The Everyday Sniper Episode 222, 100 Yard Zeros
Welcome to 2020 and the first new episode of the new year. We are excited to be back and I want to jump right in with precision rifle training.
In this new years' episode I have two areas of focus:
I believe every rifle 338 and smaller should have a 100 yard zero. Thinking about this, I also want to look at the type of target we use to zero that may have a bearing. With this in mind, I have been looking at both target design and how we use them. Any way we slice it, we have to work at 100 yards and that work we do there is important. It sets the tone for the rest of our shooting. If we have good groups centered up, we are money, if we are off-center and opened up bigger than a minute, we may run into some trouble down the road.
I want to be efficient when teaching students at 100 yards. It can be boring so it's important to focus on tasks being put forth vs just trying to get the round count up.
I am considering too, the type of target, circles vs the square, vs a diamond, as I think it matters.
