  • [Solo Sesh] Three Myths in the Personal Development Space

Do you struggle to change your mindset no matter what you try? Do you feel like the personal development community’s advice never works?

In today’s solo sesh, host Chrystal Rose breaks down the three common lies of the personal development world. We’re often told that we must always chase lofty goals to be successful or that we’re never allowed to quit our dreams once we start them. In reality, we can dream as big or small as we want because we know what makes us happy. Ultimately, it’s our lives, and no one else gets to decide what’s best for us.

It’s important to understand that the personal development community isn’t always right. Learn more about outdated dogmas, determining your own dreams, and why you should only pursue goals you love.

    Quotes

    • “If you love it and enjoy it, it will be enough.” (4:20-4:23 | Chrystal)

    • “If you enjoy what you do, or you love what you do, or maybe you don't love the actual little things, but you love the industry, or whatever it is, you're exactly where you belong. And don't let anyone tell you differently.” (7:17-7:27 | Chrystal)

    • “We have to be the only one who determines our dreams and goals and to know if it is truly big enough, whatever that means for us. We get to decide.” (11:42-11:57 | Chrystal)

    • “It is your responsibility, if this is your dream that you absolutely love, to do whatever it takes to stay in the game.” (14:28-14:36 | Chrystal)

    • “Even if you walk away from something you love, no matter what that path is, there may be a lesson to be learned. There may be a reason you went down that path that you may not realize until later when you're looking back.” (19:02-19:17 | Chrystal)

    • “I'm not going to wait and lick my wounds because I know I'm not coming from a place of “fix me, help me, I need you.” I'm coming from a place of, “I want this. I desire this. I deserve this. I'm worthy of this. Let's freakin go.” (7:35-7:50 | Chrystal)

  • [Interview] Working Through Anxiety with Sandy Woznicki

“On the inside, it was just tight and twisted and so uncomfortable,” explains Sandy Woznicki, Stress + Anxiety Coach and Founder of the Grateful Resilience Method. After experiencing stress-induced insomnia for years of her life, Sandy knew she needed to make a change. Now, she helps other career-minded women rid themselves of their paralyzing anxiety to live fuller lives.

Like Sandy, many women do not realize they are struggling with anxiety. They may have stomach issues or assume they are forever insecure, but these are symptoms of a more significant problem. By evaluating the stories we tell ourselves, we can determine what is causing our inner lives to feel so agonizing and make the steps to move forward. Ultimately, we need to stop seeking external validation and realize we are enough at our core.

Even when it feels hopeless, you can work past anxiety and stress. Learn more about getting to the root of the problem, reevaluating your narratives, and Sandy’s upcoming self-love summit.

    Quotes

“You have to just stay on top of your growth, and it's so easy when you're tired, and you're stressed, and you're overwhelmed to just fall back on those old habits and forget that you have an entire toolbox full of tools to take out when you need them. (2:29-2:42 | Sandy)

    • “On the inside, it was just tight and twisted and so uncomfortable.” (12:06-12:10 | Sandy)

    • “We work with women to help them change that relationship with the inner monologue they've been having and to learn the tools to take control and to step into the best version of their life.” (17:30-17:44 | Sandy)

    • “As you're learning how to be more self-compassionate and learning self-love, it sounds weird at first. It is you, but it's not what you're used to hearing, so you gotta keep practicing it. And over time, it will not feel weird anymore.” (21:09-21:23 | Sandy)

    • “When you're going down that people-pleasing path, you’re seeking something you're not providing yourself.” (23:48-23:55 | Sandy)

  • [Solo Sesh] Evolving Past Survival Mode

Do you struggle to live outside of survival mode? Are you afraid to let yourself evolve?

Whether it be dieting or dating, it’s hard to admit we’ve grown past our basic needs. Men no longer need to procreate to keep humanity alive, and our bodies no longer need to be in weight-gaining survival mode, so realistically,“biology” doesn’t define us. With the world expanding every day, Chrystal encourages us to grow with it and let ourselves thrive. Ultimately, we have the agency to make better choices, and giving excuses will only hold us back.

No matter what society tells us, we have grown past basic survival. Learn more about not feeling stuck with our bodies, dealing with trolls, and how to stop using biology as an excuse for our behavior.

    Quotes

    • “If something someone else says triggers you, please know that that is a “you” thing.” (11:01-11:06 | Chrystal)

    • “We have evolved past our basic needs. We’ve evolved past survival. It's not about survival anymore, it's about thriving.”  (16:57-17:06 | Chrystal)

    • “We are no longer just about getting our basic needs met. We have expanded beyond that, so we don't get to use that as an excuse.” (17:44-17:56 | Chrystal)

    • “Rather than making excuses and expelling the energy to convince people that we are a slave to our biology, why not just tell the truth?”  (19:46-19:58 | Chrystal)

  • [Solo Sesh] Leaning Into Self-Leadership

Are you unsure of what it means to be self-led? Do you follow others more than your own intuition?

Often in the coaching space, we think of self-leaders as people who need to be followed and listened to for everyday advice. In actuality, self-leadership comes from listening to your intuition and making decisions that feel good to you. No one should tell you what to do or how to be, so leaning into your true self will make you happier and more fulfilled. Ultimately being “self-led” means that if you make decisions aligned with who you are, everything will fall into place.

In a “follow-me” culture, don’t be afraid to be self-led. Learn more about following your truth, the bravery of saying no, and allowing yourself to evolve.

