  • Disruptive Behavior and How to Deal
Hey teach! I’m so excited you're here today because I want to talk about bad behavior. Let's face it, we all have or will have students with various behaviors that can take up a lot of our energy, and in the moment we may feel stuck and unsure the best way to respond. So, in this episode, I share about a recent situation I had with a student who was disrupting our class, and the steps I took to handle the behavior. These steps are geared towards any age, and I have found them helpful both when teaching elementary as well as middle school.
**In this episode, I mention classroom agreements. Click here for episode #27 where I dive more into this topic with my friend, Hunter.

I know a lot of teachers are starting a new quarter this week, and as you know, the beginnings and endings of quarters or semesters can be a little chaotic. So, today, I wanted to bring on LaTayvia Brown who is an educator, CEO, and advocate for youth and self care. She works on bridging the gap between educators and parents with a focus on social-emotional learning. In this episode, LaTayvia and I talk about her business, what led to her creating it, and some great self-care tips and suggestions for any teachers who are looking to incorporate more of that practice into their lives.

  • Protecting Your Energy
Do you ever feel completely depleted of energy? Like you hit a wall and didn't see it coming? As a teacher there are so many things that require our attention and focus day in and day out, it's understandable why teachers feel so tired and fried by the end of the day. But how can we protect our energy more, so we don't always feel like this?
In this episode, I talk about ways we can identify our current energetic state and suggestions on how to make changes that are supportive instead of depleting. I suggest grabbing a pen and piece of paper for this one! It's a great one to journal with.

What's up, teach! Welcome back to The Educator's Mindset podcast.  I hope you had a great winter holiday and are having a wonderful new year so far!
As we get back into the school flow, I wanted to address a topic that has been showing up a lot lately, and that's negativity in the workplace. I've talked to several teachers on Instagram about their experiences with negative coworkers. 2020 was challenging, and I think a lot of teachers are feeling depleted, which in turn can affect our emotions. So, in this episode, I invited Alex Calderon, from 1stGenTeacherLens podcast, to share about his experiences with and what he does to combat negativity. Want to connect with Alex? Click here!

  • My Why: Why Teaching? Why Podcasting?
Today I'm bringing you a SOLO episode about "My Why." Earlier this week, I asked what listeners and followers on Instagram wanted to hear, and many wanted me to share about why I got into teaching and why I got into podcasting. P.S. If you're on Instagram, send me a message. I'd love to chat!
Alright, so I'm going to be real honest, I get pretty vulnerable in this episode. Plus, Nova interrupts. So, if you have a doggo at home, be warned haha. Anyways, listen in to hear about why I got into teaching and podcasting. A lot of this is only known by my closest loved ones. Thank you for inviting me to share today. I'd love to hear your WHY.
