the 12 former Alabama players headed to the NFL combine. Can Ty Simpson solidify himself as the No. 2 quarterback behind Fernando Mendoza? Could Germie Bernard end up as a first-round pick? What does Trent remember about his experience at the combine? They discuss all of that and more!

Then, the guys dive into the future of non-conference scheduling with the SEC moving to nine conference games. They get into whether it still makes sense to schedule marquee non-conference opponents like Ohio State and Notre Dame, how the College Football Playoff selection committee should treat strength of schedule and if expanding the CFP could actually strengthen the regular season, as Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte suggested last week.

In "Short Yardage," Trent discusses the death of NFL WR Rondale Moore and the Teddy Bridgewater bill, a Florida bill that would allow high school coaches to use personal funds to assist their players. Finally, they react to Bama basketball's six-game win streak to wrap up the show.

  • The Big Ten Wants a BIGGER Playoff, Bama Basketball Is on a Roll & Who’s the SEC’s Top QB?

On this week's episode of THE DYNASTY, Alabama football legends AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson join Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to discuss the impact of Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss being granted another year of eligibility. Is Chambliss the SEC’s top QB heading into the season or will defenses be better prepared to face him in 2026?

Then, the guys turn their attention to the Big Ten’s 24-team playoff proposal. There may be some people out there who like this plan, but they aren't on this show! AJ and Trent bluntly weigh in on why they think expanding the College Football Playoff to 24 teams is a terrible idea.

They dive into Bama basketball's four-game win steak and they wrap up the show with Trent's new segment, “Short Yardage," where he discusses Derrick Henry's comments on the current state of the Alabama football program and the growing pains Nick Saban went through during his early years in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama legends AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson join Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to discuss Alabama hiring Adrian Klemm as the team’s new offensive line coach. What does Coach Klemm need to do on Day 1 to get this unit right? AJ thinks harnessing a little bit of Will Ferrell in "Old School" might be just what it takes.

Then, the guys react to Curt Cignetti’s comments about lightening the load for both players and coaches by using practice time more efficiently. Is this the way of the future? Is there something refreshing about it? Nick Saban was known for putting in long hours, but could he have done it differently?

The guys break down Alabama's 96-92 win over Auburn in men's basketball and revisit the Charles Bediako controversy after it was revealed SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey signed an affidavit supporting the NCAA in Bediako's lawsuit. Finally, they wrap up the show by discussing the Alabama alumni that played in Super Bowl LX, what made the Seahawks defense so good and whether Sam Darnold's turnaround will lead to more patience from NFL teams.

  • Mark Gottfried on Charles Bediako, Plus Bama’s Search for a New OL Coach & the CFP Stays at 12

Alabama legends AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson join Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to talk all things Alabama athletics. They start the show by sharing their thoughts on the Tide parting ways with offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic. They also dive into the Alabama's newest transfer addition at offensive tackle and they discuss whether it's still better to start a quarterback you've developed since his freshman year than a transfer.

Then, former Alabama basketball player and head coach Mark Gottfried joins the show to discuss the Charles Bediako situation. Bediako made an impact in Saturday's loss to Tennessee, but should he really be playing?

The guys wrap up the show by diving into the news that the College Football Playoff will stay at 12 teams for another year, but starting next season all Power 4 champions will receive an automatic bid and Notre Dame will be guaranteed to make the field if it finishes in the top 12. They also discuss the viability of the SEC breaking away from the rest of college football.

  • Breaking Down the Charles Bediako Situation, Bama's Portal Class & the National Championship Game

Alabama legends AJ McCarron and Trent Richardson join Chris Stewart, the voice of Crimson Tide football and men's basketball, to talk all things Alabama athletics. They start the show by sharing their thoughts on Alabama’s incoming football transfer class and wondering if the team has done enough to fix what plagued them in 2025. And while we’re on the subject of the transfer portal, AJ has some serious concerns with the number of players across the sport that entered the portal this offseason. How did we arrive at this point and where is college football headed?

Then, the guys weigh in on this year’s national championship game and Curt Cignetti leading Indiana to a 16-0 season. They give Fernando Mendoza his props and break down the play that sunk Miami’s chances of pulling off the upset.

And finally, remember former Crimson Tide basketball player Charles Bediako? Well guess what? You can remove the word “former” as Bediako has been temporarily cleared to play for the Tide, despite playing for three NBA G-League teams since leaving Tuscaloosa after the 2023 season. While this might be good news for Bama, what does it say about the state of college sports? The guys share their thoughts.