    Quotes

    • “I get to lead myself so that when people see me leading, it sparks something in them. And they realize they're a leader too.” (7:52-8:02 | Chrystal)

    • “Once we realize something is out of alignment, it is hard to go back.” (9:23-9:28 | Chrystal)

    • “Self-leadership really boils down to you leading yourself from a place within your truth. And that place is for the greater good of all of us.” (14:58-15:28 | Chrystal)

    • “I want you to know that your truth, your ultimate inner truth, who you are at your core, is the only thing that matters.” (17:14-17:22 | Chrystal)

    • “When you are happy, in your alignment, and you are who you desire to be, everything falls into place. And the right people will support you and be there with you.” (17:41-17:53 | Chrystal)

  • [Solo Sesh] Growing From Group Travel

Do you do a lot of self-work in private? Are you upset if you backslide when exposed to the rest of the world?

Through exploring a group travel experience, Chrystal shares her healing progress and the work she still needs to do. Although it’s normal to assume that the self-work you do in isolation will carry over with others, it’s often outside our comfort zone that we better understand ourselves. The main thing is not to be angry with yourself if you still have triggers because, after all, finding self-acceptance is a journey.

Although solo trips can be incredible for self-growth, group travel can really push you forward. Learn more about Chrystal’s recent travel adventures, dealing with triggers, and the benefits of being around others who are putting in the work.

    Quotes

    • “Solo travel is amazing, and a lot of self-discovery can be done. But truly working on things, I believe, requires exposure.” (12:19-12:30 | Chrystal)

    • “If we're focused solely on an issue that requires an external thing, and then we take that external thing away, then we don't know how to gauge our progress with it. Which is why group travel will show you what you still need to work on.” (13:06-13:29 | Chrystal)

    • “Certain people can drag me into their negativity, and I need to look at that because that's not who I want to be.” (18:27-18:34 | Chrystal)

    • “It is so different when you're in a room with people working on themselves who have dedicated their lives to working on themselves. It is different because everyone walks into that room owning their shit.”  (20:10-20:24 | Chrystal)

    • “If you haven't gone on a group trip before, it might not be a bad idea. Because then you get to see those parts and pieces of yourself that are being poked and activated differently than what you're probably used to.” (22:49-23:06 | Chrystal)

  • [Girlfriend Chat] Defining Healthy Masculinity with Deb McCollum

Do you believe masculinity equates to aggression? Are you unsure of the real differences between beta and alpha males?

On today’s girlfriend chat, Deb returns to discuss dating and masculinity. To be masculine, many men believe they must be pushy, dominant, and intimidating. However, those are beta qualities stemming from insecurity rather than a true sign of manliness. In actuality, alpha males are quietly confident and demonstrate kindness to others without the toxic behaviors commonly associated with men today.

    • “When a man is an alpha male, he doesn't need to puff up and show you he's dominant. He just is.” (17:38-17:49| Chrystal)

    • “It's not alpha to bully someone or try to push someone to do something they don't want to do.” (21:18-21:24| Chrystal)

    • “I think people genuinely are confused and think to be alpha means being forward and confrontational. People have that misconception.” (21:41-21:56| Deb)

    • “Why do men feel the need to posture, peacock, or puff their chest out? Is it a societal thing? Is it a history thing?” (37:46-38:00| Deb)

  • [Interview] The Value of Love with Hibby Bartlett

“I'm going to put value back into what they say is the most valuable thing: love,” explains Hibby Bartlett, Founder of World LOVEbank. After losing her brother to addiction, Hibby realized the importance of saying, “I love you.” This tragedy led her to create the app World LOVEbank, where she has built a resource that allows others to give and receive love.

Hibby is the kind of person who wants to remind people that they are lovable no matter what. In a challenging world that prioritizes feelings of hate, it may seem like good things aren’t possible. By utilizing her app to create conversations around love and affirmations, Hibby demonstrates that better things are out there if you seek them.

Although love is seemingly intangible, there are ways to spread it to those who need it. Learn more about World LOVEbank, the personal accountability of self-love, and why you need to feel to heal.

    Quotes

    • “My goal is to connect with as many people as possible in life and to help people stay connected with others. So to bring love and the feeling of peace in their lives.” (1:26-1:40| Hibby)

    • “I'm going to put value back into what they say is the most valuable thing: love. And in that way, we can grow our bank. You can grow your savings account with those personal ones from people you care about most.”  (8:48-8:59| Hibby)

    • “You have to feel to heal. If you don't allow yourself to feel the feelings, you can never actually move through them and get to the other side.” (24:16-24:22| Chrystal)

    • “If you spend your time judging other people, your subconscious mind will tell you, “If I am judging other people, therefore, they have the right to judge me.” (28:46-29:00| Hibby)

    • “There's our conscious mind and our subconscious mind. We have to be the warden of our minds. Whatever we're thinking out here, it'll implant into our subconscious.” (36:13-36:20| Hibby)

Do you have a goal that you’re determined to meet? Do you exhaust yourself trying to achieve it?

When we have an objective, whether getting a new job or finding a romantic partner, we often burn out trying to make it happen. We tend to stick to the rigid plan we laid out for ourselves, believing it’s the only way to make our dreams come true. Today, Chrystal shares the value of letting go of how we want to achieve our goals and evaluating what we truly want. Instead of shutting ourselves down, she encourages listeners to be open to new ways of doing things that may lead them down a better path.

    • “It's not just about not looking. It's about holding a high energetic standard for yourself while you continue to live and find joy in your everyday life.” (22:57-23:07 | Chrystal)
